@atgskater14 first of all you don't know what the problem with the Jeep is because it's never been found just like the Toyota issue. I too believe the issue with Toyotas is computer related but we don't know that for a fact. Come one, get real, I don't like Toyota but Toyota didn't hide anything anymore than Chrysler. Chrysler said SUA "Sudden Unintended Acceleration" is NOT possible and even "again" defended Toyota in it's blogs saying SUA is not possible!!
@atgskater14 so given Chrysler's stance on the issue and being they've said in their corporate blog that SUA claims are "baseless" even when it came to Toyota Tacoma SUA claims you would then have to believe Toyota doesn't have a problem if you want to listen to Chrysler. The exact source of the issue has never been truely confirmed for Jeeps NOR Toyota mainly because it is is so difficult to duplicate to see and isolate the issue.
@soupsdone well, I guess it's settled then, Toyota DOESN'T HAVE an SUA issue given your logic. Jeep Grand Cherokees have well over a thousand SUA complaints, Toyotas were just under 500 that started the whole Toytoa hysteria. If something happens so often because car washes alone have seen the issue so much it's probably happening quite a bit. It may not prove anything to you but the thousands of NHSTSA complaints, countless stories and video probably don't prove anything to you either.
@LZKS Recall's aren't typically forced nor was Toyota forced. They stepped up whether people want to believe that or not. I'm not a Toyota fan but if Chrysler took half the responsibility Toyota has for their vehicles overall, this channel wouldn't even exist. I think it's BS that Chrysler "is" being protected just to be given away to FIAT a foreign company, which is currently in the works, NOT to mention it "was" privately owned and before that was 100 percent German owned. It's a joke!
Interesting. Apparently, the Grand Cherokee used to share some of the same electronics with the Toyota 4Runner. Also, Toyota was FORCED to "take responsibility" for their problems. They still haven't in Japan. Toyota knew about their accelerator, rollover and braking problems for a long time. They have just been covering them up. Similar accelerator problems happened in Japan in the '80s.
@wd1094 toyotas are completely different from japan and us. its a domestic brand meaning the majority of it needs to be made in the us. japan on the other hand uses all parts from there to keep costs down.
why do powerful car companies like Toyota & Chrysler keep building commercial SHIT that has defects like this? aftermarket floor-mats my butt! where is the value of a good brand name vehicles when the keep assembling pieces of plastic like they were Lego's? they should be sold as the value of a toy Lego if that's the case, not sold as a vehicle...
Every car maker have problems with there vehicles. I believe that the big US 3 want to make it known more to the public because Toyota is the number one car company in the world.
There is a problem with most cruise control systems not just Jeep or Toyota. If you hit resume and set at the same time the vehicle will experience an unintended acceleration, however hitting the brakes will still disable the cruise system.
@huntwds actually, you don't have to even hit those buttons in cases where the cruise can kick in on its own if malfunctioning and in some cases won't even disable when the brakes are hit.
@dodgechryslersucks I don't know the truth, but I hear gov't forced Toyota to do recalls. Also, watch Sandiego6 news on the lexus crash. Out of nowhere, they randomly show a clip of GM dealerships. Mad sketchy. So, I'm thinking Toyota has no choice but to apologize. Dodge Chrysler are obviously protected by US Govt.
Chrysler even issued a recall some time ago on Jeeps with LINKAGE controlled Throttlebodies because the IAC and/or TPS was causing idle to jump when put into drive.
Additionally, it has been suspected that Cruise Control malfunctions are to blame. This has been proven as a possibility by a mechanic on a news story who simulated a short in the CC, while it "was switched off", he shorted a couple of wires together and the pedal depressed on its own.
Absolutely, I've been in the same situations as you as well (with multiple Chrysler vehicles) and it is amazing that people are so clueless and ignorant.
People like to deny, talk a lot of BS and just really don't know until it happens to them just like you said.
I've actually had people contact me saying they didn't beleive the channel, purchased a Dodge, Chrysler vehicle and "wish" they listened!
@dodgechryslersucks agree 100% I have a Chrysler product {jeep} and has been by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned. My dad also use to work at a Dodge dealership and people came in all the time complaining about issues they had with their vehicles. I even know ppl that worked for Chrysler, yet don't and wouldn't own one. People should stop trying to defend these vehicles and LISTEN!.
Thank you for posting this. It puts context to the Toyota situation. It also begs the question "Why is Toyota getting so much attention and this isn't?"
This happened to me when i was bagging a rental loaner jeep grand cherokee. Unlike toyota this is not a electical problem just a floormat problem. When the jeeps accelerator got stuck i was only going roughly 30kmh so i had lots of time to reach down and pull the pedal out with my hand. I didnt think much of this problem but if worse came to worse i coulda put it in neutral. This was roughly 5 years ago so the jeep GC itself must have been a 03-06 model
You had a floormat issue however, this has been a real issue with JGC's (unrelated to and beyond floormats and is actually exactly like the Toyota issue).
There have been witnesses at crash scenes that saw absolutely nothing touching the pedal while engines were still reving and wheels still spining at multiple crash scenes.
Sometimes people in JGC's, nothing touching the pedals, idle at normal speed, then as soon as they shifted into drive they shot off full throttle!
Jeep Grand Cherokee Sudden Acceleration, yup herd about this when i worked at Baltimore port, one brand new Jeep bound for export to Europe crashed into 12 parked cars also brand new. driver did survive, dont know much what happened after.
TOYOTA IS FUCKED UP! They have tons of problems since many years ago !! The Ford Pinto was build under homologed specifications accord his time !Thats why Ford won a lot of demands ! CHRYSLER is not a example for good cars !
If you want good cars dont look to Japan or China ; look to Europe !
I bought my first Jeep grand cherokee limited edition, brand spankin new, leather seats, heated, all the bells and whistles. It needed serious repair within the first year, after that i had to put it in N to start, then all the electrical issues started after, heated seats failed, cd changer failed then the front cd player failed. Not to mention at one of the numerous repairs I had, one of the mechanics blew my my right front speaker, they denied it. Wasnt very pleased with overall quality.
@dodgechryslersucks We're laughing at this video on the jeep forums. We've never heard of an issue. And unless you can produce these documented cases, I still don't think 100 some odd vehicles dictates 3.4 million vehicles have a problem.
@bdoc118 Well, I'm laughin' at you mindless Chrysler owners back, it's called VISIT THE NHTSA (NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION) AND DO SOME RESEARCH ONLINE!
"Hasn't happened to me" so it's NOT POSSIBLE RIGHT?
I'm sure there's a bunch of Toyota owners out there that are saying the same thing! But Toyota is recalling their vehicles for no reason right?
Did every Ford Pinto explode when they "could" when hit, no? I'LL SAY IT AGAIN, THATS NOT HOW DEFECTS WORK!
@bdoc118 I wouldn't be laughin' if I were you guys, you guys probably also never heard of the Jeep Park to Reverse Defect, Gen3 Seatbelts that can allow occupants to be ejected in crashes affecting over 14 million Chrysler vehicles. Chrysler even witnessed crash test dummies being ejected. Probably haven't heard of that either? Typical Chrysler owner ignorance.
I bet you and your friends never heard of the Jeep Park to Reverse Defect, Gen3 Seatbelts that can allow occupants to be ejected in crashes affecting over 14 million Chrysler vehicles. Chrysler even witnessed crash test dummies being ejected. Probably haven't heard of that either? Typical Chrysler owner ignorance.
Amen, unless somoene has had to deal with the financial hardship of a major defect, they are ignorant. I still own a 2003 Dodge Intrepid on its second engine. The second engine failed after 35,000 miles with frequent oil changes and regular maintenance. The car is now toast. I've heard some pretty ignorant remarks from people who can't understand why I can't, in good concience, recommend a Dodge just because my car was a P.O.S.. Get a clue.
Everyone is so concerned about Toyota's that are made here in the US while THE SAME thing has been happening for years with Chrysler vehicles and also ignore over 14 millions unsafe Gen3 Seatbelts in Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep from 1993-2004 where people have been "ejected" from their vehicles. Chrysler even witnessed crash test dummies being ejected but still used the design. Instead they were given billions in bailout money and helped to be "given" away to FIAT, an Italian company.
Lol. I could make a video with different cars accelerating through intersections and blame it on unintentional acceleration. The beauty of adding text to videos. I've owned 2 Jeeps and never had a problem, nor was I turned away from a car wash. A bunch of hype. I'm not worried. If you're dumb enough to confuse a gas pedal with the brake pedal, then you deserve the consequences.
The beauty of ignorance! So what if you never had a problem?
Toyota has a sudden acceleration problem, DOES IT HAPPEN TO EVERYONE?
I don't think some of you people really understand defects You guys all act like you are stuck in a small minded world "didn't happen to me so it can't happen!"
This has NOTHING to do with confusing the pedals. AGAIN, THERE WERE DOCUMENTED CASES WHERE WITNESSES AT CRASH SCENES SAW JEEP ENGINES REVING AND WHEELS SPINING NOTHING TOUCHING THE PEDAL!
so youre saying there were witnesses, other than the moronic owner, who actually approached the seemingly violent vehicle (engine revving, wheels spinning), opened the driver side door, and actually examined the pedals foremost? unlikely not too many would have even approched this vehicle in its descructive state, let alone note the status of the pedals when the main priority is to kill the engine. chances are, the owners of these vehicles were at fault and made up these tales for their own sake
YES, PEOPLE RAN TO THE MULTIPLE CRASH SCENES TO TRY AND HELP, IT IS COMMON YOU KNOW, VEHICLES CRASH AND PEOPLE TRY TO HELP, WTF IS SO HARD TO BELIEVE ABOUT THAT? Hell, people have even pulled people out of burning vehicles before haven't they! The vehicles ALREADY crashed into something or flipped, they weren't moving, why would people be scared?
You can't imagine people asking what happened and the driver saying "I don't know it just accelerated" and people looking around at the scene?
The way you look at things, do you believe that being right here on YT is possible? Do you believe that, let alone you are using a computer that contains a magnetic disk storage device rotating at 7200 revolutions per minute and central processing unit that can perform millions of calcuations per second?
If you don't believe JGC SUA is possible then I guess the Toyota issue isn't possible either (you can't have it both ways).
@beatlespersun Yeah, on the right of the screen, when it was placed into drive it just tore off full throttle on its own driving straight into the intersection hitting a car and flipping.
OK thanks dodgechryslersucks. That does suck though...all SUA's suck, but Chrysler is the worst offender when it comes to safety. I don't care hoe safe they are today, their reputation & history is a story of tragic death. Thats why our family didn't buy any of their cars. Read what I put on pvsheridan's channel comment section. You'll see what happened when we were thinking of buying new cars. I recommend you read it.
right on! I checked it out, it's good you did your research and passed up a Dodge or Chrysler. It makes me really happy to know that people are reseraching before they buy and more and more people are finding out the truth about Chrysler and not buying their vehicles!
i will never buy a crysler cars my old minvan did it and my 2008 chrysler 300c that was nice i am glad i dumped both of them i now drive a ford mustang gt stickshift best ford i ever driven so fuck chrsler and the mopers they can rot in hell for the mopersKILLING MILLONS OF PEPOLE
I'm glad someone else is stuck with our old POS Grand Cherokee, the only thing ours was good for was guzzling gas and eating rotors like potato chips! And that's why we own an Audi/VW product now!
Unsafe Cars are like Hamburgers. People could hear all these bad stories but their not going to get rid of their car until it kills them or injures them and you dont want to give up burgers and fried twinkies until it gives you a heart attack.
No one likes to hear about their favorite car company sucks like they dont want to hear about Burgers being bad for you.
Even though I'm a big GM fan I still think they should of went out of business but thats a whole different topic =P
If you like Chrysler and tend to believe what they tell you, you'll also believe that this is not an issue with Toyotas.
Like I said in the video when talking about Sudden Acceleration in Toyota Tacomas Chrysler says "these claims are baseless" so if you are going by those standards I guess you can't rip on Toyota anymore? Don't believe me I'll show you the Chrysler LLC blog!
I don't mind if you don't like Toyota, but you rip on one company taking care of the issue but defend one not?
I don't like Toyotas myself or do I own one but you guys who hate Toyota but love Chrysler are so hypocritical and blinded by Chrysler's image.
This is also why I disable comments.
Toyota ONLY had like 52 for 2008? That's not very much. What you should (and hopefully one day realize), you have one company that didn't address the issue (Chrysler) and another that did (Toyota) and Toyota is doing the right thing by recalling any vehicle with similar components that "could be" affected.
and ..toyota didnt step up ..they got sued lawls..and i think if NHTSA gets a certain amount of complaints they will take charge and investigate it ...I do remember hearing about a law suit because tacomas had the sudden acceleration and I also remembering hearing about NHTSA investigating it..
Sorry but you are WRONG. They may have got sued but they stepped up and accepted responsibility, something THAT JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN WITH CHRYSLER. There are many very serious widespread safety defects, people have exposed, proven, taken Chrysler to court for (thousands of NHTSA complaints), Chrysler does NOT accept any responsibility so in contrast to Chrysler (the point here), Toyota DID step up.
Chrysler doesn't do jack shit but blame the customer and use political infuences to get out it.
NHTSA does NOT take charge and DOES not force auto manufactures in most cases, a major misconception.
Chrysler had defects where the NHTSA tried to get Chrysler to take action and Chrysler either refused or stalled as long as they could. Almost every recall is completely voluntary. Almost no manufacturer is ever forced to issue one.
Chrysler has even been sued, destroyed evidence and disobeyed court orders. Toyota DID NOT do that. My point. compared to Chrysler, they did.
Grand Cherokees are pretty solid? How many have "you had first hand experience with"? My buddy owned one, blew the engine at about 75K, blew the tranny at about 80K. Rotors were always warping too. I've also see complaints about Quadradrive systems going out (when actually used as advertised for what they can do), most people just drive them on pavement. Remember the fuel tank explosion issue getting rear ended as slow as just 25MPH? "I'm" grasping at straws? That's what I've said to "you"!
@dodgechryslersucks My Grand Cherokee engine blew at just under 100k and the tranny went around 80K, overheated around 86K, had 5 brake jobs by 50,000, numerus electric issues, overheated at and had to replace the alternator around 40K . Not what I would call a solid vehicle either.
the difference between Chrysler and Toyota is that Toyota will deal with the problem by taking the cars back and fixing them. Chrysler on the other hand will just ignore the problem and hope it goes away. (all their customers die)
the problem with the jeep is the gas pedal the problem with toyota is the computer jeep never hid its problem toyota did

Only diffrence about this car and toyota...Toyota's sudden acceleration killed a few people and injured thousands...
TommyV246 2 years ago
@TommyV246 uh, actually Toyota DID step up! They've recalled every "potentially affected vehicle", halted sales.
Chrysler has had MANY very serious safety defects, even ones they've been sued for and hasn't done jack shit.

Also, Chryslers sudden acceleration HAS KILLED PEOPLE and injured many.

I'm glad someone else is stuck with our old POS Grand Cherokee, the only thing ours was good for was guzzling gas and eating rotors like potato chips! And that's why we own an Audi/VW product now!

Right on!!!!
Our 2000 Caravan has a cracked cylinder bar and pisses gas when you turn on the car.

I don't mind if you don't like Toyota, but you rip on one company taking care of the issue but defend one not?
dodgechryslersucks 2 years ago

TommyV246 2 years ago
Sorry but you are WRONG. They may have got sued but they stepped up and accepted responsibility, something THAT JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN WITH CHRYSLER. There are many very serious widespread safety defects, people have exposed, proven, taken Chrysler to court for (thousands of NHTSA complaints), Chrysler does NOT accept any responsibility so in contrast to Chrysler (the point here), Toyota DID step up.
Chrysler doesn't do jack shit but blame the customer and use political infuences to get out it.

@TommyV246

That's what I've said to "you"!
dodgechryslersucks 2 years ago
@dodgechryslersucks My Grand Cherokee engine blew at just under 100k and the tranny went around 80K, overheated around 86K, had 5 brake jobs by 50,000, numerus electric issues, overheated at and had to replace the alternator around 40K . Not what I would call a solid vehicle either.

the difference between Chrysler and Toyota is that Toyota will deal with the problem by taking the cars back and fixing them. Chrysler on the other hand will just ignore the problem and hope it goes away. (all their customers die)
