as a security person I have worked the last 5 Apple Cups both in Pullman and Seattle, SOmething happens EVERY Apple Cup whether its on coug or husky turf so dont blame it all on the cougs or all on the huskys, both school have had their share of problem causing. Also the police didnt JUST arrest Huskies, I myself got 3 COugars arrested, so huskies...we werent out to get you, we were only doing our jobs and with 29k people its hard for 200 CMS workers to stop everything.
As a Husky band member, I would just like to say that a lot of us are incredibly grateful to the Cougar marching band. I personally have a lot of respect for you guys, and I'm glad that we all tried to protect each other despite the rivalry between our schools. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
HOW DARE YOU JESUS2524 try and bash these people. They have more honor that you ever will in your entire life. these students were willing to put aside there differences to protect students from the heartless people who have no respect for the game or there school. These Cougar Band students are the heros in the end. They have more honor, respect, and school pride than anyone else in that stadium that day. You are the kind of people who make me sick. You are the lowest of the low. Go ROTT
How pathetic... I go to WSU and being up in the stands watching these douche bags throw ice pissed me off. I would've liked to see way more crowd control people up in the stands.
Yeah to all you fans who thought it would be a bright idea to throw ice balls at us, I hope you feel good about yourselves now. You might not have been aiming for us specifically, but we were trying to protect the UW band members and their director from you and a lot of us got hurt in the process. We don't deserve to be injured for trying to protect others, we were just trying to keep civility and prove that not all of us are like the ice ball throwers. Thanks for reinforcing that stereotype.
@anabal yeah to all you band members who thought it would be a bright idea to protect a husky, i hope you feel good about yourselves now. if you were smarter or mabey a little quicker you wouldnt have been in the line of fire. moral of the story: dont be a dumbass.
@JESUS2524 Oh stop trying to be a troll. For goodness sake, they're people too even if they're Huskies. There's no reason we shouldn't have tried to protect them since they were doing the same for us. If you want to go into how their football players hit some of us while running out, that's a whole other story. But if each of our teams are throwing ice at the people who put hours into performances and are always there to support their team even when they lose, something isn't right.
10-20 idiots does not represent the student body as a whole. The exact same thing would have happened at UW, or any other school during a big rivalry. Idiots exist everywhere.
i took a bunch of video of this on my phone too. they weren't really "snowballs." more like straight up ice.
cougar fans are fucking pricks. i used to just think of them as another rival but they're trash. we'll see you assholes on our turf next year. and even though we should by all rights, we're not gonna pelt your band with rocks before they play their halftime show, because we're not a bunch of perpetually drunk hicks.
@cubine Your part of the problem too! Its people like you that get our fans all worked up so they do stuff like this. I was on the sidelines at halftime, in fact, the first WSU kid that was interviewed was supposed to be right next to me when we did our show. Both team's fans are to blame, we need to find civility in this rivalry. Go Cougs and Go Cornhuskers!!!
@cubine neither did most of the cougs in the stands. I agree with you though, they were pieces of jagged ice. I got pegged with one in the back and it sucked. Don't blame every single fan for the unsportsmanlike conduct of a few. Should have been more crowd control though :/
@cubine You don't have to throw anything either. One of our Sousaphones got assaulted during her trip to the bathroom. It was unacceptable behavior all around!
@cubine dude....you and i were both on the field. dont blame the entire student body. yes, we get alot of shit from them, yes it was completely uncalled for to throw ice at us, yes im just as pissed as you are cuz they hit my drum a few times. but the CMB is part of the student body too.
im not defending the ice throwers. im defending my twin brother and my friends who happen to be cougs.
GO Cougs!

It is hard to blame WSU security, they aren't used to crowds over 10K.

That is one wonderful way of showing your school pride. I hope you are proud of yourselves. I don't care if you were trying to hit the other team...
I actually almost got hit in the head but the guy behind me warned me so I ducked.
