  • Envy: You are going to take me to see hohenheim! To that bastard!! TO MY FATHER!!!

  • I love this music

  • I love this song. It's amazing. <3

  • Does anyone other than me think that a little piece of this sounds like a movie soundtrack? i was listening on my ipod earlier and noticed that the little bit 26-36 (and all repeating measures later on) sounds like something i heard in a movie but i can't figure out what movie. its bugging the crap out of me. if anyone agrees and has any idea what movie, please let me know.

  • @thebookiemoster and there had to be that one asshole......

  • You're my hero, I was look for this for a long time. Thank you!

  • Wow. The random person who disliked this after everyone said "no dislikes" is a real terd.

  • i love there is 0 dislikes on this

  • They used this on Baccano once. Kind of made my day.

  • @sacredgrove1313 That was a funny scene though if I recall

  • whats all the music played in episode 51 laws and promises, what was the name of the song playing when al bought ed back to life?

  • i'm learning this song right now. really hard but small price to pay to play this wonderful song

  • I really enjoyed hearing pieces such as this in FMA. This one in particular makes me think of a post WW1 Germany, in an era of peace (twas short lived though). What I really found interesting was how many famous classical pieces were played in FMA only AFTER Ed arrived in our world. Before that, all the music was entirely composed out of originality for Amestris. But when Ed set foot in Europe, the music transitioned to classical European music. And it fit well.

  • 0 people suck!!

  • I love how there are no dislikes =)

  • You´re taking me to Hoenheim !! To that Bastard !!! To my father !!!!

  • twas used in hetalia, 2 fantastic animes eh?

  • This song is so pretty, It made me cry when it played, not that I wasn't already crying because of the whole Roy getting shotand Riza crying over him thing :.(

  • Where can i get this Chopin Etude FMA version?

  • @KevinR3i a good site is ichigos.com

but the song is the first half and then finale of chopin's 3rd etude, which is also known as tristesse

the sheet music for that should be public domain =)

  • when I saw this sequence I cried, it was amazing.

  • Chopin's Etude?

  • love this song!! and I knew I've heard it somewhere before when my piano teacher picked the Chopin piece it's based on for my next one. and then I realized I heard it from FMA!

  • Is actually Étude Op. 10 No. 3, in E major, also called Tristesse by Chopin

  • For people looking for the sheet, it's hosted on Ichigo's sheet music. Google it. Now!

This is actually my favorite rendition for this piece I have heard. It's just so full of emotion.

  • I knew this song before the show even came out. When I first heard it on the show, my mother said I had a "spaz-attack". LOL!

  • This song and this show brings tears to my eyes. Thanks for uploading such a beautifull piece of work.

  • @grievousorvenom Horowitz and Rubinstein play it infinitely better.

  • Aw, my mom used to play this when I was like 5. NOW I remember hearing it in FMA. xD

  • Listen to this song

and I mean LISTEN to it

    as in FEEL it

  • 1:22 through 1:42 just makes me melt inside.

  • chocolate to the ears

  • I think everyone can agree with me that 1:05 and beyond is pure extacy to the ears.

  • listen to: étude No. 3 from Chopin's opus 10 , its the same lol xD

  • @LordEizen thank you, it had been bugging me where I'd heard this before. lol :D Still, regardless, a lovely piece of music.

  • @Vampiratelycan yea.. i didnt know but i read about it someplace else.. i like this piece better than chopins ... sorry chopin xD

  • okay well it didn't lemme, but if you really want it, please PM me. just make sure to tell me what it's about or i'll forget....^^;

  • Chopin ftw

  • this song has a calming touch to it, ya know?

  • I was skimming through songs on our electric piano and came across this I almost cried from nostalgia

  • @WonderfulAkari

Out of curiosity...was this piano a yamaha?

  • @SinsHalo Yes

  • @WonderfulAkari

I believe we may have the same piano. ;)

  • @SinsHalo *Gasp* Think we're related?

I have to go watch the ending of brotherhood so I can make fun of mustangs mustache

  • Makes me want to cry. Oh I did never mind. So Beautiful <33

  • shit i was listening to chopin on shuffle and this came on, i thought 'damn this sounds so familiar!' and looked it up on wiki, and it said that fma had a version of it! woah i remember this song now ;_;

  • i'm so happy i found sheet music for it.

  • @hibliskiss

    Care to share? :)

  • it won't let me post the link D:

  • @BambiiChan

    yeah, i'll PM you.

  • @hibliskiss oh where is it please tell me.

  • So beautiful and calming.

  • Fitting for a scene involving the most beautiful and least calming character of all.

  • This song was installed on my Keyboard . . . when I heard it I almost cried from happiness <3

  • Isnt this called "Trisstesse" By Chopin?

I have this sound track :3 and this is one of my favorite songs.....

  • "Michiru Oshima's Wakare no Kyoku (別れの曲 lit. Parting Song?) composition, which is the piano piece heard in episode 51, Laws and Promises, of the anime Full Metal Alchemist, was inspired by this melody. The piece itself was also used as background music for the episode. Wakare no Kyoku is also the widely known name of Chopin's piece in Japanese; this particular version used in Fullmetal Alchemist only contains the first theme."

    source: Wikipedia

  • Trisstesse was another song, which much like this one, incorporated Chopin's Etude Op. 10 No. 3 into it.

  • @cozynaruto it's called Etude in E major

  • @MilaElric

It's also called Tristesse, the French word for sadness

  • @cozynaruto Yes sir it is. Opus 10 No 3. One of Chopin's most revered works that transcends time itself. Chopin himself stated that he would never hear something as beautiful as this ever again. I'm inclined to agree.

  • @cozynaruto Close songs, but the one by choppin is different. Same introduction though

  • @cozynaruto Oshima based it on the Chopin etude, with some differences. That happens a lot... the opening theme of the anime Gankutsuou~ The Count of Monte Cristo, "We Were Lovers" by Jean-Jacques Burnel, is also based off that piece. All good versions/adaptations though. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. :D

  • @cozynaruto It is not named like this. It is the Etude No. 3 Op. 10

The name was not given by him.

  • i love this song <3 so beatiful :') it makes me cry and i get so calm when i hear it but 0:34 destroys the peaceful feeling -.-

  • OMG I so know what you mean! I love Chopin u.u

  • that song just took my breath away... O.O

  • this might be the most beautiful song ever

  • Chopin said the same thing: "In all my life I have never again been able to find such a beautiful melody." In a lesson with his pupil when playing this song, he started weeping and crying and said "Oh, my homeland."

  • 1:27 Favorite part. This is probably the only piece that makes me sad. Chopin's nocturne is amazing too

  • well in the series they only started playing classical music once Edward entered our universe. Before, the music in the episodes were composed for the series. The signifigance of the classical music, (Beethoven's 5th, Chopin's Tristesse), was to emphasize that Ed was in our world, and to set the tone of a Post WW1 Europe. It actually fits in quite well

  • Chopin Etude op. 10 no. 3.

  • If I was listening to this song while I knew I was going to die in a few seconds, I really wouldn't care, it's so beautiful.

  • i love it coz in this versio there's no fast part :D

  • Yeah, the fast part in the original totally destroys the peaceful feeling...

  • Agreed :P

  • Tristesse - chopin

    que hermosa cancion

  • This song already exist, it´s from Chopin I think, and yes it´s executed the very same way it has to be...only adapted a lil but it´s exactly the same, I think the point of this song is to show the viewers that they are in Munich 1921, our world and recognize that song as from this world...so it gives a background for where we are...

  • to that bastard!

    to my father!

  • this is suppose to be an actual classical song. When I first heard it on FMA, I flipped out a little. Awsome song! Always makes me cry!

  • This Chopin song is amazing.

  • Munich 1921

  • i love this song. This song makes me want to learn how to play piano!

  • I really liked this song when it played in the last ep, when roy was shot, and when Ed was in germany, ready to investigate rockets. This theme really has a classical 'european' feel to it.

  • It´s meant to provide that BG, remember he´s in our world, Germany...so I think they did it on purpose when they reproduced the song exactly as it is, they didn´t copy it, besides I don´t think Chopin would come up from the tomb to claim his royalties...

  • @clos1122 And that at the end of 51 episodes, the word best describing the series ending was bittersweet. Roy's shot, Ed's in Germany, Al's back in his human body but with no memory of pretty much any of the events of this series. And even though its sadness, there is hope for the two brothers to reunite.

  • beautifull interpretation.. but for those who don't know much about academic music.. this is actually Chopin's Etude op.10 #3, and its not even arranged.. its exactly as he wrote it, they just cut off all the middle section which is more lively, and then more tragical, and they repeated the begining part like twice and then pasted the ending (btw.. not a criticism! lol... i really love how well does this piece blend into the FMA scene it is played on)

  • @pianomanarikado I heard both this interp. and the original. This one seems more melancholic with a small sense of hope existing. The hope of a reuniting.

  • simply beautiful :x love it so much!

  • suuu pretty

  • this... made me think, beyond my window .. and out into the world beyond the horizons of time.

  • This is the Chopin's tristese etude

  • This is the first response I got when I typed the song's name on Google. Such a sad song.

  • if what some of you guys say is true, you really need help. I love anime and have watched FMA, Bleach(still am), Claymore, Deathnote, Zombie Loan, Nogami Neuro, Berserk, Murder princess, and more but that is weird if you do that shit.

Yes, I know my taste in anime is flawless.

If you haven't watched any of the ones I listed you need too.

  • >Bleach

    >Flawless

    Oh you.

  • Can you post "Marching Army"?

  • Was this song on "Grave Of The Fireflies"?

  • no it is not

  • It sounds like a song on that movie though.

  • it is

  • Being the hardcore FMA fan that I am, I recognized this song in a scene from SkyCaptain and the World of Tomorrow.

  • You probably caught Chopin's original composition then. This is a rearrangement.

  • chopin composed this michiru ooshima just rearranged it

  • This song almost brings tears to my eyes. A masterpiece.

  • This song makes me want to cry :( And re-watch FMA a third time.

  • Same. Literally. u_u

Only it'd be my fourth time. ♥

  • Rofl xD which also proves FMA is awesome.

  • FMA doesn't need proof thats its awesome

    it just is :D

    i mean

how can it NOT be amazing =D

Hiromu Arakawa has caused teens everywhere to end up in therapists offices trying to fix broken stuff by clapping their hands XD

  • ROFL xD true. I do that sometimes too o-o -proof that I'm hooked- O_O And you're right, it doesn't need proof it pwns, it just does.

  • lol, im hooked too xP

theres a hole in my wall (which i punched with my automail arm >=D)

and i was watching FMA all day one day, and i was tired, and like, out of it.

and i tried to fix the hole ._.

and my mom walked in and shes like

"what the hell are you doing? xD"

    ish was funny =3

  • ROFL really?

  • No complaints about the video. Ooshima is a phenomenal composer. However your YouTube name is DUCT TAPE!! Spell it right man! Unless you're trying to be grammatically incorrect, and that's just sad.

  • CHOOOPPIIINNNN YEEAHH!!!

  • This piece is awesome how it reflects how Ed is stuck in London and this song expresses London well.

  • It was a brilliant move placing this into the anime. Makes me wanna cry everytime for both versions.

  • an amazing song for an amazing show

  • this compared to the original its way shorter but its still one of my favorite anime songs

  • ur life is played shittily:DD

  • Actually, they're right. It could have been done better. I do love the song though. Very pretty.

  • Chopin is the best:D But this version has lots of changes in comparison to original etiude.

  • hey guys... chopin etude op.10 no.3 i found some links to it and this is that piece. why am i the last person to figure this out?

  • this is played when ed is looking at the gate

  • wow cool song

  • I'm crying ='(..

    Beautiful song... <3

  • the part where they played this was so sad, though mustang had died like hughes

  • Mustang never died, did he?

  • Hell no. He was mortally wounded during his fight with the Führer, but he never died.

  • Thought so

  • Because if he died... you'd all be deaf from the screaming and crying of fan girls all around the world. Myself included ;)

Love this song and I'm learning it right now.

  • Me too! Yet, I stink at it. It's quite hard.

  • Ahh... Chopin's Etude Op. 10 No. 3. Such peace this piece conveys...

The tempo could have been slower. But it probably wouldn't make much of a difference since the target audience only has low standards for such music. So I'd understand why they made an adaption of this piece to suit the anime.

  • Thats quite rude to say that the target audience only has low standards of music. Just cause this piece is not to your liking doesn't make is "low standards".I do respect your opinion of course but please don't try and judge what type of musical status everyone has for their music. Cause i for one have had many years of musical training and do not find this piece to be of low standards. It is a well rounded piano pieace

  • piece*

  • I don't think that fire1202 is meaning to say that this peice is a "low standard", but that the target audience (teen anime fans) has low standards for /classical music/ in particular. (i e, preferring pop/rock/techno/etc, etc over classic.) They sped it up to keep listeners accustomed to quick beats and exciting music from getting bored, I think. ^ ^ That's probably all fire1202 wanted to indicate.

As for my comment on the actual song:

Listening to it gives me the chills. Five stars. <3

  • even so =/ that is mean to say that that the target audience has low standards.

  • Well, fire1202 can rest. ^-^ I'm fifteen and absolutely in love with classical music. I don't know much about it, I'll admit, but it's so pretty. This is one of my favorite soundtrack pieces from FMA, if not *the* favorite.

  • Perhaps you should spend less time training music and focus more on training reading comprehension.

  • I feel the same kind of heart wrenching beauty in this song as in the movie American Beauty. If you haven't seen it you should. It won like a million awards and unlike Gladiator it got them for actually being a good movie.

  • beautiful, i feel it *tear* ;3

  • oh, i'm sorry, i forgot 2 say please make more too! :D

  • Yay! The next one I'll make is with the Gypsy's song from the FMA move, The Conqueror of Shamballa.

  • OMG!!!!!!! i would love to see more of these up here!

  • This song...is awesome. I watched the final episode of FullMetal Alchemist with the BGM in it and it really set the mood in the episode. One of the best songs that I've heard in years. This'll be in my favs.

"Ah, Chopin. You always make good music such as these."

  • Wow! Beatifull, thanks for upload this video.

Is my favorite song of FMA.

    Thank you very much

  • ahh...Chopin

  • this song is beutiful/yes i think you should make more of these videos

  • Probably my favorite piano song of all time. And the saddest.

  • Please comment and/or rate! I want to know if I should make more of these types of videos, ones solely for the purpose of listening to the music.

  • Pleaase comment and/or rate! If you do or don't will tell me whether or not to put up more things like this.
