  • His ideas perfectly match his shirt...

  • Another Fora.tv vid where some numbnuts goes blah blah blah for 2 minutes. Pompous asshats!

  • I'm annoyed in some ways that this is being heralded as another brilliant move by Apple. To me, the direction of technology is obvious. The implementation is not. It seems to me that it wasn't obvious to Apple either. They made a decent product, but it isn't the second-coming of Jesus. Get excited about innovative technology, Apple branded or otherwise.

  • Ipad is a large, portable picture frame. I'd like one, but I don't want to pay more than 500 dollars to pretend that it is more functional than a netbook.

  • To all you whiners saying how netbooks are better quality and better components and how Adam will destroy Apple/Eve, think again... NVIDIA is one of his too... As well is the origin of said outdated netbook... So unless you gain a trillion converts from the millions/billions that are already buying iPad up in bulk, what makes you think the netbook will survive when the originator has moved onto a different technology?

  • Your a bunch of trolling fools to try and go against what is already being established...

  • "It does everything a Netbook can do." Did this guy ever use either of them?

Netbooks is simply a marketing term for a cheaper and smaller Notebook. In a few years that term will be forgotten. The iPad is simply an oversized PDA.

  • Apple's PR and Marketing are amazing. Hitler could learn about propaganda from them. Doesn't work on me though.

  • BTW I noticed Mr. Thom is not an engineer, but a "Senior Media Manager." Don't even mention that he works at Intel. He's that unimportant. He's the shit under Intel's boot, or the sweat betwixt their ass cheeks. Who cares what his fucktarded opinion is?

  • What an imbecile. The iPad cannot do things the Netbook can and it's more expensive. Your applications all must be purchased from a proprietary store and in a proprietary format. If Apple doesn't approve it, you cannot purchase it. If you do not purchase it, you cannot have it. And no flash.

The iPad can go fuck itself as far as I'm concerned.

BTW I noticed how this guy had a tendency to talk with his hands and had a soulpatch. I'm not surprised he said this shit, nor that he owns an iPad.

  • I don't think it's much more personal, lol. A netbook can do everything an iPad can do and more, for less money. They have better hardware too. iPad's are just prettier and more discreet to use in public.

  • @AbsotivelyNothingful

I'd rather wait until the Adam tablet by Notion Ink comes out if your looking for something as useful as a netbook, along with being discreet and pretty like the iPad. Discreet and pretty is about all the iPad has going for it. The Adam will kick the iPads ass! Android 2.2 OS, NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 1080p video output via HDMI port, Pixel Qi Transflective liquid crystal display, 32 GB storage with expandable Micro-SD slot, 2 USB ports, Flash support, multitasking etc.

  • One question: Why is a single product, the ipad used in comparison with a whole genre? Its not as if tablet portables are in principle synonymous to the ipad.

Apple can work its PR, no need to buy into it.

  • @Cafeeine

Here's the answer to your question. Reality distortion field. Steve Jobs can sell anything to his cult followers, even if it lacks major features and is built out of dated technology from over a year ago. The RDF also allows his followers to make retarded claims and unfair comparisons without facing major criticism.

  • @AlbinoClock I never said anywhere that Flash was on the way out. I stated it would be used when it's loopholes were fixed. I also when using the term you for the consuming flame was referring to myself and not you. As for any supposed 'claim to have knowledge of your personal beliefs' is erroneous as I also never did that as well... You sure make a lot of assumptions...

  • I have yet to understand the allure of the iPad. I guess I'm just not enough of a fanboy to want an ipod touch with a bigger screen. I've played with the iPad and while it is cool, its just not THAT cool.

  • @AlbinoClock Tuff shit... Until Flash, which He own anyways, gets updated and can block all the loopholes then it ain't going to be used on any scale in any newer computers. Accept that Flash, based on how they respond, on the way out...

  • @AlbinoClock That's because over the years I have found out that when you stand for everyone, some of them who you stand for start turning on you trying to do away with you. I am not afraid of someone who does not believe in God, but also know that there are some who know God exists and they will still deny that He exists, all in their effort to usurp His authority. You let a flame burn too long and it could consume you.

  • I've watched this three times and I have no idea what Campbell's point is.

  • @eszettfromhell his point is, ipad integrates into what we already do, except you can't hook it up to your t.v. yet!

  • @particletheory

if your tv has a vga port(most modern ones do) you can hook it up with the ipad vga cable. After that it just depends if the app your using supports video out, thats up to the developer of the app to integrate.

  • AHAHAHAHHA! ya ... right... Shun the doughe.. shuuuuuuuuunnnnn

  • Oh please, the tablet will never catch on. The iPad is essentially a large phone, and there's no decent tablet that runs the Windows OS. Netbooks will still be the portable computer of choice.

  • If only it had flash.. lol.. I can't believe this guy is paid for things.. He's such a douche.

  • @newexperiment Agreed!

  • Public Open source is the Corporate Killer!

  • @AlbinoClock iPad does not run Flash because as EVERYONE knows Flash also allows hackers in. What you mean their is no key board, I see one on the display... Everyone wants sleek and defined and that is what it delivers...

  • VNC FAIL

You don’t need hands-on access to work with a netbook. Remote access to netbooks can be surprisingly easy, which can be an advantage if you find the keyboards too small for comfort. Most come with a version of VNC installed – or available from online repositories.

  • VNC FAIL (cont.)

Once you’ve configured the server with passwords you can log in to a client’s machine from anywhere with an Internet connection, even using a Windows PC. Most netbooks allow remote access using a built-in copy of the VNC screen sharing program. You can use any of the many VNC viewers to connect to and control a netbook.

  • In the end, nothing is fail safe when you have a human running a system or computer... They make mistakes and download apps that eventually allow their computing devices to be corrupted... But with iPad, if they leave it be, and don't add dangerous apps, it will work flawless for years I am sure... That should be enough time for us to get our jobs done... After that it will be every man for themselves anyways and I don't plan on being here... :0)

  • @2222554

I'd rather not have my computing device hold my hands and tell me what I can do.

  • @LouisLeGros Then you should feel right at home with a Netbook... Use it while you have it... Eventually as was stated in this video the iPad will kill the Netbook. The 'Netbook' that Apple was the originator of... Seems reasonable... Closing down one aspect to makethe better system...

  • Once I'm done taking down Scientology I'm going after Apple. Down with cults!

  • @sKepptiksowat And you call yourself a good 4Chan member... Geeez...

  • Netbook History; The origins of the netbook can be traced to the Network Computer (NC) concept of the mid-1990s. In March 1997, Apple Computer introduced the eMate 300 as a subcompact laptop that was a cross between the Apple Newton PDA and a conventional laptop computer. The eMate was discontinued, along with all other Newton devices, in 1998 with the return of Steve Jobs.

  • The real reason clowns running around saying how the iPad is no better than the 'netbook' is because they are probably hackers on the side, and they NEED the 'Network Computer' set up so they can gain access illegally. With the iPad, computer networks, and others on them hacking, no longer is an issue...

  • @2222554 Don't smoke and post, kids.

  • @LokiClock

    No Hacks With iPad (cont.)

But those do not come with the iPad and I personally do not suggest that you download them or you are opening up your computer with same said VNC... In computing, Virtual Network Computing (VNC) is a graphical desktop sharing system that uses the RFB protocol to remotely control another computer.

  • @LokiClock

    No Hacks With iPad

In the iPad there is no file management system. Which means hackers do not know what or where your files are. Including the system files. Which is what they need to get inside. Now it's possible to set up a VNC in iPad, using Microsoft apps.

  • @LokiClock Most people assume that Loki was Thor's friend and companion. But that's not the true story. Loki was an infiltrator... The type who moves in close to gain access, and to spy... Loki was Thor's greatest enemy... The friend to your face who would stab you in the back the second it's turned...

  • If you will recall the writings even say "Loki would follow Thor everywhere he went."

  • As for being a follower, sure shows Loki was not a leader...

And as Paul Harvey would say... 'Good Day'...

  • @2222554 Jesus Henry Christ you're sad. You must have sent a gazillion messages to people who obviously couldn't care less about your opinion and Googled "knowledge".

  • @Canterwoodcore So be it then... I am sure there are people who could care less about my opinion... So you got me there...

  • @zenithsage My kids is 5. The other is 10. A lot of their friends play on their parents iPhones and Droid phones. They don't like buttons, and most of them want iPads. Maybe for the older crowd, but the kids now entering their teens and the teens entering adulthood will bring that sea-change. And as a product of the 1990's, when the worldwide web came into being, I can tell you that sea-change comes fast.

  • @magog1138 Kids, teens and young people are interested in _anything_ that's new, shiny, and overhyped. Analyzing them to see what the future will bring is a mistake.

  • @orsations Of course it is important not to overestimate that sense of wonder, but it is also not wise to underestimate it. I mean, you're on a video site started by a bunch of "kids" and my small business is in tech that I technically started in 1995 doing it around school when teachers needed help with this "new fangled" internet. My friend's art cooperative started in H.S. too in the 1990's, heavily tech-based and now it's a staple in the community. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

  • @magog1138 You kinda twisted my point. Looking at (consumer) kids to see what will stick in the future vs looking at what (entrepreneur) kids produce - not the same thing.

  • and the gpad will smoke both.

  • A netbook can easily replace and do everything a desktop computer can do for the majority of PC users, no problem. An iPad is just a compliment for rich people's overpriced and underutilized computers. Only people with too much money spend $3000 on a computer to send email and troll Facebook.

  • I used to have a Psion Mx5 palm top, such 'companion pieces' increase productivity and self organization substantially if one uses them to their their potentials & likes them.

The ipad is not for me until it gets a little more grunt under the hood.

Taking breaks by playing new games, or other 3D representations of environment are important utilities too,.

Until ipad gets better processing power and GFX, laptops & phone aps rule IMO.

  • I have an APAD I got in Japan, it uses the Android interface. acts just like the android and crushes the iphone and ipad.

Also I have an MID also from Japan that uses windows and it also crushes the iphone, it's fast uses wifi and has tons of bells and whistles. I use it every where, the APAD is kewl but not in the same league.

  • Ipad is an inferior product. A medium range netbook is better in literally every way other than aesthetics.

  • @Ricky103 yep, this guy is either having no idea what he's talking about, or he's just doing stupid marketing.

  • @Ricky103 HA! You're full of it...

  • @Ricky103 Don't underestimate aesthetics, it's what's been selling Apple's products for a long while and it's been doing its job well.

  • @Ricky103 i don't think so, cause a netbook doesn't have the apps that you can easily find and use. Also you have to open a netbook in order to use it. and start it up.

I don't have an iPad, but to say that it is inferior just because of the hardware specs it's silly. Unless you are trying to replace a full featured laptop with it, or a desktop. as a companion the iPad IMHO is better than any netbook.

i don't think you can get apps, read a book, play a game, visit facebook as easy using a netb

  • @FincheLaVaccaVa A windows netbook has access to hundreds of millions of apps. As for finding them, google? Some netbooks take no time at all to start up and the ipad takes 10 seconds anyway so its not instant boot.

Having inferior specs makes all the difference, it allows for better quality experience in just about every aspect.

It's ironic because a netbook can do all those things you listed at the same time, only faster and better, while the ipad can only do 1 at a time.

  • iPad is a common sense killer. Just look at that guy.

  • Yeah, really, who the hell put him that shirt?
