Dismounted Cavalry is not allowed to attend the 150th Perryville reenactment in 2012. So if you are Cav and planning on going and do not have a horse, you can either not go or go as infantry. Personally, I think this is a stupid idea since a large part of the battle was fought dismounted. The planners will piss a lot of reenacting groups off by this. Especially since they allowed dismounted cav in the past.
Very nicely done - Perryville is probably the largest, hardest fought battle that is still essentially untouched by modern development. US Armor center used to conduct "Staff Rides" there for their NCO and officer schools.
I am so glad to hear the park service is working to save that place. It really is a hidden gem , whether for the battlefield or for the beautiful old homes. I hope more attention is given to other sites like Perryville by our park service,and they can be saved.

I just learned today that my great great Grandfather fought in this battle.
41st Mississippi Infantry Company G under Brig Gen John C Brown and Gen Anderson! I'd like to see this battlefield.

Perrysville should learn from Sacromento Ky on how to treat reenactors.Thay do a real very good job there and reenactor love them for it.
