The s19 helmet shell is made of polycarbonet wich is the matierial used on spaceship windows. There is no way u can do this test this way because 1 it was shot at a vent hole and 2 the shots dont even seem close to the same speed. Bauer=made in china junk

the puck that hits the easton helmet is travelling much faster than the one that hits the bauer helmet. At 32 seconds the puck in the Bauer frame is clearly visible, however has not entered the camera frame yet for the Easton helmet.. At 33 seconds the puck hits the Easton helmet, however hasn't quite reached the Bauer helmet..

rather than a puck, they should do drop tests with a simulated head inside to measure GForce. i hit the wall or the ice with my head far more than i take a puck to the head.

I wonder what the difference in forces are from the inside of the helmet. Just because the puck bounces off the Bauer helmet does not mean it is really the safest. If more energy from absorbed by the easton helmet by "being crushed" than the Bauer helmet than that means less impact will be felt by the player. I mean isn't that the whole point, to receive less harm to the head at the expense of the helmet?

@KaaFOFO Agreed. It would be nice if Bauer measured the G forces and showed us those tests. They have the ability to do realistic testing, but at this time only Cascade makes any claims on G-force reduction. I think that's strange. The military is using G-forces as a helmet criteria, so between the FXPP and Poron, you'd think they'd be proud of the results if it worked. Makes you wonder, doesn't it ...

I'm not in NHL I'll be suprised if anyone could take a 62mph wrist shot. Slappers don't happen much in my league they are usually pokes away on wind up. Also never been hit in the head with a puck.

the puck hit a vent in the s19 z-shock helmet, the puck hit the shell in the 9900 helmet. obviously if the puck hits a vent, it would get crushed, if the puck hit a vent in the 9900 it would've got crushed.

my opinion, the s19 was hit in a vent, which would be slightly weaker than another section of the helmet, with either helmet, you'd get a nasty concussion, however, it is always good to get the 3rd partys opinion

We recently purchased an S19 for a AAA bantam player. The helmet began to have hair line cracks after the first tournament without even taking a hard hit. We returned it and got the Bauer 9900. I certainly hope it offers better protection.

working at a sports store this definetly helps. I should have done stuff like this in my college days. Thank you so much and i wasnt really shocked by the results. Easton has always made the lightest gear and there sticks are definetly better in durability and feel than Bauer but i had a feeling the 9900 would win. i know what i want on my head. @RussianHockeyMaster they only have to meet most of the regulations... not all. Obviously this is true in that with some helmet tests, helmets that become HECC and CSA certified are crushed. Also, I would love to see both helmets hit at the top of the helmet where there is already an opening.
