  • I remember people coming home from Vietnam, and playing Airplane discs.

  • Mickey > Grace

  • Killer tune.

  • good shit!

  • Mickey Thomas was the man!! Starship was a great band - underated, and underplaed these days.

  • Oh buddy you had done everything right ...!!! But where's the owner of the voice that's singing this song ??? Come on, I don't believe you don't have any picture of STARSHIP featuring MICKEY THOMAS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Grace, unattanaible voice, like she were still at Woodstock.....always a milestone of the acid rock!!

  • How can you dislike Jefferson Starship? must not know what real music is<3

  • The great Mickey Thomas !!! He even elevated Grace Slick to new levels.

  • "Wicked" should be one of the reaction!

  • @theunusualsuspectstv I agree with the "Wicked" but only New England people would get what it meant, LOL!

  • @mlabarre2 LOL yeah i suppose, i'm bringing it back in the UK though ;)

  • @theunusualsuspectstv Wicked comes from the UK? I thought us New Englanders started it. For us wicked means really cool or awesome or just "really"....like, it's wicked hot out today. I suppose we may have stolen it from you guys. :)

  • EFLC brought me here. :D

  • I heard this song on 106.9 the eagle on my way home from 6 hours worth of college classes. Empty roads, driving in the country, windows down, f*** yeah was the general mood of the drive.

  • sounds if some of the British Radio Stations are operated by a bunch of Wankers.

  • @Spongebob7025 Limeys that what they are but you gotta love em hell we come from them.

  • Absolutely KILLER vocals on this track, not to mention great drums & guitar. It's honestly one of my favorite guitar solos of all time because it BURNS.

  • More like it was 6 people named jane. Too bad it isnt jenny then we could post the phone number everywhere....you know: 867-5309. Man I loved the 80s. I have been finding some new stuff that is like 80s on steroids though. It out of europe and its fantastic. Bands like Nightwish, Delain, Hammerfall, and Sabaton. Its why I started a multi generational rock/metal band support effort called TOTALLY MUSIC ARTIST CHANNEL. Its unreal. YOU WILL NEVER MAKE IT THROUGH ALL THE PLAYLISTS. You will love it.

  • Jane wasn't playing with 6 people.

  • played this to death when it came out , CLASSIC.

  • I wish I was born those days, with THAT music.....

  • @Pennywise7Galletti youre not the only one, 96 here

  • Where you've been baby....

  • why do you have pictures of Airplane.

  • Jane here, and I love this song..

  • If this song doesnt sum up guitar rock and muscle cars what does...

  • tight ass limeys! wtf do you expect!

  • I can't turn it up loud enough!

  • That opening should be used in a movie trailer. 0-16 seconds - quick cuts of various intense looking people, an argument, a woman crying in an alley. :17 - someone explodes out of their seat and flips the table.

  • @menzelcassini dude, i gotta hand it to you, that was fucking genius. i do that a lot too, think up awesome trailers with sick music. nice job.

  • @menzelcassini I had this in my mind when I saw the current version of Jane Eyre!

  • While Marty Balin's vocals were perfect for Airplane & the beginnings of J.S., Micky Thomas's were expertly suited to a song like this! Great rock track!

  • and Craig Chaquico can play...tks

  • Who here LOVES the part when the piano in the backround plays?

  • I like this track, takes me back to the 70's

  • named my first daughter after this track .

  • One of the best building openings of any tune from the 70s. Awesome tune by an awesome band.

  • Atleast her name isnt Roxanne

  • Always loved this song!

I work with a Jane and sing this song to her

  • @ASR10MAN I'm sure that doesn't make her feel incredibly uncomfortable at all...

  • One of the greatest vocal performances by any group ever. The great Gracie Slick and incredible Mickey Thomas. Had the great privilage of seeing Mickey and the group without Gracie up close and personal, shook the guys hand. Super person.

  • Aynsley Dunbar's drumming is awesome. So perfect for this song. So subtle, but with tasty fills. He's one of the most underrated drummers. As proof, just look.. the submitter didn't even include him in the artist credits. Shame!

  • Gonna blast this out loud so all the neighbours can hear. Spread the musical gospel. Has to be done.

  • LOVE this song...nothing like good ol' rock'n roll!

  • AC, DC rocks

  • A sleeper of a ka song1 TY west..

  • I always loved the story about Grace Slick planning to drop a hit of acid into Nixon's drink at some White House thing she was invited to but the secret service dudes recognized her waiting to get in and told her to leave. Ya gotta love Grace.

  • @mnsnake Damn, I wish she'd succeeded in doing it.

  • Actually this song DID chart in the UK during Jan / Feb 1980. Please get your facts right it received plenty of airplay.

  • reminds me of

    AC/DC

What Do You Do for Money Honey

    chord changes

  • jefferson airplane 60's photos...

  • Heard this on Jack FM the other day, took me waaaaay back. Excellent.

  • @Joe9017

    so did I

  • My favorite song by the group

  • @rocknroll413 Mine too

  • man this is good stuff

  • I love the intro... :D

  • moleesta;]

  • evidently, three people don't rock; they suck.

  • mickey pulled out all the stops on this and made it hit perfectly, like fooled around there is just no replacement for him, this is still one of my favorite all time rock songs

  • I guess the only thing I'm gonna complain about is that there isn't a picture of Mickey Thomas anywhere in this video...and he's the lead singer on this tune. Insane vocals. Love this tune.

  • Awesome record, brings back so many great memories

  • ok, its just thats where the song sounded the best

  • I reckon it would've charted if they had the same awesomeness of that tune that they had going from 0:16 to 0:31 throughout the whole song, not that exactly, but something better than the dreary chords that they had, because you were just waiting for that keyboard to start up again during the song.

  • @AlgonquinCelebrity96

Uh, it's the same thing as the rest of the song, just with a piano obbligato.

  • @AlgonquinCelebrity96 I think it's all brilliant, the beginning bit and the rest!

  • lost and the damned :)

  • named my first born after this track .

  • is he craig chaquico?!

  • "Failed to chart in the UK"? Well that's just your problem, isn't it, then?

  • @prospectus91 Yes, the crap radio stations here didn't play it, still love it though.

  • @westlifehateclub Sorry, meant to include a "smiley face" in my post above to indicate that I was just taking the piss out of our British friends. :)

  • @westlifehateclub That's actually cobblers. Radio One (as it was called at the time) played this song several times a day. I remember the period well, because "All I Ever Wanted" by Santana and "Armed and Ready" by The Michael Schenker Group were played loads too. And it did chart in the UK charts, but didn't get into the top 10.

  • Comment removed

  • @westlifehateclub "The" radio station? You guys only had one?

  • @westlifehateclub Hmmm, it'd be good to read the plural. Wouldn't? Oops. Hah.

  • @westlifehateclub Actually Radio 1 played it a lot, and it reached number 21 in the UK charts.

  • @lewisner ...i,m with you on this one , it must have charted.....(this was THE song that made me want to play Guitar)....i heard it a whole bunch of times on the Radio.....

  • @westlifehateclub Tommy Vance said of this on the Friday Rock Show; 'who says you can't be female, 40 and in a rock band', believing it was Grace Slick singing when it was Mickey Thomas!

  • @prospectus91 It did chart in the UK, in January 1980, going on to reach number 21 and stay in the top 40 for 8 weeks.

  • @rjjcms1

I didn't make any claim that it didn't chart in the UK. Read the posts again.

  • @prospectus91

    Incoorect.

This song got to number 21 on the UK chart in 1980, it was released under the band name "Starship"

  • @RJW14863 "Incoorect"? You lads have me in stitches! Enjoyable to read your comments while listening to this fab song.

  • @RJW14863 It was released under the band name Jefferson Starship in the UK, I've still got the picture sleeve 7" vinyl single and that's what it says on the cover..

  • @prospectus91 IT made number 1 in the UK charts in 1980 !

  • @prospectus91 well if it failed to chart, then that would ofcourse be related to the people of britain, not the uploader of this video.

  • @prospectus91 HA HA HA! AND WHAT A PROBLEM THAT IS! HA HA HA

  • Jefferson Airplane or Jefferson Starship.....Its ALL good to me :)

  • yeah...with a lil reggae in the middle...Jane, Jane, Jane...

  • buen video espero que venga al peru

  • Amazing voice, amazing guitars and keyboards. ROKZ all around!

  • oh man how i could i have missed a gem like this. i kinda prefer the 60s feel of the jefferson airplane, but this was a real awesome song aswell! :D

  • @morly11 I update this channel for a lad that died last year, I didn't make the video so if you don't like it then piss off somewhere else.

  • @westlifehateclub that dude failed by waking up ! Thanks for posting, I enjoyed.(About seven or eight times in a row!)

  • @westlifehateclub Where can I piss at? :9

  • @morly11 dude we're not a perfect like you think you are gee just listen to the song and enjoy it and get over it WTF! have respect for the fallen one for he had great taste in music!

  • @morly11 the band was called jefferson airplane before it was called jefferson starship

  • @morly11 How much of a dick are you? Who gives a fuck? Just enjoy the music and put your pedantic cock away. Tool.

  • @rockandroll63 more dick then your mom can handle

  • @morly11 That's funny, because she said you lasted 3 seconds with your two incher.

  • @rockandroll63 no that's was you dad said that you lasted when you butt fucked him

  • @morly11 Yes, but only because he had to rush off and rod your grandma up the arse.

  • @morly11 PIECE OF SHIT SOMEBODY DIED COME ON MAN MOTHERFUCKER.

Lol naw I'm not that mad I just think it's funny when people rub it in.

  • This song rocks, i play it in my band.

I play the keyboard and do second voice :)

  • @RickvanOsta gij ok al hier? :P grtz

  • This is 1 of my favorites by Jefferson besides White Rabbit and Dont you want somebody to love!

  • Did Aldo Nova's "Fantasy" sample this riff?

  • @ChildOfThe1980s That's exactly what I was thinking, too :-D

  • That piano and guitar riff is untouchable.

  • Simply Classic Rock…

  • totally exquisite aor

  • It's a tipical classic rock.

  • I use to DJ for my college because I was a student activity planner and I'd play this loud 'n proud. Then one night I guess I was a little too toasted and I had the system juiced to the max, I threw this on and fried a pair of 240 watt Cerwin Vegas listening to J.S. crank it out.

  • that guitar solo makes we wanna go rip some coke!! haha

  • @Rfor1992

Yeah , Kinda like the solo to Snortin' whiskey by Pat Thrall. Very coooooooool!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the singer is the best in my eyes

  • @ishmael280 you mean: ears.

  • @SuperTrollNoU you're right thank you for correcting me

  • The first 30 seconds of this song is one of the best openings in the history of rock music. So alive!

  • Ouvi pela 1ª vez em 1980. Tinha 16 anos, fiquei e estou chapado até agora.

É de Rock como este que eu gosto

  • Best song ever!!! : ) Thank you for posting.

  • No me referia a Jane. Quise responder a quien dijo que "We built this city" era horrible porque estoy 100% de acuerdo. Jane sí me gusta

  • personally, i like the keyboard.

  • @roseasgins not me, i LOVE IT

  • Who plays lead guitar on this song? Very tasty.

  • @BOLTS19 craig chaquico he played with them from the 70's till the 90's, now he's solo and smooth jazz

  • @BOLTS19 Craig Chaquico. i seen him last nite n Houston, Tx and he played this song and said he helped write it.

  • @BOLTS19 Craig Chaquiço plays the lead

  • Love this song!!!! Jane Badler forever lol

  • Bullshit

  • "We Built This city" stinks.

  • No te gusta Jane?? La best song of Jefferson Starship.

    I love it

  • @abut Smells a hell of a lot better than that Sarah shit they puked up.

  • Ok, please explain. Why am I looking at a picture of Jefferson Airplane? Did they evolve later on into the Starship? Hey don't blame me, I was born '76. Mom was on heroine duh!

  • it's a pity:( ....forgive u Mum, please... otherwise your child'll never forgive you

  • Hey skylark - '76? dude. you aughta be in the know!

Jefferson Airplane evolved into Jefferson Starship and then Starship and then back to Jefferson Airplane... it's a great story... basically everyone at one time left the band, sued the band, melted down, threw a hissy fit, or tried to start a solo career. Paul Kantner is arguably the sane one, as the history reads like a sad tale of him trying to form and reform the band. They're touring now(ish), trying to get money off Woodstock glory. sad.

  • @garboil I know I should be, but I let a few slip past me some how. LoL. Anyway, thanks for the insight, it does sound like a great, but sad story. Sounds like they have some strong regrets.

  • ..I wouldn't want to haveta surender MY property to mthrfkrs who DO not care about you n me!'Freedom at Point Zero SAE!""

  • Freedom at point zero is one of the most underated albums ever. Just listen to it in the car and you,ll know what i mean. Crank the volume up and drive,

  • boy can mickey can sing!!! a lot of people think this is grace singing, i'm like no, what the fuck are you on?! mickey & grace sound nothing alike! one of my favorite jefferson starship songs next to caroline & lydia...♥ peace out.

  • starting at :16 it kinda sounds like cobra starships good girls go bad :]

    great song :D

  • named my first daughter after this song.

  • Fuck yeah found it!! I heard this on GTA and I couldn't catch the lyrics but the tune hooked on me instantly.. I went through all 37 songs on LRR for this song!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!hehe

  • This here is the shit.

  • LIsten here mr. kickass, mr. rubber burner...... lol love this song.

God the fucking 70's had the best damn music.

  • It's a toss-up between then and the 60s, but it's definately gone downhill since about mid-80s

  • love that fuckin solo

  • This is my favorite Jefferson Starship/Airplane song !!!

  • me and my mom love this song.i wish i could sing like that. this song ****ing rocks!!!!!i sent it to ppl and they didnt like it.screw them.

  • GREAT SONG!!

  • Thanks for uploading this song, Its ossom.

  • The guitar lead intro is one of the most distinct and memorable in rock! Then Grace Slick singing out her heart...wow!

Too bad they didn't make more like this one.

  • What Carpenjo said! More stars needed.

  • Cool song...

  • change your name that is just rediculous
