  • things were tough back in those days, now all you have to do is drive under it.

one question. how is swimming the english channel a "service"?

  • Dorothy her has that most appealing combo of stunning and adorable here; not a very common combo.

  • Dorothy looks so beautiful here and it's true she should inspire bright girls everywhere.

  • Bennett wasn't the only one quick with a pun. Loved Fred's "channel" comment. I also like it when it's just a "regular" contestant (although I wouldn't exactly call Ms. Chadwick "regular"). It's fun to see the panel working towards the solution, as evidenced by Dorothy's explanation on how she arrived at the "line."

  • crepehanger47,

Thanks very much for posting these non-celebrity guests. I have really enjoyed the clips.

  • Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Thanx for posting this historic clip of a great athlete. Dorothy Kilgallen rules: she should inspire bright girls everywhere. Fred Allen performs brilliantly as well: his spontaneous comic wit still impresses 52 years after his death. WML's took years to figure out what to do with contestants with famous names but not famous faces: Early on Daly would, quite unnecessarily, blindfold the panel. This may be the 1st instance where someone (ALLEN) got the brainstorm to address such a person as X.

  • Actually Daly calls her "Miss X" at 0:25
