This band was so underrated and original although a lot of influences here and there they still should've been a huge band. Graveyard rodeo was another band that would've been huge. A tragic waste of talent. New orleans bands had there own sound. LA AND DC AND NEW YORK? What the fuck? nEW ORLEANS BANDS HAD SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT TO OFFER, ORIGINALITY.
I saw Red Rockers in Boston in 1981 when they were touring in support of Condition Red. They were a great live band but they certainly weren't as good as the Clash, X, Gang of Four or the other top tier punk related bands of the era. They were from New Orleans. Condition Red was a pretty good album but their second album was complete garbage and they sounded like those foppish Brit synth bands with funny haircuts. To their credit: I saw stage diving for the first time at their show.
their early stuff was more punk sounding and more revolution/political stuff but then they started writing and singing crappy 80's pop songs and now they blow just victims of the corporate record companies
Decades later... nothing has changed. The youth are bored and calling for change, the "revolution" that we sought- never came, and the need to rebel, to insight change... has been squashed by "the Man". Initially... this band (and many others) had some interesting ideas... but the "system" is SO intrenched, so "protected", that most (including me) eventually surrender. This is a cool post, a look back at a time and attitude that may be missing now.
I just really like that China song. These guys might be one hit wonders, but at least they hit the gong once in their lives. As for this silly revolution song, I'll bet even they are like, "don't remind me..."
Growing up in the 70's and 80's I was always a hard rocker-Black Sabbath,Scorpians,Judas Priest in the 70's then heavier stuff in the 80's.I was never a punk fan and had not heard much other than the Sex Pistols and the Clash but when I heard this on the radio I bought it that day.
Thanks so much for posting this,it brings back good memories.I bought it for thier heavy sound and catchy tunes.
this band really2 kick ass! reminds me of the clash..early punks like the clash, red rockers, sex pistols, black flag, the ramones, misfits, the adicts, discharge creates kick ass punk bands nowadays like the casualties, the unseen,anti-flag and more...
Check out the Normals; they where also from new orleans, but pre-dated the Red Rockers, and were a better band, IMO...there's alot of 70s footage of them up on youtube.
Wow too cool!!! Thanks a bunch for posting this.Have not seen this for 20 years. The entire album that this song was on Condition Red stands the test of time. I still play it and it never gets old or boring. Thanks fabola:)
Anybody got any Schizophrenic Circus out there? I used to listen to Just Like You. These guys are an underrated 80s band. I saw them live in 1984 at James Madison University (opened for the Go-Gos), and I nearly lost my hearing that night they were so fucking loud.
CATTY VS.NHAMPTON never lost to them knee high to high school tied once!!!! LETS GO ROUGHS!!!!!!

Regarding the Nazi crap you added to your favorites one should rather be scared of people like you.

This is damn cool. "Condition Red" is one of
the best U.S. Punk Albums. Coming from Germany
and being a bit to young I never had the
chance to see R.R. in action.
