  • Aweeesome!

  • Super sick bro, favorited! + thumbs

  • I am a HUGE fan of originality. I totally know what you mean at the beginning.

  • @MrSidMan --- It's gonna blow your mind! Especially when you listen to all the free patterns/songs that come with it! Every type of electronic music is on this thing, even Hip-Hop and Jazz! Plus Down Tempo and House Trance & regular trance, Ambient + Ambient House, Psychedelic Trance, Techno, Minimal, 2Step, R&B, Funk, IDM, Electro, and Drums&Bass, and Garage! That's a lot of awesome music! And since it's programmed in there, you can see how the instruments are made and edit every detail

  • @AlchemistShaman Sweet i can't wait till mine is shipped! Nice song

  • This melody is.... beautiful. Love it. VEEEERY GOOD JOB!!

  • love the track keep up the hard work and thanks for a good song

  • Its like a fly to the Heaven...sooooo niiiicccceeee

  • Top track. Reminds me of some of the more mellow Aphex Twin greats I love.

    Very well done!

  • very nice i like this i also use a MX and do the same thing make all the loops on my own its so much fun. i only wish it was a bit bigger like twise the size dose any one know of a bit of kit that is like the MX but bigger and or better?

  • @jiroyamada --- Nothing on the face of this earth is better than the EMX and ESX -- don't let the small size fool you into thinking less of it. All you do is combine more EMX's together, as many as you want. If you think there is a better synth than the EMX, then you just ain't using it right! KORG holds the patent on the technology for recording the movements of the knobs so the effects are redone to the instruments live instead of a recorded sample, and that is why the EMX = GOD!

  • @AlchemistShaman - i agree. there is absolutely no better synths on the face on the earth, and there never will be. i enjoy it when people see the small size of the synth and talk ill of it, only to be blown away by patterns where every single note is programed and every sound is created. no other synth offers such dynamic flexibility. i have a host of synths; elektron, moog, nord, dave smith, novation and a stack of outboard effects, however nothing comes close to replicating the korgs.

  • love it

  • Great work. Can appreciate the patience it must take to master it and create original content.

  • really nice song

  • Sounds nice. Very ambient and ethereal. Almost like near death experience music that people hear.

  • Very nice work alchemist shaman

  • Do your music man and enjoy what you create, let the haters hate.

  • Haha LOL

its funny how you explain how your a "real" musician when the track youve made is the most boring piece of un-imaginative shit ever and tbh I even think ive heard this before!!

  • @Enterthehunter1 ...just curious...what do YOU call real music?

  • software doesent compare ,hardware compares its that simple! i agree with u to a degree about people useing presets all the time and im sure everyone has done this sometime or another even u my freind, this machene doesent have the greatest soundbank in the world so i think ur not on ur own in useing all ur own tweakes sounds, good work tho.

  • I don't use any premade loops or patterns. Everything you here is from the EMX alone.

  • Agreed with your first anonation. I sure want to play around with an EMX, sounds very astonishing. Have you ever tried Midi mapping? With a tracker (Madtracker, Renoise, Modplug?) Wonderful work, it is a peaceful majestic work.

  • ur awsome! :) sound great!

  • Sold my EMX, bought software(Propellerheads Record+Reason), and now I want back to EMX. simple as that:P

Nothing against that piece of software, but I like to work hands-on.

  • Yeah I used to use software, and it totally sucks compared to hardware. Software was a pain, but hardware is so much fun, and much faster to change things and experiment.

  • Thanks in part to your video I got an emx-1and now I'm playing chilled techno for a house party this weekend and I'm writing more music than I ever did before. Thanks for you music and videos and I hope to someday post something as good!

    Do you play live?

  • Love the tune keep it up. Inspiring!

  • Got my EMX-1 now, my taste for techno and especially chillout is growing each day!

  • Welcome to the elite EMX club!

  • And it is one hella ride :) !!! Just got up, EMX-1 -> All day, until my party tonight. It is my b-day today ^^

  • NICEpeace.

  • I love this, i'd really like to learn how to use it.

  • Hey AlchemistShaman

this track is a credit to you

just shows em what you can do with this EMX if you put in some hard work

your track has gr8 feeling about it

    congrats

  • It all depends on how much you use it. Just like any instrument, you get better and better at it when practice makes perfect!

  • Agreed!

  • Comment removed

  • This is wicked man :)

    Great job.

Another reason for me to get one of these.

    Haha

  • I love it (y)

The pulsey drum give it proper atmosphere

And i get where you're coming from bout the MX...

We 'triber's gotta stick together :L

  • Am going to get one next month, how easy is it to use?

  • Its pretty hard at first, but once you get used to the control and knowing where everything is, you can make music without headaches or confusion. Still takes a good amount of intelligence to think of ways to use use the effects knobs to mold and shape the sounds the right way.

  • duDE I HAD your website. and i downed this song.. its the shit. its helped me. In so many ways. my comp crashed and this is the only way can hear it now. dude the link that you had was the same song.. i compared it. i wish i had it now on my ipod.. i need its comfort.. P.L.U.R

  • Beatiful tune!!!!! And I love your truthfull description during the intro.

    5 stars

  • Mate this is really good, you've got some of the emx vids on youtube, but all your bragging about how hard it was to do is really annoying.

  • Sounds Great!

  • I have an elektron MD and spectralis 2 and some other analog gear coming in... buts it funny I still keep coming back the electribe emx1 for a possible future piece of kit.. it just seems like so much damn fun to use. and at the end of the day that is what its about. Nice song!

  • looks fun... wut exactly does the EMX do?

  • It makes music from scratch. This entire song you here was made on the EMX alone....no computer or other instruments connected, not even a MIDI keyboard.

  • Great song, mate!

You got some serious skills there! :D

I want to get an EMX now! :D (and a camera to record some stuff to youtube)

My rig is a Roland PMA-5 sequencing an Yamaha FB-01 (FM Synth), (synth side) Korg EA-1 - MC-303 - Korg ER-1 (percussive side)

And sometimes I play the keyboard (using PMA's sound engine), Melodica, Acoustic Guitar and Bass Guitar! :P

    Sometimes it gets messy! :P

  • Thats fuckin rad man:)

  • Way beyond anything I've done. Inspirational!

  • Yeah! I'm feelin' it. Nice! Follow the white rabbit lol, I like ur style, I just might. :D

  • Nice Tune Mate

  • reminds me of system 7

  • I never heard of system 7, but now I looked up some of their youtube vids, and they sound pretty good!

  • check out there song space bird or hintori...maybe song for the phoenix, whichover it is it sounds like this. good stuff

  • wow, very smooth and ethereal.

This music makes me envision a beach as the sun is setting and the breeze is blowing.

    BEATIFUL!

  • Feel The Same :D!

    Very nice song btw

  • wow man, beautiful.

im borrowing this from my friend to see if i want to buy it, and u should deff give us a tutorial because i dont know where to start. ive read through the whole manual and understand the basic functions, but i want to make my own music and dont know how! if u end up making the tutorial i will be thankful beyond graciously possible!

once again, beautiful song and keep it up!

  • Very nice track... Congratulation :}

  • very layed back grooves i have a question though how does everyone manage to get their tunes from the emx1 onto the comp does everyone just use a normal camcorder or is it recorded onto the comp than made into a video later could you help me plz?

  • I use a camera but I connect the EMX to the computer for recording the sound. I synchronize the video and audio by playing a few notes at the beginning of the video, which I cut off during th editing process.

  • nicee man

see me i play the micro korg synth vocoder..

this thing looks pretty usefull for loopin

  • i like how u kept it strictly instrumental-no lyrics or stupid human voices. nice job

  • Yeah the EMX can be used as a vocoder and you can apply many different effects to your voice, so I could have put some song in there, but I like the music itself too much to overlap it with signing

  • Nicework mate

  • Good song! It is making me feel good and calm!

  • thx man for thx forthe vid

    enjoyed the tune

  • My compliments for yor music, it's very evocative and relaxing, and very well played.

Just a question on the Electribe: apart from changing and recording the sound parameters (filter, modulation...) during the execution, is it possible to record a program change in the synth/drums parts? or at least have every pattern with its own sounds?

    thanks :)

  • Read the instruction manual in the section on using song mode.

  • I actually quite liked this. kudos

I find it REALLY odd how the EM1 & EMX1 manage to consistantly produce REALLY decent music (out of one box). they're not massively specified machines.... they just seem to get the job done....

(I have an EM1 & brought an EMX1 yestaday heh)

  • brother, i bought one because of you :D

it's amazing! just beginning with it..

and i am ready to filter salt from my water sea ;)

    Love you!

  • hey man

sweet song btw! just a quick question - im thinking of getting an emx, the drums loop you got goin, is that a preset? or did you program that, and is it generally hard to do so?

    thanks

  • There are no preset drum loops on the EMX. You have to program everything yourself. But they do have quite a lot of demo songs on there to show you how many different kinds of music it can make. And if you are thinking of getting an EMX, don't hesitate! Buy it NOW! It is quite simply the most amazing thing ever invented by mankind. lol

  • It is much better in stereo, I like how the beat alternates between the right and left ears, reminds me of binaural beats.

  • Nice Sounding stuff man, My EMX Is showing up tomorrow! I can't wait.

  • Man this is such a great track. I just got my EMX about 20 days ago, and I've made a few simple patterns and videos like this are a bit overwhelming, that is exactly the kind of sound I'm looking for. Keep up the good work dude.

  • This is great to paint to....thanks!

  • I've had mine a week after using software for the past 2 years and i can't believe how fucking amazing this little box is. The only one problem i do have is that you can't upload your own samples to it but screw it. If your thinking of a roland. Don't!!

  • Yeah the ESX is for the samples. They are 2 separate units.

  • You can also use the EMX as a vocoder. It's pretty awesome. I set up my laptop out put through the EMX, and then output the EMX to my desktop. Makes the laptop mic so sensitive you can hear me across the room. And even the tiniest wisper, and it makes a voice if you use the grainshifter effect. All of those effects can be applied to your voice. Makes your voice sound like a musical instrument.

  • hey could you tell me how to use the emx as a vocoder? using the laptop out then plug into the audio in of the emx? thanks

  • Yeah using the EMX as a vocoder is fucking amazing. All those 16 effects can be applied to your voice. Plug a mic into the input of the EMX and make sure the "Audio Thru" button in not lit up. Then on the synthesizer selector for your instrument, choose Audio In + Comb. Then turn on a effect for that part. Press down on any of the keys and your voice is changed by whatever sound effect you used. The grainshifter is the shit. But you can't adjust your voice by playing different keys. All are same

  • Thanks for the heads up! I've been thinking this was possible, but just couldn't figure it out.

  • i love this song - great - 5 points - please make more of this songs !!!

  • Lookin at getting one of these badboys... u said this was your first song? very impressed mate keep up the good work!

  • Just want to comment that the Roland Groovebox series can't hold candle to Electribe. Don't even try.

  • great work ! keep creating cool music

  • This is Fucking Amazing Well done mait !

  • I'm debating between this an a Roland MC-808 and having a tough time deciding

  • Nothing can compare to the EMX -- NOTHING AT ALL!

  • Don't let the small size and low price confuse you -- the EMX can do things no other production station can do

  • Well the MC-808 is more advanced, but I am really impressed by the work i've seen on the EMX, including yours.

  • Have you even taken a look at the EMX manual? The MC-808 is not more advanced that the EMX

  • i just recently bougght a blue electribe and a kp3 to go along with it i am having trouble making my own music on it i guess i need a lil more practice

  • It's extremely overwhelming at first, especially when you flip through the manual and see everything the EMX can do. But after you make a few songs it will become 2nd nature and automatic. This song Sunrise was my 1st one, so that should tell you something. It's easier to just adjust the sounds until you find something you like, instead of trying to recreate what you have in your head already

  • This is great man, I love the song!

  • Thanks! Did you download the song also? Sounds much better because it's in stereo

  • Nice job. :-) I enjoyed the music very much mate. I subscribed to your channel and look forward to more, be it music or tutorials.

I'm still experimenting with my current setup, a Korg Micro X and an Electribe EA-1. So far i had the most fun programming new arpeggios into the Micro X. Another exciting feature is changing the gate-time and length in realtime. ;-) This really gives a song wings.

Hopefully i can upload some of my own tunes real soon.

Meanwhile keep it up mate! Doing great!

  • There are 7 songs at the link in the video description

  • I've visited this video everyday for the past week, I can't get enough of it! I love the whole ambient sound you have created, it's incredibly hypnotic. It's inspired me to finally pick up my own EMX this week, after months of umming and ahhing. I look forward to any possible tutorials! :)

  • Thanks! Why don't you download the song instead of watching the video? The sound quality is much more hypnotic in stereo because it moves from left to right.

  • just how long did it take you to make this?

keep up the good work, thinking of getting one now.

  • I made this track just a few weeks after I got the EMX. I worked on it a little bit each day for about a week. But still when I listen to it, I sort of amazed that I was able to do it so easily.

Click on the link to go to Music section of my website, then click on the Korg Electribe link. At the bottom left of the page you will see a box -- click on the "For the Product" tab, then select the "Support" tab. Then you can download the entire manual as a PDF file.

  • Once you take a look at the manual, you will see just how much this baby can do, and how complicated programming it can be. But once you actually start using it, everything becomes easier and easier until you just remember how to do everything required to shape the sounds the way you like them. It's a bit tricky to make them sound astral and ambient. I'll tutorial vids sometime that show some techniques I've figured out.

  • it is mad to think that all the sound is coming from just one thing

  • this is incredible. i'm going to pick up one of these someday! keep those beats coming, too, dude!

  • very well done. I'll have to up some emx vids soon.

  • I've not got a working camera to film it, and I dislike it when videos on YouTube have been filmed on a phone or something, rubbish quality. I'll be asking my mate for his camera to do it soon. What I'm thinking of doing for now is uploading a few of my EMX songs, got a remixed version of "Shock The Monkey" I did on the EMX, Microkorg and KP2.

  • I'm eally liking the sounds you've produced here, very suited to my taste when I create songs on the EMX. Great song thanks for uploading!

  • How come you have no videos of your EMX music?

  • Hi Alchemist,

    Like the song!

I just got the Kaospad 3 and gonna buy the emx as well!

I got inspired by the music on youtube, so thnx!

  • Oh man I want the Kaos pad!

  • ofcourse u do! ;)

  • Hopefully soon I will be getting the ESX and the kaos 3 pad also. I still need an equalizer and good amp for the final output...what do you recommend?

  • I recommend that u buy a good amp. and leave the equalizer... If u do buy a good amp you dont need the eq.

For the amp you should look for your prize range...

    Succes!

  • Well that doesn't help me one little bit! lol

  • lol

Try and go for a mixer/amp with an eq built in. That way there's no unnescessary money spent.

  • I saw a giant equalizer at the pawn shop for a thousands bucks even. Looked liked one you see in a studio with the sliders moving up and down automatically as the music plays.

  • hi man, great sound, loved it. could you tel me or someone if that its better this emx ou the microkorg?

  • The Korg micro is nothing compared to the Korg EMX

  • whow do you record with this quality ? audio.

  • Youtube cuts the sound quality down to 16bits and mono which means all sounds get merged together into one garbled load of junk. On my website link you can download the song in high quality stereo sound at over 128bits 44Kz.

  • The EMX puts out very high quality sound. Recording is easy, but you need to adjust your computer audio input level to low, then turn up the EMX audio level. If you do it vise-versa, there will be a hissing sound during the quite moments. I didn't realize this at first, so the first tracks on my website all have that hissing sound, and since I recorded them in live mode, I didn't feel like doing them all over again.

  • Yeah i'm feeling that! Good to see something a little slower and more chilled out.I've gotta get the red and the blue to start myself off making tunes...good work my man!

  • Thanks Stuart! You will be one extremely happy mo-fo if you get both the sampler and synth at the same time! I will be very be jealous! I wish I had a lot more free time to spend making music and videos with the EMX. After you use it for a while, it becomes so easy to remember how to make any sound you are imagining in your mind. Very satisfying to be able to engineer your own sounds and get them just how you like. But often the best sounds come by mistake

  • what would be really sweet,

if you add a breakcore beat at the end(:

  • I know. There are a million things that would make it better, but I get bored and move on to the next one.

  • usually i'm a harsh critic when it comes to stuff like this but i gotta admit, it's a pretty badass piece of music, it'd be perfect for a music video or as a backdrop for a movie, lol

  • Thanks drifter. That's actually the way I was thinking about it when I was making it. Now I just gotta make the cool video to go with the music.

  • heh, well if you want you can post it on newgrounds so that people like me can make vids with it, lol

  • I really like this song.

    Thanks!

  • This korg is good machine. Looks like my Roland Fantom S is just nothing. Nice music I love stuff like that. After spinning records at the club just get home and listen to relax.

  • Yeah, the EMX can make so many different types of beautiful music that I often dream I'm making music with it. I love it to death!

  • Hogh great song btw =)

du u know the difference between the blue electribe MX and the red one cause im gettin one sson and i wanna know which is better for what i want to do with it thx =)

  • Unfortunately it's not red, it's bright pink...lol

That's the one for sampling sounds. The blue one is the synthesizer.

  • Very nice

  • so you recorded the melodies on the emx, not a separate keyboard? The emx does both drums and melodonic phrases?

  • Yes, it has 9 spaces for drum parts you program, and then it has 5 spaces for synth parts. There is a keyboard with 16 keys, and 8 levels, so there are 128 different notes for each instrument. There are 76 instruments for the synths whic can be edited so much they don't even sound like any instrument you've ever heard. And there are 207 different drums. They only thing missing is the ability to load sounds from outside (like samples). But that's what the ESX does. Eventually I will get that one.

  • Correction: I just noticed that although there are 16 keys for the step pad, the 13th key becomes the 1st key when you change to the next level of the keyboard, so there are actually 96 notes for each instrument, not 128.

  • Great tune, reaall ambient

  • Nice work. and i know what you mean about loading to tube the sound quality suffers a lot . i bet this sounds great in stereo.

  • o yeah, good song!! i forgot to include that

  • im getting the emx tomorrow and its completely new to me. i was worried that it couldnt make slower music compared to the ADHD techno i hear on youtube, but thanks to you i can now understand

  • Oh yeah it can make any kind of music you want. It come with something like 200 sample song patterns of all different styles to show you what it can do. You will love it.

  • thats really good

  • Thank you very much kind person! I like it, but I figured people would be really critical about how it doesn't change much and isn't very complex. But hey, I just started usng the EMX, and for the first track, I think I put good emotion into it.

  • not bad, not bad...
