This is insane... You cannot produce a scene like this, and not release the name of the song. This little piece of piano is amazing, we need to know the name!!
This is the most emotional, heartfelt and sincere letter I have ever had the privilege to hear - any parents out there will completely agree if you have this bond with your kids - amazing :-)
Loving you has been the most profound, intense, and painful experience....wow, that is something that is hard to describe until you have kids, but Moody nailed it!
It's the best scene of Californication. I can't forget about this scene. It's most universal text that I' ve ever heard. We try to protect our loved persons and we hurt them...
Such a brilliant scene, and so well worded. It really cut to the core of me, maybe due to having a teenage daughter myself. "Loving you has been the most profound, intense, painful experience of my life. " I think any father would appreciate that line.
It somehow reminds me on Kurt Cobain's letter to Frances...I think that being a father is the most difficult thing to do but it's just my modest opinion :)
This could pretty much be the series finale. This show is just so fucking amazing that it wouldn't be bad even if it ended like this. Actually, it'd be sad waking up the other day and realizing that there wouldn't be anymore a Californication episode.
one of the best in the whole show? come on. Don't mistake me for hating on Californication. It's an amazing show. but it started to decline after the second season. This is a decent monologue, but second episode and he's already downing half a pill bottle? Gimme a break. Dear Karen was so much better!
@MikeyNick Don't forget the stress Hank is in here has been building since Season 1 "The Pilot" When Karen introduces Hank to Mia, after the "F&B" & Hank rescues Becca from the Party (btw Mia's @). I agree with you how moving "Dear Karen" was, but Pearl Jam playing as Hank & Karen walk to Kurt Cobain's Vigil added to the emotion, where “Dear Becca” was raw Parent/Child. I have both a Child & TrueLoveB4... this scene hit me like none ever in my life!
I really have no idea why you would thumb this down. I mean, if u don't like californication, this scene is still great, what could you not like about exactly this scene? Not to mention that you wouldn't watch californication scenes, if u don't like it.
@SuperMageo If you find out please let me know, it's not on the soundtrack that is for sure and I'm always trying to find the secret lil soundtracks they do use in the episodes, they had some great ones last year too.
@Lods22 Many... But it makes me think about the episode in the first season, when Nate finds the secret room of his father and he try to imagine what he was doing there. No obvious link, but I don't know... Both are great. Anyway, looking for an amazing scene in six feet under is not that hard, disparition of Lisa, Nate first and second death, final scene...

Does anyone know if there's a specific name for the piano melody in the background?
SwedishStalker 9 months ago
@SwedishStalker pretty sure it's Vidrar Vel Til Loftarasa by Sigur Ros

@embersghost
Don´t think it is, listened to Vidrar.. it sounds different.
The song during this scene is most likely composed for the series. Let´s hope they release it :)

When hank says " it's getting dark to dark to see" it makes me wanna play knocking on heavens doors - bob dylan.
That's one of the reason why I do love this show, many references to music, and good ones.

A truly beautiful scene. It encompasses the emotion so perfectly; the water, his drowning in it all. It's too much, all at once.

"Noble in thought, weak in action". Absolutely perfect quote, describes Hank into his bones.
