  • Does it still show up at 7:20?

  • What does MRVSJ stand for if I may ask? I'm assuming the SJ stands for San Jose. Also where does it originate from?

  • @DRK6644 (M) Manifest (RV) Roseville (SJ) San Jose. You were right about the SJ part. It terminates from Roseville yard I believe and stops at San Jose yard (formerly known as Newhall Yard) north of CP Julian.

  • When does MSJRV usually roll through Diridon

  • The MRVSJ stops in the San Jose Yard before it even reaches the Diridon, which is to the south of the yard. It never passes through the Diridon.

  • What about its counterpart, are there any freights through Diridon during the day

  • Nope, same thing for the MSJRV. As for freight through the Diridon, there's the northbound empty auto trains (AMLOAR usually) that run about twice a week at completely random times. You pretty much have to have a "headsup" to catch these. There's also the Permanente Local (LRB32) that runs five days a week during the day, and it will usually pass through the Diridon station if it has to serve the Permanente Branch or the industries in the Luther area.

  • Oh ok, I was wondering, cuz I was gonna railfan the throat tracks of Diridon

  • Ahh OK, the best place to go is the north end of platform 4/5. You're right in the middle of all the action.

  • No I meant right outside of the station, north of the signal bridge

  • Great stuff Nick, you see #14 and #11 today by any chance?

  • thanks alex! nope, i heard 11 though from school lol.

  • What'd you hear from it?

  • the horn lol

  • thanks turner!!
