  • wash that asshole lol at the guys at 0:00

  • I'm an ex Mesaba agent from CRW. Awsome video!........Makes me cry though.

  • ok im sorry i found out the dc9s stoped service back on jan 4 2011 ok .

  • has north west ever heard of 717s its funny the airbus a320s are old now but they blen in quite well with the new air crafts.

  • fuck last time i was on a dc 9 was 1995 or 1996 air canada i think i was going to winnepeg from toronto.

  • dc9s still flying ok. that plan probably had hippes on it when it frist came out . bet they found some joints on the floor .

  • @986tornado Marijuana reference?

  • My dad used to be a captain for Northwest and Now....*sniff it is Delta sadly

  • @RoRcrashslave whats he fly for them?

  • @DrewD5400 Well before he retired he was Authorized to fly the DC-9,Boeing 747,Boeing 757, Boeing767.

He mostly flew the Boeing 747-400 over seas towards the end of his career.

  • @RoRcrashslave sounds like he enjoyed a very exciting career!

  • @DrewD5400 Yeah but the aviation in him is still within the family we own Three GA planes and thinking about a fourth.

  • @RoRcrashslave what types?

  • @DrewD5400 We have a 1938 Ryan SCW with a 165 Warner swap and a Cessna 165 "Airmaster" with a 165 warner and then we have a old project plane which is a "Funk" we have a few engines for the funk and the Ryan and the Cessna 165 but we are thinking about a Cessna 152-172 for bobbing around in.

  • @RoRcrashslave sounds like a nice little fleet you've got there!

  • loud ass engines

  • I miss Northwest Airlines. I miss the DC9. I miss the JT-8D.

  • @koopa888

I do too. Luckily I'll be on one from GSP-ATL with DL in a few days.

  • @koopa888 they still have the DC-9

  • That´s not sound, that´s music

  • @rgustavoccs Those JT-8's are music for about 5-10 minutes. But try 60 minutes with one droning over your shoulder. You can't wait to land! lol

  • i always flew outta detroit on a dc9-50...there quite loud

  • Im a plane captain for the navy c-9b same thing just with a cargo door just did a high power engine turn the other day, that JT8D roars.

  • @koopi5

nice. what's the cargo payload like on a C9?

  • @DrewD5400 to tell you the truth im not sure about the max payload because it depends on what rig we are in, and thats more the aircrews deal3. normally we only carry about two pallets of cargo but sometimes we go to a g rig and we can carry three pallets which is the most ive seen. I can tell you all about tire pressure, hydraulic quantity, fuel load, thrust, and all that good stuff.

  • @koopi5

well all the better because I fuel aircraft here in CLT, what kinda fuel load do you guys usually take?

  • Comment removed

  • @DrewD5400 Minimum ramp load is 18k lbs, 9k in both wings. If the plane is going on a mission normally we'll fuel to 28k, 9k in both wings, 6k in the center tank, and 2k in the forward and aft tanks. Maximum is 38k with 9 in both wings, 6 in the center and aft tanks, and 8 in the forward. The tanks were resized to hold more fuel so the c9b could fly over the ocean unlike the dc9

  • @koopi5

Nice! What kind of range can you get out of it with a 38k fuel load?

  • @DrewD5400 well i dont know the exact range but i know it can make it from LAX to hawaii on fumes lol

  • @koopi5

that's pretty far, even for a modified DC9! Very cool, great info!

  • @DrewD5400 An update, the C9 can carry up to 16 tons of cargo

  • @koopi5 not bad.

  • Ahh great memories, I've sat in the back few rows next to these guys before on Northwest. Their Grand Rapids to Detroit hub flight used to always use one of these old planes, gives me the chance to be on a classic airliner and appreciate modern planes with their fancy AVOD all the more!

  • @jefflies

    thanks for watching!

  • Wow, never realised there was any DC-9s still flying in USA, never flown in one yet. Awesome.

  • @Pullisto

Yeah, Delta still has some former NWA dash 50's floating around on most routes. The dash 30's and 40's have all been sent to the desert unfortunately.

  • I wasn't referring to a content (script), but rather the way it was delivered. Freaking annoying flight attendant, and it wasn't a video either -- those are pleasant. Otherwise, an excellent job by author capturing the take off.

  • @ginger0612

    thanks

  • Cool you can see the start spark reflected on the fan spinner.

  • @antimatterXXXIII

Never noticed that, you referring to 2:08?

  • Excellent video. Love the engines -- both, the look and the sound. However, the flight attendant doing the takeoff announcement is so annoying and pathetic. Again, an awesome video for true aviation fans (excluding the pathetic misplaced flight attendant),

  • @ginger0612

thanks! Yeah, unfortunately it seems like most are that way these days. I run into a few pleasant ones at work from time to time though.

  • @ginger0612 What are you rambling about? She's either a video, or reading from a script.

  • can you imagine how much air one of those engines suck in?

  • haha, cool!!

  • Spanish...... Grettings from Venezuela

  • Buen video tipo (nice video dude)

  • @oscarfereira

ah- thanks!! What language is that?

  • i want that asshole lol fucking funny

  • @jason11582623

That would've been funny, unfortunately, they were adding to the FA's announcement and said "...and WASH that asshole". Long story short, there was a man of middle-eastern decent walking around the plane and he stunk.

  • @DrewD5400 lol crazy but funny

  • @jason11582623

yeah, those guy's behind me were a little annoying, but whatever, haha. Flight was still great.

  • awesome video! I love the DC-9 and the JT8D!

  • @trepo757

    SAME!!

  • I live about 7 miles from DTW. I can tell when a DC9 is flying over the house, just by the rumble.

  • @erttuop

    that rocks!!

  • Ahhhh, the classing "woop, woop, woop" sound of the Ignitors firing :)

  • @CivSi02

    aren't they the best??!! :)

  • nice (;

    i subbed ;p

    please subb back !

  • That's bringing up memories of my last DC-9 flight from Helsinki to Frankfurt. Finnair, after turning on the Seatbelt-Sign: Noh! iItu nyt tohon! The captain ordered(?) me to sit down on the jumpseat Engine sounds? Nah! Not in the second row of a DC-9! Instead gyros humming, ventilation and later on taxi-in an open window completed my very special flight experinance in 1996 or 1997

    Thank you Terrorists!

    That won't be anymore :-((

  • yes, they've really messed things up it seems.

  • i am employed

  • which is more than 10% of Americans can say....

  • LOL!!!!! do u by any chance work for an airline?

  • I do not, however I would like to. Do you?

I am Currently unemployed and actively looking for work. Got a job offer for me??!! haha.

  • What a beautiful plane! Reminds me of the old days when those DC-9s always used to rumble KAUS (austin,tx)! I always <3 ed flying the flight between Austin and MSP but now its on a regional jet!!! Screw you CRJ!, DC-9 Rules!!!

    5 stars!

  • haha- indeed- I HATE the CRJ's... esp. the -200. The -900 is OK, the -700 isn't much better than the 2. Long live the niners! (see below comments below, looks like they'll stay a while longer!!).

    Thanks for the comment/rating.

  • Yea good thing Delta is keeping them!! Are the NWA planes all in Delta colors now?

  • nice video, I always loved the sound of the DC9 I work for Northwest and Delta wants to get rid of the DC9-30, AND 40 I will cry when they go but at least they will keep the -50's for awhile but reall nice vid of takeoff 5/5

  • thanks so much for the rating and comment. I will cry too when the 30/40's are gone. They've really had a great run, 40+ years on some of them! Carry on the NW legacy through your work!

  • LOL u wanna laugh Delta changed there mind, there are keeping all of the dc9's for awile im so happy. ENJOY THEM!!!!

  • THAT'S EXCELLENT NEWS!!!! It only makes sense, they're all paid off, and fuel is still relatively cheap, plus, WE LOVE THEM!! I will now fly DL more to get on the 9's! Never thought I'd say it, but GOOD MOVE DL!

  • LOL IM HAPPY TOO I just hope they will take care of them like Republic and Northwest did but yeah they are staying :)

  • with any luck they will. Thanks for the update! Don't suppose you are employed by DL/NW? Sad to see NW's website is gone now too.
