Natasha Richardson Tragedy

Touchy,touchy,touchy. I did read and watch several publications on the very unfortunate death of Mrs. Richardson. She was taken to two Canadian hospitals. The trip by ambulance to several hours (in traffic) to reach the 2nd hospital. Their should have been a medical helicopter. No one knew how serious her fall would become, but when it became obvious, she should have been able to recieve at least faster treatment. Again, I lived in canada..... it's very censored, except for porn.

@torretk First, she refused treatment. 2nd, they brought her to the first hospital which is about a half hour from the hill. 3rd, took her to Montreal, another hour NOT several from there. It was too late. Maybe they should have forced her to go the first time, as she probably would have been alright. 4th, yes, they should have had medi-vac helicopters. That's Quebec for you.  The rest of the country DOES. 5th, what was censored as all this made the news and was reported??

Oh my god, it's awful :( I thought she would get healthy and not dead. I prayed for her that she would get feeling better. And now she's dead. It's unbelievable, I am very sad. Rest in peace Natasha, you are missed.

While it is a real shame that such a talented individual has died before her time, there are some lessons here that may save lives:

1) NEVER ski without a helmet. Ever.

2) When trained personnel tell you they want to have you assessed by a medic, by all means, DO SO.

3) Let your family and friends know about your wishes for organ donation. If Ms. Richardson's organs have been donated, GREAT! She may have just saved 7 people from death! What a legacy!

Let her death not be in vain. LEARN.

They didn't even mention that the nearest hospitals didn't have neccessary equipment/specialists either. They had to DRIVE HER, NOT FLY HER for several hours to another facility! The Canadian Government keeps it's citizens (willingly) in the dark. Don't get me wrong. They're far from stupid, just very obssessivly passive-aggressive towards America/Americans!

It's called a "walk and die" brain injury. Occasionally, people can have devastating brain injuries that are not immediately apparent. Quite suddenly, patients can go from 'fine' to critical, to dead.

The confusing thing is that Montreal is the center of the universe, when it comes to neurology. WHY would anyone move a critical, brain-injured patient OUT of the best place on the planet for neurological care?? -Unless she was already gone?
