Very interesting video. I frequently visit the Atlanta area(due to the fact my dad's side of the family is from there), and barely any of the older traffic lights remain like this. Always have loved your various drives through different parts of the Atlanta area and its suburbs, especially parts of it I've wanted to see, but never have.
Thanks for the compliments. Depending on where you go in the Metro, you can still see the older traffic signals. Glad that I could give you a view of places that you wanted to see in Atlanta and the 'burbs, but never had the chance to see. ;-)
@Bryant5493 Erm, I should've specified when I said so few older traffic lights remain, that I was talking about where I live in the Chicago area. Within the city of Chicago, I think virtually all the old ones have been replaced, the last of the old traffic lights were replaced like 10 years ago. I think Evanston, IL(just north of Chicago) may have a few old traffic lights like this that remain, and since I go up there from time to time.
Nice new thing to film, Bryant - old traffic signals. I didn't even realize there were more than two streets that intersected there until you filmed this. And like you said, having only one light per side makes it even worse. Just curious, where was this, in Clayton or Fulton County?
We have three in Canton, MS. There is one one Academy street in Canton it takes for ever to change. I've seen people come to a stop and with no cross traffic they would go through it. Then there is two on the town square in Canton.
They keep the stoplights like that because of the houses so the stoplights isnt that important

Looked at the square in Canton on Google maps -- it almost looks like the McDonough Square, in McDonough (GA).

Crazy! There's one worse than that on Scott Blvd at North Decatur (and a another street that escapes me) a 6 way with much more traffic.

@Freewayjim
Yeah, that Scott Boulevard/North Decatur Road/Medlock Road intersection is crazy. At least there's more than one signal head per direction. :-)
Bryant5493 1 year ago
That area should be renamed to "accidents-r-us" - looks like even if someone is obeying the signs they could still get hurt - nice post Bryant.

Yeah, that'd be an apt name for it. :-D

Cool intersection. I like driving through it, even with the "danger" element to it.
Yeah, Kesha's all over the place, man.
