Every time I hear of this song, it reminds me of the movie, "When a man loves a woman", and when I visited the Buena Viista in San Francisco where it was filmed, and had a Irish cream coffee, that they invented, and I often wonder what it must have felt like to be Andy Garcia, and kiss Meg Ryan, in the very bar that Marilyn Monroe, and Joe DiMaggio often frequented.

I had the privilege of seeing this man live when he was just becoming known....he played
for Ga. Southwestern Coll. circa '65-'66 at the National Guard Armory in Americus, Ga. for a dance held by the students...even took a sip out of his 1/2 pint bottle which he pulled from his coat pocket during a break ..we had been standing next to each other
relieving ourselves in the bathroom...this song had just risen to #1... an earlier contract, thank goodness had been made..a FAN FOREVER!!!

Weil seine Freundin ihn cerlassen hat, hatte er zu viel Liebeskummer bei einem Konzert, um andere Lieder zu singen und so hat er dieses improvisiert. Der Herzschmerz ist deutlich rauszuhören.
Nachdem seine Freundin das Lied gehört hat kam sie zu ihm zurück, aber er verließ sie kurze Zeit später, wegen einer anderen.
Es ist eins der ausdrucksstärksten Lieder überhaupt.
