Once you finish high school and venture onto college the primary reason for the requirement to re-take some subject matter courses such as English and Math is based on a few things. This was determined after a great deal of study, to find out that the majority of students comming into the college life were NOT properly prepared to function in those areas at the level expectied of both the college and the accrediting body. It is up to the college to make sure you can graduate.

@judegenot If student's "aren't properly prepared" then there is something wrong with our prek- 12th grade schools.
