Ah, that refreshing feeling when a company doesn't make a half assed snare drum. Come on, a 7-ply, 10 lug, 14 X 5.5 maple snare drum? Fucking beautiful. Well done Mapex.
@XxStrongDrums1996xX um...hate to break it to ya but thats a black panther hes using. i have this kit with a panther and the panther is 10 lug 7 ply. the kit snare it 8 lug and not so good but great for a side snare :)
@CallumE245 I wasn't aware that this was a black panther, but the kit snare for the Meridian Maple is a 10 lug. At least that's what Mapex says on their website. The Meridian Birch is an 8 lug.
@XxStrongDrums1996xX it is a 10 lug, im looking at the wrong video lmao. i thought this was birch :P but the black panthers have seperate 20 seperate tension lugs. the maple snare had 10 bar lugs :P
@CallumE245 How does the Black Panther fare? How well does it resonate, and how much crack does it give for rimshots? Also, what model black panther is this?
@XxStrongDrums1996xX well if you check out any of my newer videos its tuned nicely. mines an older model. it has more rounded tension lugs and die-cast hoops. the new ones have normal hoops but theyre fantastci snares!! this is probably a new one :L
@HardRocK96G1 The other day I gigged at a festival with my Mapex M, and the band that opened for us used a Tama Hyperdrive. According to the sound guys, mine was alot easier to mic up and sounded the best. I personally haven't been all too impressed with the hyperdrive, I've played a few of the kits and they really didn't perform as well as I'd hoped. If you're going to go Tama though, please look at the Silverstar first... They sound alot better than Hyperdrives in my opinion...
@HardRocK96G1. Try Rockemmusic.co.uk, theyre based in Rotherham, England. They don't do a 6 pce maple kit fro what i can see. The configuration I looked at was the LA Fusion set with a 20x22, 10x7,12x8, 16x6,14x5.5 at £612.00. There is a Meridian Birch set in 6 pce confg. As above but with additional 14x14 floor at £678.00. Both with undrilled BD but there is a mixture of kits with undrilled and drilled and different tom sizes etc.
@HardRocK96g1. Hyperdrive is a birch kit, are you looking at the merdian birch or maple? Personally id go for the Mapex. In England where im from a 6 piece mapex would cost £600-£700 depending on store (20x22, 10x7, 12x8, 14x14, 16x16, 14x5). The Hyperdrive with similar configuration would cost £800-850 both with hardware. Personally I like the look of the Mapex better as I dont like the lugs on the Tama. The Tama snare may just edge the Mapex but all in all the mapex does it for me.But try 1st!
This guy is cool, but I'm a little over this style of playing/jamming. He'll keep a groove for maybe one to three bars, then go off into some wild solo-ish fill that often has no relation to the quarter note pulse he had set up. I would have enjoyed a lot more timekeeping on this.
@lank880 because the low end bass frequencies have a longer wave and exert more power causing vibrations, this is also because bass frequencies can travel in any direction so it wont need to be directly infront of the snare to do it. Practical demo... but your snare by a sub

thats the most basic footwork there is. hes just using the toe and sliding techniques. how is that a level of its own if a bunch of drummers already use it? rashids got some major chops and groove! mad respect!
@heavymetal6893 true, but I've seen a few videos of these drums that were just recorded off a room mic, and they still sound absolutely amazing pre-EQ as well! I'm hoping to sell my set now in order to purchase this one haha.
nice video. i have meridian maple vanilla cream pearl. since a years ago i cant find a great video about meridian maple. i need the video that focusing on the sound. and you give me a great vids. thanks mapex drums USA. by the way, if you have a video of mapex meridian maple artist with the coated drumhead, please tell me.
