  • Beautiful song, but sadly those are the worst translation I've ever seen. Doesn't convey the meanings of the lyrics at all. :/

  • Thank you so much for uploading the song. I really love this song so much even no Chinese understanding of me. The song make me feeling the cycle of raising and falling having no end, if we do not claim down enough.

  • Google translator, terrible, hahaha...

  • Oh anyone know where to find lyrics with latin pronounciation aids as I cannot read chinese

  • I LOVE IT

  • im sure not a single person in Yi Zhou will actually like the Shu, this start when Liubei enter XiQuan, that only means the people have to pay more tax due to increase of soldier and govenment. Their hate to the Shu increase most rapidly when ZhuGeLIang decided to fight the Wei, as another way of defence, since he has realize there is major internal problem happening in Shu will still be destroy by Wei and internal chaos after his death

  • 让我想起了一部电影的片尾曲,也是到最后音乐响起时有怆然的历史感,《刺秦》的"Privite Paradise"。

  • The thing is the Chinese version of Three Kindoms original writer is a guy who is loyalty to the royal family of Han. Shu is the inherit of Han in today's Sichuan province after most of the land been taken by Cao Cao. So in Chinese version, Liu Bei is a big hero in a very positive way. But In a Japanese translated version of Three Kindoms, Cao Cao becomes more positive in that version.

  • @tomlovegod

I haven't read the Japanese version, but I agree with you. My experience with the Chinese version is that Cao Cao is unduly vilified. Except for a few minor differences, Cao Cao and Zhuge Liang are very similar. They both had the will to do what they felt needed to be done.

  • @XiaoPangDudu well not really zhugeliang assumed an almost impossible task in order to make a name for himself will Cao Cao is about power and wealth (though he is frugal)

  • @tomlovegod well the Three Kingdom novel is wrote 1000 years after the actual events. The author didn't have "loyalty" to anyone specific but since it's a novel/part fiction, then there had to be an antagonist. Cao Cao as the Emperor kidnapper had to be the bad guy otherwise Yuan and Ming dynasties would ban the book as rebellious which could get the author killed. Most historians believe author secrety admired cao cao very much and made him the most ambiguous character in all history of China.

  • @TelpPov didn't favor anyone specific?? have you noticed how Liu Bei is really way to humble and good and how zhuge liang is like god like?

  • @Staticdefense I was arguing that the author actually secretly favored Cao Cao, but sure, as he got older, Zhuge Liang replaced him as main character. Liu Bei at best, served as a vessel for Zhuge Liang to fully utilize his talents. Without Cao Cao's ambiguous acts every once a while, this novel would never be considered legendary. Also humbe for Liu Bei is too nice of a word for him. Most the time a guy that is over the top humble also means he doesn't know anything so hes always humble.

  • Zhuge Liang wrote this song, what a true genius

  • @cheatdath wait are you serious do you have a source on this?

  • lot of zhuge liang videos in there

  • great story

  • 擔當生前事 何計身後評 長江有意化作淚 長江有情起歌聲

  • 興亡誰人定 盛衰皆無憑 一夜風雲散 變幻了時空

  • The answer is well basically none. Wei you could say was the one that probably would have won due to superior numbers etc. Shu was crippled after Yi Ling and the failed Northern Campaigns by Jiang Wei and Zhuge Liang. Wu fell to the madness of its tyrannical Emperor Sun Hao. In the end it was the Jin Dynasty which won. Jin was formed when The Sima clan (Sima Yi,Shi,Zhao and Yan booted out the Cao rule, pretty much ending Wei from the inside. Wei beat Shu, Wei to Jin, Jin beat Wu.

  • Shu Should have win If Zhuge liang survived longer and liu bei's son was older and not so corrupted

  • @firetornadeo Liu bei's son wasn't corrupted, he was just an idiot. But you're right, Shu might have won if Zhu had stayed alive longer.

  • @argosa Also, if Liu Bei's son listen to Zhuge Liang's star pupil the Shu general at the end and keep on attackign instead of listen to that god dam uniq. Shit man, the war was over rite there and restored the Han's Dynasty for maybe another couples hundred years and Liu Bei's grandson is a good man and a good ruler in my opinion!

  • @Refractivepower Really? REALLY!? You expect a ruler to fund campaigns north that has failed 5 TIMES by Kongming and 9 times by Jiang Wei!? Both Kongming's and Jiang Wei's campaigns failed and were fruitless. Shu gained nothing from the campaigns, and only loss.

  • @argosa shoulda thought twice before dropping his son there

  • I'm so proud to be a Chinese and my love and respect to my motherland and its glorious history and deep culture grows as I become older and older.

Although I highly doubt whether a westerner could understand the deep meaning of this very classic through your translation, nice try!

  • @byx86 while subtle cultural nuances may not be understood, the greater themes of politics, military strategy, honor, loyalty, etc. exist everywhere. If such themes are limited by cultural boundaries, hollywood would not have the global popularity/influence it currently enjoys. fyi, i am american of chinese ancestry.

  • what film?

  • Strength is not only judged by a few strong generals

but also by your political power.

Shu had a very defensible location, but could not mount consistent offenses deep into Wei territory.

  • To be blunt and quite frankly, I cannot see how people believe to admire a man who compared himself with Gods and made sure he killed himself, leaving shu very much vulnerable behind. Sima Yi has gotten too few credits for his feats and succes repelling Zhuge Liang, and laying foundation for a Dynasty with his sons and grandchild. Why is that not honoured as an impressive feat?

  • @oOjeffoOo Shu was vulnerable due to a crap ruler. As long as the successors Zhuge Liang chose lived, Shu was secure. Successive dynasties revered Zhuge Liang because he was loyal and steadfast - what dynasty is going to shoot itself in the foot and honour the Sima's for usurping and being disloyal?

  • @theuglykwan Liu Shan was actually not a terrible ruler. Admitted that he was no Liu Bei. It's just that after all the huge names disappeared, Shu was pretty much done for and only struggled. Jiang Wei is no Zhuge Liang, not even Jiang Wan and Fei Yi couldn't manage. And you speak of disloyalty, what about Jiang Wei, who was first in the ranks of Wei? Xiahou Ba and Zhong Hui, the exact same thing. All is fair in war, the ambitious ones rise to rule.

  • @oOjeffoOo Liu Shan was a terrible ruler. No decent ruler allows a Jiang Wei to exhaust the state via military campaigns and Chen Shi & Huang Hao to ruin the state internally. Also, using witchcraft to repel an invasion is worthy of a prize in stupidity.

Whilst Shu's prospects of conquering Wei were slim, maintaining her independence was not hard. There was plenty of able ministers left giving him good advice but he didn't listen.

  • @theuglykwan I think beside Liu Shan fault, but his family had been ruling over 400 years. Perhaps it's time for a new family to rule, remember how the Han came into power?

  • @theuglykwan I think beside Liu Shan fault, but his family had been ruling over 400 years. Perhaps it's time for a new family to rule, remember how the Han came into power Liu Ban got all of the support from his minister and the people supported him. Liu Shan he has a good general which is the student of Zhuge Liang. Come on man it's not just him, but it's the weakness he has that make him weak!

  • there is a new san guo series coming up , it does look great but i think that this 1995 version even tho the fighting sequence is so bad, there is a certain feeling that is shown through this poem that is hard to re make.

  • It is really perfect song to me.

  • bu de liao bu de liao

  • pity that Shu cannot win, their ancestors all super strong, guan yu, zhang fei, ma chao, zhao yun, yan yan, huang zhong, zhuge, jiang wei end up all died...Fate do not end WEI...

  • sima clan is winner?haha.after 51 year.their royal family kill each other, then 5 minority nation(huns, jie,di,qiang, xianpi) destory them and kill 80% of their clan. after 100 year, last sima's clan all killed by liuyu who sucess jin.

  • Sima Zhao (not Sima Qiao ^^). though Shu failed to unify the land, their vision was great to be admired. I'm Ma Chao the Splendid!

  • good song 好词!中国风 中国精华

  • thje thing im concerend is whichever kingdom was last standing who overthrew them?

  • When Wei and Shu were under the banner of the Sima Clan, Wu was overthrown by them. China was unified under the Jin Dynasty.

And yeah, Shu should have unified China. Shu Han ftw!

  • You really don't want Shu to unified china man because of Liu Shan. China will fall back into chaos again if Liu Shan rule the country. All he like to do is have fun all the time in the palace and care less about politic or ruling the country. This is one of a major factor why Shu fell first before Wei and Wu.

  • @commanders007 That is kinda true but the Wei emperor was already under the control of the Simas. And Sima Zhao's son was worse than Liu Shan as Liu Shan when he did exert himself was not as bad as Sima Zhao's retard son. Also Sima Zhao's son also had a meddling Empress who did not help things but Jin still lasted over 150 years.

  • Shu rules, the only kingdom who fought for the people

  • @ElFlea0

I think they all cared for the people. Cao Cao and the Wu rulers just showed their kindness in a different way.

  • @ElFlea0 they did.. they fought for the identity of the chinese people during that time in history.. the Han was their identity.. to preserve what is about to be lost to the flow of history

  • Shu wanted to preserve the Han... A dynasty so corrupted by powerful individuals, that the people formed mass rebellions and riots known as the Yellow Scarves.

Wei was the only kingdom that was really worth a damn, Cao Cao did a lot more to help the people through agricultural programs which were revolutionary for his time, and talent search programs that brought rank to 'gifted' peasants.

He was also anti-imperialism, which was revolutionary for the time.

Not like Liu Bei at all.

  • Need I bring up Liu Bei refusing Pang Tong's service on the grounds of his 'ugliness'?

And remember, the book is heavily Shu-biased.

Liu Bei was the status quo of ancient China.

  • @Spardeous Nine ranks system was actually Cao Pi and Chen Qun's idea for the ranks for peasants, but i do agree.

  • I really hate sima clan!! i love shu kingdom:)

  • Comment removed

  • Who Won? Shu? Wu? Or Wei? Its So Confusing Cause In The End It Sounds Like They Died For Nothing :(

  • Liu Bei's empire is the first to fall (too bad... I wanted them to win...), then Sun Quan's Empire is next, Cao Cao won the war, though he did not live to see it, his son, Cao Pi, was overthrown by the tactician who defeated the other armies, Sima Yi, so you can kinda say that Sima Yi won...

  • jin won

  • Wei didn;t win.. it had already been swallowed up by the Jin empire when the SIma family took over. Wu was the kingdom that lasted longer until Jin conquered it

  • Yes, I reread the book, I forgot that when Sima Yi's son took over, they named it Jin

  • naa, no one really won at the end. the main generals were all dead. and then the decendants of sima took over

  • wu lasted longer then wei

  • @XxxTimex The Dynasty of Wei was fallen to the Sima Family. The troops were all Wei's former troops.

  • shu fell 1st...then wei were taken over by the sima family....then sima qiao (i think thats how you spell hes name) surrounded jing yie ( the capital of wu), then the wu king ( sun hao (i think thats his name is english)) surrended to sima qiao in 280AD...then the period of the 3 kingdoms ended...and jin ruled china for another 500 years

  • shu fell when wei was nothing but a puppet state of teh sima clan. Then sima yi's grandson sima Yan overthrow teh wei emperor and invaded wu. his empire teh Jin Dynasty unified China and ruled till 420ad, beacuse sima yan allow his mentall challenged son to succed him, Jin fell into chaos shortly after

  • bull crap

  • no it's true...i'm serious

  • @nenji4k

You are not wrong, the Manchurian adopted the Mandarin as their official court language.

    @daracon

You are wrong. The Majority of Chinese are Han Chinese. I've also never heard of anyone speak "Beijing Language". Beijing's citizens speak with a strong accent (rolling of the tongue on words). Cantonese is a common dialect in the Southern Provinces. There are many common dialects in China, and Cantonese is just one of them. Mandarin has always been the common language that unites China.

  • I love how an ending of a Chinese drama can some how be related to Swedish not being barbarian. I love you all, except the assholes.

  • All hail Zhuge Liang. The Sleeping Dragon. The greatest mind on earth.

Farewell, fallen heroes of wu and shu.

  • 对酒当歌

  • Thank you, Hisui, I love this song, and dont know the title, accidently found it !

    Thanks!

  • 我只怕一用日文,你便不知道我在說甚麼了啊。

  • 是好的! 我不知道日文。

  • 我懂四國語言,用哪種語言說均可,不必拘泥於中文啊。

  • 有沒有人有張郃的影片???

  • This song is most beautiful

  • this song almost gives you tears

  • amazing song

  • That's Chinese from China. Chinese Musical and Song that can't find at other world. THAT'S is CHINA that hard to be beaten. Persia,Egypt,Rome,Greek,Babylon,Aztec even INDIA all collapse and split. But not CHINA. Chinese musical is one of special that rest of the world cannot find it. totally western can't get it for sure. Western have to accept they still are BARBARIAN.For sure can't win our Chinese.

  • actually china was ruled by other ppl too, like yuan dynasty by mongolians, qing dynasty by manchurians too.

  • So what, I am manchu, and I am proud to be a manchu Chinese.

  • I could be wrong here, but I don't think Manchus invented mandarin, they have their own Manchurian language. Maybe they modified it, at most, since mandarin's been around for a long time before. But when the Manchus took over in the Qing dynasty they cared so much for the people as to actually take the effort to learn the language spoken by majority of northern Han chinese (mandarin) and made it the official court language. Now that commands admiration

  • tell me wats the difference between beijing language and mandarin. 99% chinese think they are same and equal. manchus didnt invent beijing language, they adapted to beijing language when they took over beijing as capital after established qing dynasty.BUT they can't speak the same beijing language accent as locals so they got their own kind of accent just like whites trying to speak chinese.

  • 2. they made their mandarin accent as official language and made it so popular that now everyone speaks it . do u know cantonese lost to mandarin by only 2 votes in language selection votings for new official language after qing dynasty overthrown by chinese nationalist party. manchus made mandarin so popular that everyones lazy to learn new accents. cantonese is the real chinese language, its history can track back to qin dynasty, the 1st dynasty of china. its why its popular in south china.

  • where southern chinese being more anti to manchurians' rulings during qing dynasty since govt control is loose in south so they choose not to speak mandarin and speak their real china language - cantonese.

  • Fuck Cantonese, most of the British dogs such as Hong Konese are proud of speaking that shit. Manchu should pick up Manchu and Mandarin.

  • this makes my day. A typical stupid ill-educated asshole.

  • I'm practically living on the other side of the globe from you and you should come visit. we're not barbarians. And you know, Chine is the country in the world with the most executions, while my country on the other hand has never had execution as a punishment since the viking days 1000 years ago. So who's the barbarians again?

  • hey that's not fair...you can't measure a country's civilization by how many people are being excuted.

  • omg, use your head. I'm of course talking in percentages here.

  • it doesn't matter, percentage or not, you still can't measure a country's civilzation by % number of excutions.

  • omg you actually use the number of executions or percentage of people being executed to see whether a country is civilised.Well, then you might as well say that greeks and romans(all the civitates i admire) are barbarians. Come on man, you mean viking preserve their notion of civilization by protecting vile evil beings (murders ,rapers)who wears a human mask? I mean how ridiculous can that be? and what the hell brings u here?this is a tribute to our han fathers who once fought among each other.

  • I have absolutely nothing against swedish people and u people are not barbarians. but i think u dont have any right to brand the sons of han barbarians cuz it sounds bullshit. So peace. All men are brothers.

  • Comment removed

  • how beautiful

  • Even though I am not han Chinese people, As a manchu minority Chinese. I love the Chinese history and I Love China.

  • 天那~~~这翻译翻的.雷~

  • 哈哈......是吗?

  • He Was hardbody. Loved his Genuis and Elegance and Leadership.

  • 孔明先生(Zhuge Liang's Chinese name/Kong Ming)

He would won if he looks at the clouds it was somthing like almost fall when he was having a match with Sima Yi, ofcourse you guys know when it's almost Fall it will rain!

  • 担当身前事!何记身后评!

    Commitment before his death matter

    Ignore the comments after death

  • this movie's ending song is still 1 of my favourite

last year when i went to zhugeliang's tomb in chengdu, at the time i was hearing this song and i got some weird feeling.. it's like a very deep sadness..

though, his tomb was better then liubei's, people praised him more than the emperor himself

  • I think he desires it. I admire him a lot, so are millions of people in the world. Without him, Liu Bei would be defeated long before, there wouldn't be battle of Red Cliffs and there wouldn't be Three Kingdoms period. I think it could only be Zhuge Liang who can confronted SiMa Yi, and vice versa. And if there is no SiMa Yi, Zhuge Liang could conquest successfully at the end. History could be changed.

  • The translation of the lyrics needs major improvement, it needs to be edited for grammar and flow.

  • thank you so much for posting this. i had looked far and wide for this before, even on youtube, but it seems just recently a number of three kingoms clips have sprung up. although this series is pretty good, it's also very cheesy and poorly made in some parts, owing to budget restraints. i hope someone will eventually take the time and energy to give this story its real due and bring attention to it into western cinema

  • The 6 great chinese classic novels:

Romance of the Three Kingdoms (San Guo Yanyi)

Water Margin Tale (Shui Hu Zhuan Chuan)

Journey to the East (Xi You Ji)

Dream of Red Mansions (Hong Lou Meng)

Creation of the Gods (Feng Shen Yanyi)

The Golden Lotus (Jin Ping Mei)

All Chinese people call these the masterpiece novels of China and Taiwan

  • Correction: Journey to the WEST

  • I like the Monkey King story (Xi You Ji), and the story about Ziang Ziya, Daji, and Nazha (Feng Shen Yanyi). Jin Ping Mei is excellent too: it is a pornographic novel that is still controversial today with the Beijing government.

  • i agree with you, except for jin ping mei, i think that novel was completely idiotic, its subject is banal, and its writing relies too much on superstition. It can never compare to such rightful historical dramatizations like Three Kingdoms, because three kingdoms talk about real things and real people, and made it damn interesting at that

  • I'm reading a little bit on the Water Margin Tale...very interesting so far with the story of this and that character.

I read a little bit on the summary of Red Mansions, and I'm a little so-so with wanting to view that piece.

  • I Love the story, the novel, and the movie! It's a Great History! Long Live Romance of three Kingdoms!

  • @KPGLGFK i'm really confused who won the war?

  • Sima Yi and Zhuge liang were one of the greatist strategists but Zhuge Liang beats Sima Yi and yea if sima yi wasnt there ZHuge liang would have a realy big chance

  • sima yi beat zhuge liang...Jin dynasty...

  • Sima yi cannot beat zhuge liang, he is inferior to zhuge liang. However,he is talented enough to use his force superiority to maintain a balanced situation until zhuge liang died. Actually the Shu force was 1/5 of Wei force.

  • zhuge liang did beat sima yi in a numerous accasions but still sima yi was the smartist person ever..he won it all

  • During the battle of shangfang valley, zhuge tried to burn sima yi but fail as it rain during the battle. the is heaven's will to have the Jin Dynasty in the end

  • Sima yi cannot beat zhuge liang, he is inferior to zhuge liang. However,he is talented enough to use his force superiority to maintain a balanced situation until zhuge liang died. Actually the Shu force was 1/5 of Wei force.

  • Actually jordanmaru, yes on a few occasions Sima Yi did beat Zhuge Liang. But one victory you might attribute to Sima Yi is the capture of Jieting. But this was due to the fact that Ma Su ignored orders and numerous reminders and lost. Also, I would like to point out that Liu Shan was an incompetent ruler. Sima Yi was shaken up so badly that he refused to come out and fight. Still, Zhuge Liang was able to lure him to the battlefield and win another victory.

  • hey hisui86, never take this off! xD

  • the singer sounds a lot like the one in the Dian Wei's deat vid.

  • oooooh no

  • Anyone watch 'The Warlords' starring Andy Lau, Jet li and Takeshi? The actor of this 'Sima Yi' appear in that movie too. Not bad.. lol

  • 軍機三公之一...

  • really? as which char? i watched em but not much cause i don quite like them

  • This Sima Yi actor acted in one of the high lord that Jet li served. I was surprised to see him there though.. lol

  • yes zhuge liang is better.....Sima yi got lucky that epsoide where rain came and saved him.........surpisingly in most sanguo games, the smartness of Zhuge liang is always 100(max 100) and Sima Yi is 99..lol

  • though sima yi was a genius militay general and strategist; however, zhuge liang is one of the greatest strategist, politician, astronomer and inventor in chinese history

  • I agree with you. Zhuge Liang is one of the greatest strategist in Chinese history. However, it is very sad to see the ending of Romance the Three Kingdoms that he didn't successfully united China before he dead. Sima Yi you have to get him credits too. He was also a great military leader. If it was not him, I think Zhuge Liang would have a big chance. Too bad Three Kingdoms period has to end with Jin (Western Jin) united.

  • Nevertheless, Romance the Three Kingdoms has left as very valuable knowledges and interesting stories. I'm hoping anybody who can read Chinese could have a chance to read the Novel.

  • love this song thanks.

  • Sima Yi and Zhuge Liang - what a magnificent rivalry!

  • 各有千秋, 棋逢敵手﹗痛快 痛快

  • 痛你个头!

  • What the heck you mean??? Please clarify.

  • Permit me to explain my response. Sima Yi and Zhugeliang weren't "Rivals", since Sima Yi had in numerous circumstances exlaimed that the was not nearly as competent as Kong Ming. The reason Zhugeliang lost (according to ROTK) was mainly due to external influences. So, there was never a "rivaly" in the sense that the two men were competing on an equal footing. Sima Yi had a much more competent Ruler behind him - cao Rui, while Zhuge Liang had to settle with the likes of A Dou.

  • yep for reals 痛你个头啊!so your in China using youtube?

  • nope, I live in America, whatever made you think that i am in China?

  • ummmmm chinese typing? like关羽(Guan Yu)

  • How he is bias? it's only zhuge liang and sima yi.

  • Wonderful song! Thanks for putting this up on Youtube! But you seem to be *very biased*:-) At least, Cao Cao, Sun Quan ... deserve several seconds of appearance in this video. Also, it's better to put a Chinese title for easier search.

  • great! thanks for the upload

  • Thnx^^

  • ahah finally! I love this song! aww titan got here first.

  • Nice video, hisui! :)
