Technically neither. He's definitely not playing a guitar but he is singing... but not 'with' Ben... just 'at the same time'. :-) Ben's the only one on 'stage', Frank's just stiting right at the front of the audience (singing).
Yep, the shadow in the hat is Frank Turner. He was at the back of the room and requested this as the last song, then moved to the front to sing along. I was recording this on a proper video camera but Frank blocked it so I had to switch to a handheld digital camera with video setting, hence the lousy quality.
Good luck, and thanks for your comment. It's my favourite track of his (well, of the covers he does). I don't know how he manages to make the guitar sound so sad, but it works.
And that's where you're wrong. See above. Ben played it at a gig when he was on the same lineup as Frank. A few months later Frank requested Ben to play it again (that's this video above) and THEN Frank covered it. Not that it matters. Frank and Ben are friends. Frank's given credit to Ben. The song belongs to neither of them and it's not that important... but Ben played the cover before Frank did.
To clarify... Ben first covered this song on 3rd April 2006 at The Bell in Devizes, again on 29th June 2006 in Reading, again on 7th July 2006 in Devizes, again on 18th August 2006 in Reading, 23rd September 2006 in Aldershot and then Frank (who had been on the same bill as Ben in Devizes) requested he play it at The Lamb in Devizes on 28th October (above). First sign of Frank playing it is March 2007. Not that it matters... ;-)
Yes, I've seen the video. I was actually standing next to the guy filming in. Ben was standing in front of Frank at the time. That was one of the last gigs at the old Spitz and was many months after Frank had seen Ben cover it. (continued...)
I know Ben very well, I know Frank from meeting him at many of Ben's gigs and from seeing him play about 20 gigs blah blah blah (saw him again two nights ago, as it happens) so I know the order, the story, the facts. Ben Gibbard first. Ben Marwood second. Frank Turner third.... and probably many more in between and after but let's not go there. Let it go. ;-)
To clarify... The original is by The Postal Service. Ben Marwood covered it. Frank Turner saw Ben covering it a couple of times and then he covered it afterwards, and, as you rightly say, he explains this in the Frank Turner video of this song from Spitz (also on youtube). :D
that was so epic at the end when the guy sitting by him raises his fists! Great cover btw

Good cover. Best version I have seen yet is chocolatelover13. Allegra Fletcher. Check it out.
