Say Justin in the chorus on your second chord change (A minor on the 9th fret) if you replace your index finger with your middle finger and then move your index finger to the 7th fret D string(A note) you will have the correct chord so index down a tone(full step) hope you read this man
Is my finger retarded when he does the E7 chord, I need to put down my ring finger down, because I can't put my pinky down without putting my ring finger down too? :/
-Do bluesy bands likes Zeppelin, Floyd, Joplin, Doors, Hendrix, and The Who give you chills? Are you physically attracted to seeking truth in music? Well I am formally inviting you to take a listen to my channel, Using your open mind take the time to hear my tunes... And in case if you end up liking it, your subscribtion to my channel will help me in changing the world with my music. Much Love.
For that chord at 5:54, what makes it easily, well easier, playable is that the ring finger stays nailed to the g string for all those 3 chords; the open Am, the one at 5:54 and the Am shaped one at the 6th fret. Hope that makes sense.
Same goes for that difficult run at 7:39. The ring finger stays planted on the G string for those 4 chords. Figuring that out helped me big time. It went from being impossible to sounding amazing. Hope that makes sense.
Justin: This is one of my favorite songs. Your lesson was excellent and quite true to the record. Keep it up. I will be checking your website for more. If you get bored, put out a lesson on Emerson Lake and Palmer, "From the Beginning".
Hey Justin, I just thought you'd like to know you were right on the chord change in the strumming part. He does make that odd change. Just watched a video of him playing it.
damn man, you really do have the best lessons, and they're nice and lengthy so you can get everything in. and for that i thank you. appreciate it. keep 'em comin'
Slightly different variation of the 'heavy strumming part' thought id share it in case anyone finds it interesting or if justin is reading. After the standard Am part instead of moving to the 8th fret or whatever he does, I put my pinky on the thinnest string on the third fret for the one strum.
--3e
1--B
-2-G
-2-D
The next part i put my index finger on the 1st fret on the thinnest string then another finger on the 3rd fret on the 2nd string or the one above the thinnest string.
So let me get this straight... Justin provides all of these great guitar lessons FOR FREE, and yet most of you are too cheap to buy his $10 album to push him into the charts? Weak. BTW: this was the only thing he has ever asked for from us in return!
the part at about 7;20 , me and my old guitar instructor were completely at a loss to what the random slide after the e chord was.... listen to it.... its pretty random....
6:30 Am strum, Am with open G string add G onto E string, upto Dm on a bar chord. works for me but a little hard to nail the Dm in time, but can cheat with a standard Dm.
Great lesson for a great song. cheers. TAS rocks ;-)
for the chorus you can play the open a minor with 2nd finger on 2nd string, 3rd on 3rd and 4th on 4th, then when you shoot up the neck you can lift your third finger and put your first finger on the 4th string of the 7th fret, very easy way to get the chord right.
We very much appreciate your civic project in teaching us all how to play like a maestro. Excellent! As a suggestion, please post the tabs as well, or provide a hyperlink for the tabs.
For the strumming bit instead of the Am shape on the 8th and 9th frets i find it easier to do a normal Am chord with my pinky on the high e string 3rd fret (G). Great vid 5*
This is one of the few songs i can play very well (I had to practice a lot...), now everybody will be able to play it! I am depressed now, thanks... ;-)
Thanks man! best tutorial on the web

That fingering you are looking for is:
E- Open
B- 3d finger, 8th fret
G- 1st finger, 6th fret1st finger
D- 2nd finger, 7the fret
A- Open
Still a bit of a trick, swapping fingers on the strings as you slide.

I play it really good and then when I go to record it, I fail...... hard

Great lesson..but i would like to see it played all the way through at normal measure just to get the ear for the transitions.

that funky part, instead of pinky on the 5th fret of the 2nd string
just play an open high e string
same note really
