Great riding I have a really foward going welsh cob called Charlie (Charles) he Is really hard to get going some days I have had him for around 4 years now and I have just started to canter him and jump high oxers with him but my mum best friend had to break him in for me! you we're doing great for such a short time riding :) I hate when people make nasty comments towards beginners, we we're all there. And the horse is a forgiving animal, he can sense when there is no ill will towards him and he doesn't mind teaching beginners!

@webkinzlover2021 Ahh my only advice would be to keep him on the track by lots of pressure from your inner leg and outside reign, and lots of leg if you feel him slowing down into walk xx
@webkinzlover2021 No, PrincezChloe is incorrect there. She may have learned differently now that she's had more time, but you should let the horse make the mistake at a walk, then bump him over. Do it EVERY TIME, and eventually he'll CHOOSE to stay near the rail for understanding that that is what you want. Repeat at trot, then canter. You shouldn't keep him from making a mistake- that's HIS job.
@TheRebecca091 It ranges in different riding schools x But this one is pretty expensive and is £17 for half an hour! Partly why im not doing lessons anymore x
@jasminerebeccagray You think thats bad? My horse riding school is £35 for one hour private lesson and half of the time when you get a private lesson you have to do it with someone else because they only have enough time for one lesson. So it's not really private haha.

@TheRebecca091 i live in new jersey where it is very expensive so sometimes i have to pay with my own money because my sister also rides and my parents cant afford to give both of us a lesson every week but where i ride it's $45 for a half hour...i ride at ramapo equestrian center...you should look at the website and they have some nice youtube videos also :)

@lifesasunshine riding isn't just about how much you can do. it's about forming a bond with your horse, cantering is fine but if you don't respect and understand your horse your horse won't respect you or what you want him/her to do
just a few pointers from rider to rider dont take this the wrong way but i get the same corrections a lot ive also only been riding for 6 months and lessons every other week!
1) try to keep your hands closer together
2)heels down a little bit more
3) try to post a little less because you post high just like me and im trying to get better at it
4)just relax and trust in your horse and HAVE FUN!

@CharisBlack1 Ahh you will soon get the hang of it! XXX By the sounds of it, the horse your riding is just generally lazy x Tips to get her going would be to keep your hands a bit forward to encourage her so your not pulling back on the bit, Give her a squeeze with both legs, and if she still doesnt respond - give her a kick! Or what i find works is to give them a tap on their neck with the reigns like a cowboy ;D And just think in your head positively! XX Good Luck for next lesson! XX
@CharisBlack1 I read your comment and was thinking about it. I've been having lessons for a little over a year and I didn't start cantering until about a month or two ago. And about only bad riders kicking that is not true. My riding teacher encourages it. Something that she told me to help with riding a lazy pony is ask,ask,tell,then demand. I always use that for the pony I ride. Hope this helps. Good luck.:)
@PrincezChloe well my riding partner had a bad fall( a REALLY bad fall) and lost his confidence and he is slowly regaining it and i dont want to rush him but also the lesson before the fall we cantered a little but i kept falling on the horses neck and she would throw her head up and down because of it but now i can sit to it better because she will always canter to get away from 'the scary thing'

AWESOME =D you ride extremely good for the time you have ridden. Unfortenetely I learnt to ride the hard way on probably not the best horses out there :/ Lost my confidence and regained it on my new horse Phantom. keep up the good work and sure what other people have mentioned that you need to improve on, you'll soon pick up extremely quickly at the pace your going. You should be very happy =D
make him go faster if hes going too slow. dont rise so high up in the saddle if hes going slow cuz it looks weird and un professional. rise just a little where its very comfy for u id do it all day
hi, i have been riding for 5-6 years and i think you ride awesomley. few tips though: on your canter you might want to push your heels down a little bit more and you should let loose of the reins just a bit. i think your a great rider, and one question what state is this in?

any tips i reallllllly want to horseback ride so baddd im 13 but my mom says its expensive:( how can i convincce and im dont think its that bad right cause i did competitve cheer and it was 2000 per year.. so any tips and when did u start riding??

hiya i have only had 4 riding lessons and am not so much of a natural although im not terrible lol i am only trotting and learning control and that but i have trouble getting my horse going! she walks slow and trots slow and my instructer has to use her whip to get her going, also she tells me to kick her on i do this but she dont respond and recently i was told that only bad riders kick, very confused x

@CharisBlack1 Ahh you will soon get the hang of it! XXX By the sounds of it, the horse your riding is just generally lazy x Tips to get her going would be to keep your hands a bit forward to encourage her so your not pulling back on the bit, Give her a squeeze with both legs, and if she still doesnt respond - give her a kick! Or what i find works is to give them a tap on their neck with the reigns like a cowboy ;D And just think in your head positively! XX Good Luck for next lesson! XX

@CharisBlack1 I read your comment and was thinking about it. I've been having lessons for a little over a year and I didn't start cantering until about a month or two ago. And about only bad riders kicking that is not true. My riding teacher encourages it. Something that she told me to help with riding a lazy pony is ask,ask,tell,then demand. I always use that for the pony I ride. Hope this helps. Good luck.:)

i have been riding for 1yr and 1/2 for 1 hr each week not including horse camp for a week for 4-3 hrs last year and i haven't even cantered!

@PrincezChloe well my riding partner had a bad fall( a REALLY bad fall) and lost his confidence and he is slowly regaining it and i dont want to rush him but also the lesson before the fall we cantered a little but i kept falling on the horses neck and she would throw her head up and down because of it but now i can sit to it better because she will always canter to get away from 'the scary thing'

I love horses SO much too! I have been riding a 1 1/2 and that took so long to convince my parents to let me take lessons, now they love it I just got my own horse yesterday on Easter! I love her so much! Her name is Goldy!

any tips on how to get my confidence back on my horse I'm only 10 but my riding teacher thinks that I should be ready to canter but all the time I fall of when I am getting really good then I loose my confidence

AWESOME =D you ride extremely good for the time you have ridden. Unfortenetely I learnt to ride the hard way on probably not the best horses out there :/ Lost my confidence and regained it on my new horse Phantom. keep up the good work and sure what other people have mentioned that you need to improve on, you'll soon pick up extremely quickly at the pace your going. You should be very happy =D

make him go faster if hes going too slow. dont rise so high up in the saddle if hes going slow cuz it looks weird and un professional. rise just a little where its very comfy for u id do it all day

hi, i have been riding for 5-6 years and i think you ride awesomley. few tips though: on your canter you might want to push your heels down a little bit more and you should let loose of the reins just a bit. i think your a great rider, and one question what state is this in?
