Really upset today. Bought a 1" green puffer and put him in with my cichlids. I have a 5" beautiful Jack Dempsey that tried to eat him, then spit him out. 2 minutes later, the Jack is dead! Was it because of the Pufffer??

I know this video is rather old but i would be surprised if your fish is still alive by now. The tank is really small for that size and the puffer is really stressed.

my mom works at the petstore fishouttawater in nj i have 1,200 gallon tank everyday she brings home a new fish i have 42 of those puffers and a ton of every kind they sell at normal pet stores

wow thats so cool. That was my idea though, to get a big tank and fill them with a ton of puffers. I thought is was wierd because I really have no intrest in keeping marine fish except puffer as long as they don't grow to big. I only like puffers, stingrays and jelly fish. Not really into saltwater puffers except the spikey ones.

Yes They do grow six inches. If you want your puffer to grow big and healthy you have to start putting sea salt in the water untill you can slowly get the salinity to full strength sea water.

Dude, research before you buy! I don't own puffers never have but I know that guy needs brackish water and a bigger tank. Plus puffers love to explore thier habitat and should have plenty of caves and plants. Poor puffer :(

actually, if you live in japan, you would say that tank is too large. Trust me dudes, its crowded there. I used to go to school there and shared a room with 4 other students the size of (18'x10') and this includes the kitchen and living room, beds were included too. So its really crammed.

And these puffers are salt water, slowly adding marine salt when they are about 3 months old.

There is no excuse for putting a fish in a way too small tank. Especially no intelligent species like this one.

@puffcrusader696 gah, this ass at the privately owned pet store gives the worst fish advice, he is just interested in the sale and i think he may even be the owner. He said 3 of these would live just fine in a 10 gallon, also said that they would be fine with other fish. we ended up talking to another associate who was getting us the fish and he showed us what they did with a feeder guppy.

No stupid the green spotted puffer is a brackishwater puffer. they live in the estuaries(meaning it has salinity dur!) and they go down the mangrove swamps or so i heard and down to the ocean.

thats tiny! i keep a single dwarf puffer in a 10 gal tank! you need a 30 gallon tank for that fish, also there only brackish not full marine fish.
