When Ronnie hired Art Pyle as the new drummer,, the band really shifted into high gear, and built on the foundation that they laid years ago back in Jacksonville.
Steve Gaines was just making his mark when.... Well, you know.
I'll never get tired of this CLASSIC Rock n Roll song.
@PooPoo2U If ur saying the singing is not loud enough, its not supposed to be really loud. It's supposed to be good and something that describes a life experience............unlike rap and heavy metal where as they just put words together and think everyone likes them , but they will never compare to the greatness of Lynyrd Skynyrd
Hi! I just commented on the post of Sweet Home Alabama, but yes - it has to be said again.: The Stones were totally horrible that day. Completely unrecognizable tunes. A crushing disappointment. I genuinely thought at the time: "Gimme Three Steps" would have to be the best song the Stones never wrote.
man, before you shoot mouth trying to be a smartass, do your homework. the song was written because his girlfriend at the time asked him "if I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?"
Why don't you tell the guy who actually downright said it was about freedom? And I'm not like, a die hard Skynyrd fan, I like a few songs that I've heard and stuff so I don't know a whole lot about them. Sorry If I offended you. But thanks for straightening it out? :\
wanna put some money on that? the song was written originally because allen collins had the chord progression stuck in his head and wanted to write a song with it, and then came up with the opening lyrics when his then-girlfriend kathy asked "if i leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?"
and just for future reference: just because something is on slide doesn't mean it was made because of duane allman, that's just stupid. the song was written well before duane even died, and skynyrd played it as a TRIBUTE to him. they did NOT write it for him.
Drove down from Newcastle to see these guys with German GF Ursula who wanted to see the Stones. Both were brilliant. Todd Rundgren and Utopia was a bonus. We had her mate's flat in London overnight so it was truly brill - comfy bed indoors instead of a sleeping bag in a tent.
This is a great collection of videos of Lyn/Sky live from 1976. I was at Calif. Aug. 1977 live show and they were awesome! There performance was so good it was crisp, tight, loud and unforgettable. Unfortunately I think that was one of their last performances. The plane crash was in October 1977. Thanks for this trip down memory lane '92586tony' great posts.
I know! They never show him on this whole freaking dvd, except for Workin' For MCA. Even when he's playing the crap out of the piano in Call Me the Breeze.
where is the solo in the end?! 0.0

Ya they blew the little fag Mick Jagger and the Stones away too. The Stones live music was all distorted and sounded like shit. R.I.P. FREEBIRDS.

Was actually written for Duane Allman, hence the slide guitar.
