whether you wanna call these guys melodic hc, post-hc, or metalcore, they were the best hardcore had to offer in the beginning of the century. can't believe i saw these guys play this song almost 10 years ago.
@dropdedjames great post. i saw these guys play this stuff before knowing who they even were and they blew my fucking hair back. i'll never forget it.
This is definitely Not metalcore, for those saying so. It's close, but it's more a melodic take on hardcore, or melodic hardcore. Apart from the screaming there's really nothing metal about the music. But regardless of the genre, it's a golden song and Hopesfall was quite the band, despite the lineup changes and changing styles. They were most certainly post-hardcore for their last two albums.
Man this song is real shit. I remember being in high school listening to this feeling all sad, but good at the same time. The song has been in my head for the past two weeks especially @ 3:19, and to my surprise it was here all along. On youtube! I love the digital age.
I'd like to thank the bloke who on a Breaking Benjamin video posted 'Hopesfall ftw' and led me to this band, otherwise I would not know of their existence, and my life would be incomplete.
@mtbmikex9 Dude there's still some great modern post hardcore in the underground. Rosetta, Amia Venera Landscape and Rinoa are just three bands I recommend checking out.
I saw this song (among others from the EP) and most of the songs from "Frailty" played live. During the breakdown at the end of the song I swear people were going emotionally crazy and crying because it was so "moving" whatever. That sounds completely gay, but that's how it was. It was the best show I've ever seen. People left the show in silence. It was weird. It's too bad they got rid of their good guitarist and vocalist.
@calends Fuck, sounds epic. Im a whore for rap music i but i still love the metal genre. Im an HxC gangsta not really lolol but im happy ive expanded my taste in music. Inspired me to play drums. I would love to be an MC or drummer lol
Man.. Reading all this stuff makes me wish I had awesome highschool memories to think back to. I was the only kid in my school who listened to anything like this and there is absolutely no music scene here. I'm in a band now (I commute to Van to get shows, The hardcore scene there is really lacking too though..) that's playing a very similar style. Melody driven hardcore with punk roots (I converted them from this new age hardcore that isn't hardcore, hardcore haha)
@ShrineVLOG This stuff is really inspiring for a local kid. I hope that even if I don't have those great memories, I can create them for others with my music.
oh to go back to high school and rock this shit like i used to. 1998-2003 my wonder years (no it didnt take me 5 years to get thru high school..i was including 8th grade too...figured id get ripped for that one haha)
I can't believe how widespread hopesfall's impact was on so many people.
I was the only kid in my entire school who had even heard of them and, like most people who did know of them, I had this album and The Satellite Years on repeat with my old Sony CD Walkman (jogproof!). Man this brings me back.
@ambientmf well speaking of widespread I live in New Zealand and discovered Hopesfall on the net. Amazing stuff. The Frailty of Words is another great release.
So many dorks commenting, but it's nice to see comments about music changing someone's life instead of, "DIS SHIT IS BR00TAL" or the usual argument/"this shit is gay".
Never would I have thought watching a live performance would reestablish my opinion towards a whole genre of music. Thank you Hopesfall for destroying all my fears and preconceptions. Your music inspires me to this day.

@treskefar agree with u on the feelings, I just broke up one month ago from my girlfriend, we were together for 5 years and just bought a house but still on some points we had huge different points of view and so we decided to split even we still love each other...
@beghdav Also with you there man. 6 years for me, still have lots of respect and care for each other, but we just knew it wasn't moving forward. This song definitely helped...
totally agree with most posts. this was college for me. going to see bands like early hopesfall, early everytime i die, early eighteen visions, early poison the well and several others. i used to listen to this and Taken - Overshadowing at 100 East over and over again.
@xtheendofanerax thank god for the internet, i still have the CD but i Bought it like 9 years ago so i don't feel so bad downloading it these days especially because they have broken up due to their bellow par albums good band but a bit inconsistent
one of NC's best bands. and for those who talk shit, every hopesfall cd is amazing in it's on way, you have to appriciate the music and musicianship put in to writing such amazing music
Holy shit i forgot all about this song. We used to listen to this song in the cut ALL the time in high school. Now I'm gonna be missing high school all day...god damn it
being the bassest and song wrighter for a metlecore band (vorteil) i only hope that one day we will be that good the song in whole is awsome and highly meaningfull we hope to be the next big thing in metlecore we have our stuff up on facebook tell us what you think
this E.P. was the best thing this band ever did, in my opinion. I like all of their albums as they played a huge part in my early teenage/highschool years, I just kinda had to learn to accept them as a totally different band when A-Types came out and Ryan Parrish was gone. just wasn't the same, although I love A-Types and most of Magnetic North.

@kev1364 My searching eyes have never been so intrigued to see you I guess you found a way to make ten minutes last forever With each passing moment we drift further away... Closer to our chosen paths But I can't help remembering what was... What might have been But I have been warned by those who have passed this way before and to them I am grateful and as for you i am also grateful... and I pray you find the peace you have been longing for Epic..
This is real post hardcore bands like this poison the well reflux true bands not like now that post hardcore is popular because the emos kids now you find fucking emo bands that say that are post hardcore everywhere
I hate to sound like one of those "I only like their old stuff" people... But I just can't get into A-Types/Magnetic North. This stuff is great though.
Hopesfall made me pick up a guitar seven years ago. These days I barely find time to play once a month, but this song is always the first song I put on to play along to when I do.
I think it's so awesome that this song is significant is some phase of so many people's lives, even bridging the Atlantic to Germany. Just goes to show that when great music is created it can't be denied its effect and will stand the test of time.
Easily one of my favorite songs ever. It takes me back to my highschool days and all the fun times me and my friends had. Shout out to p. walters, p.c. bean, shumate, A.G, and kruse nipples haha
