Forget the shave stick and brush. The local 99 Cent store offers sticks of deoderant (NOT anti-perspirant) for, you guessed it...99 Cents. Wet the beard, apply the deoderant, and it instantly gets slippery enough for a close clean shave. Unlike soap-based shave sticks, NO RINSING is needed.
I have the Merkur closed comb travel version. Its three piece, and stores the handle within itself, and neatly stores in a small black pleather pouch. It performs wonderfully, but is smaller and lighter than normal DE's. Great investment IMO.
This video is my favorite (or rather most helpful) in your series because I am a constant traveler. I work on a ship off the coast of West Africa, where I stay for 6 weeks at a time. My solution was to use a shave stick (currently Taylor of Old Bond sandalwood) with a Merkur HD and an Edwin Jagger pure badger travel brush with whatever blade and aftershave I like at the time. Ideal for nomads like myself.
I hate checking my bags, especially when I know that my Murkur Futur might not make it through (I've had stuff stolen out of my check luggage all the time, and I'm sick of it). Now, I'm thinking of overnighting my shave stuff to my destination.
I am a frequent traveler so am very familiar with TSA travel restrictions. As of this writing each liquid container must be oz or less, and ALL your liquids have to fit into ONE quart size zip lock. This doesn't include baby formula and medical supplies for which you have a prescription
Hei Mantic, why haven't you considered any razor specifically designed for travelling (Merkur Travel, Feather Portable, ecc)? And how do you store your shaving stick when it's sold wrapped with just a couple of sheets? Thanks.
egarrulo- You're right, I need to try those razors! I store foil-wrapped shave sticks in the foil if I haven't torn it too much, or a foil-lined prescription bottle kind of like the brush idea.
Then it would be nice if you try the Feather Portable, which is good quality and cheap, therefore you can afford losing it while travelling. Thanks ^_^
Where did you get the plastic safety razor? I've been wanting to try a safety razor and that seems the cheapest way to give it a try. I live on the Wast Coast of the US if that helps.

Search CT16-1064 on ebags-dotcom. They carry genuine Dopp brand bags. The CT16-1064 is a small "manicure" kit, but with the gold embossed "DOPP" really big on the spine has potential to be a neato micro dopp kit. Merkur HD? Blades? Wee Scot? Two flat paint pots with cream and balm??? For twenty bucks, I cant wait to see what I can get into it...
A very helpful upload. Thanks for sharing!

I found the plastic razor a couple years ago at one of those "everything's a dollar" kinds of stores. Haven't seen any around lately though.
