  • hit ` and say noclip off.

  • lol they had the playstation move in the early 90s ???

  • someone had no clip on

  • If you don't want to seem stupid, don't call a computer cutting edge, powerful or fast :D

  • Trippy Charlie.

  • I love this series. It explains evolution, etc... in such crystal clarity and fundamental simplicity (to work for children) but in this simplicity, it also shows how overcomplicated creationist explanations don't have half as much logic. It's like the education I never got, growing up in Catholic school. Dawkins is great.

  • yes the simple really do believe Dawkins, I agree

  • I think it takes some complexity to face your beliefs and actually question them. The point is Dawkins is able to explain the clarity of WHY evolution makes sense, which is something priests can never do to something as etherial and nonexistent as an intervening God.

  • What really weirds me out about this is that I would have been about 7 years old when this thing was made.

I'm 23 and working as a Software Developer... It's kind of humbling to realize that at the time this video was made, it would all have been new to me.

  • that last comment was for dqd58's post on the last page, it didnt get place underneath his post though for some reason

also sorry if this is a double post, since it didnt seem to post the first time

  • that last comment was for dqd58's post on the next page, it didnt place my comment underneath the post for some reason

  • fyi: the 1st comment page of youtube always sucks. (don't know why, they have plenty of cash to have someone fix it)

  • Damn that illusion mask made my stumy turn around. I could not even se the back site as the back site, but only as a face turning in the wrong direction, even when i tried to see and believe otherwise :)

  • Ahh, 1991 technology. So nostalgically primitive.

  • that computer game is kinda funny retrospectively.

  • lol at that computer. It's so awesome :D

  • Is that VR or a Dire Straights Video? I work in 3d (as if you couldnt tell) but I must say, Ive ALWAYS hated VR, Ive tested a number of VR helmets and goggles and they are never convincing, never "feeling" 3D. Ive always loved the inverse 3d "chaplin mask" concept (Disney used this in the Haunted Mansion, and still used to this day.)

  • That computer is so high tech.

  • I don't see how any idiot could beleive in a god. It is well known that the common people of the worlld where created from mounds of mud whipped up by one of several gods. The better people where individual scuplted from the clay. Duh! Well this could be true if you beleived in japanese mythical creation. Well the story goes something like that. Why do most people have a religion then? Becuase we are great at imagining things to help understand our enviroment.

  • It's a lecture not a seminar. The R.C. Church accepts evolutionary theory. Does this mean they are anti-God?

I would ask you to state why you think RD is wrong rather than making what can only be considered as cheap statement.

  • he uses the examples of the brain's reaction to illusions and then extrapolates from there that we make up our own realities, that is babbling. and yes I believe the RC church is anti- god.

  • well he seems to not be pointing out illusions, but more that perhaps the world can be very illusory...

that's getting to the heart of phenomenology

  • God is Imaginary

  • so are you

  • "so are you"

What a strange comment, so you must be writing to yourself? Because if I am a delusion then I must be your delusion, as you are the one writing to me...

This doesn't bode well for your sanity...

  • how do you know I am imaginary?

  • I didn't say you were imaginary... I think you are real.

I said, if I am imaginary, then as you are the one writing to me, I must exist in your imagination, meaning that you must be writing to someone imaginary, and therefore you must be delusional.

    Understand?

  • show me proof other than the scribblings of a over-thousand year old book. I await.

  • the book makes predictions (prophecies) that came to pass, no other so called religous book does. explain that

  • can you elaborate on that please, wich prophecies are you talking about?

  • They never do. Forget these type of people they are screwed up.

  • Can you elaborate on that please, what prophecies are you talking about?

  • well there are exact prophesies as to when the jews would be released from babylon, prophecies about the roman empire, alexander the great, byzantine. prophecies about jesus death, birth and resurection, investigate them for yourself, you have no intellectual right to criticise the bible's accuracy unless you research it for yourself.

  • Is there anyhting concrete about recent global events, for example, about 9/11?

  • what do you want a telegram?

  • that would help, thank you, but ill be happy with just a quick reference, just to know where to look more closely

  • In Micah 5:2, there is a prophecy that reveals that Bethlehem would be the birthplace of the Messiah.

For Christians, the prophecy is very powerful in a very simple way. It eliminates all other cities and towns throughout the world as a place in which the Messiah could be born. It narrows the possibilities to one tiny village just south of Jerusalem.

  • That assumes that the bible was written before the event.

You're also trying to prove the vadility of the Bible, by showing how it predicts something that is written in there later on.

You see what I'm saying? It's a circular argument. You're taking the fact Jesus was born in Bethlehem as 100% fact, because it's written in the Bible; and then you prove the Bible is true by saying in an earlier part it says that's where he will be born.

  • It's nice to just limit yourself to one particular verse, but if you read the whole chapter, it doesn't make much sense. The bible says (Micah 5:1-5) that someone will be born in Bethlehem who will rule over israel and he will rule until the end of the world, bringing peace and making israel a safe place to live and with seven shepherds he will destroy Assyria and Nimrod by the sword...

Has Jesus done such a thing? Is Israel safe or peaceful?

  • Isreal wasn't a safe place for Jesus either, you need to take the whole counsel of God on the matter, he died, rose from the dead and will return to rule.

  • Amazing the gospels they dcided to leave out e.g. The Gospel According to Mary Magdalene

I'd love to know what fiscal policy Jesus would implement. I mean you should have some idea how he would- within his rule- deal with the credit crunch! No doubt you will spew out things like God and Love, Jesus and Love, God Jesus love. There is never anything pragmatic. Perhaps Jesus could dress up as teddy bear and shake a charity box.

  • your hope is in money then?

  • We have to live, we have to eat, we need warmth, we need shelter etc. What would his solution be to those families who cannot afford to pay their mortgages in order to keep a roof over thir heads? Jesus freaks like you keep saying Jesus will rule and that he is the answer. What would his solution be if he ruled? What economic system does he favour? e.g Capitalism, communism, socoialism. If he is going to rule in the physical world he has to have a fiscal plan.

  • Go on waffle on about the after life.

  • we should all be looking after one another, if you look in the book of Acts you will see that the purist model of those following Jesus was to look after one another, not just spiritually but monetarily/physically, so you see Jesus does have an answer. But again when you bow down to him who created you what will your excuse be? You were too busy talking to your financial planner to consider him?

  • He owns the cattle on a thousand hills, do you really think he worries about a fiscal plan? Your idea of God is very insecure and limited my friend, you seem more interested about a fiscal plan than your eternal destiny. storing up for yourself things on this earth is not much of a plan, would rather store up eternal rewards that moths and rust can't touch. may God open your eyes to eternity and give you peace.

  • I'm a communist that is I believe we should all reap the rewards of our labour. We should all have nice food, houses, clothes, education, leisure time etc. A system based on co-operation and the end of exploited labour for profit. That is what I stand for. I don't need wait around for a supernatural being who is going to come out from a sugar candy mountain in the sky. You need to grow up and rid yourself of these fairy tales they have filled you up with. Think like an intelligent adult nota 5yrd

  • People like yourself are too busy walking around with head in the clouds talking of god and love. The religious (false) solution to everthing is charity. Dress up as teddy bears and shake money boxes and wait for the return of Jesus to do your thinking for you.

You need think for yourself! We as humans can solve the problems of the world. We would do it a lot quicker if people would stop believing in religious clap trap and face reality.

  • If you really believe in social justice you would be arguing for true communism. The pious always reject this. They want social justice but under capitalism. This is what religion is about, getting people to accept capitalism and looking for capitalistic solutions for capitalistic problems. Ask Sir Cliff Richard to give 90% of his wealth away.

He would still be wealthy. It just never works that way with rich Christians. The starving of this world need food not the endless preachings of the pious

  • You hsve no answer to anything. People like sinmply rant on God love, Jesus Love, God Love, You are fucked up big time. I've no time for cretins! Bye

  • sow

  • any prophecies made are written down in a very vague way, and given that there is never a set time period it is obvious that a vague story would eventually come true, this isnt gods work i could make a prediction now wait a 1000 years and it would of come true plenty of times,as long as i left my prophecy open to interpretation

now if it said that on september 11th 2001 that a jumbo jet flew into 2 tall buildings, that would be impressive,

  • i doubt it said it like that, if you qoute the exact phrase i reply, but thats just what you say so i wont bother arguing

  • What if i say the entiore idea that Jesus died for our sins is based on an ancient past tense Psalm that probably was about a lepra victim? (Jesaja 53). Check the English Wikipedia on Original Sin if you doubt me.

  • It's highly questionable whether Jesus was born in Bethlehem, and surely to allocate Jesus the property of being the Messiah is to beg the question?

The Torah also predicts that Jesus would create a kingdom of Israel, but of course he didn't. The ad hoc "kingdom of heaven" is the only substitute offered, but that's not what was prophesised. Finally, he tried to change the laws of the Jewish god, which is just bizarre: why would god's law change?

  • there is a concept in prophecies that invalidates them as soon as they make a prediction that is self-fulfilling. A Jewish book gives rise to the belief among Jewish people that their country will be reestablished. These people who believe these prophecies will then work towards fulfilling these prophecies. A genuine prophecy never has happened. Predicting the exact date and time of an earthquake for example.

  • I suppose to an unintelligent person, Dr. Hawkins does sound as if he were babbling.

  • I read about the mask demonstration in his book and wondered, "how cool could it be?" but it's way cooler than I imagined. :D Wow..

  • That mask demonstration is incredible!

  • Think about how incredible it was 16 years ago!

When I was in high school, virtual reality was supposed to be the next big thing (I even played VR games at a mall, but it was expensive, and the graphics were about as crappy as that), but it never caught on, as the helmets were big, heavy, clunky, and expensive, but now it could easily be done (and even as a standalone helmet with controller). So where's the MODERN Virtual Boy? :/

  • Whoops, I replied too soon! You really meant the mask demonstration and not the VR one... *blushes*

  • He's wrote many books and they r certainly not put under science fiction. I take it your a creationist cretin. You have no freedom of speech here as u yourself would want to ban free speech and knowledge. You r however free to download and upload these vids yourself and then u can make all the brain dead comments u wish. your blocked

  • If Richard Dawkins was a book, he'd be in the science fiction section of the local library.

  • The genius! It's overwhelming!

  • heway the lads!

  • BRAVO BRAVO And BRAVO!

  • BRAVO
