  • This is insane... You cannot produce a scene like this, and not release the name of the song. This little piece of piano is amazing, we need to know the name!!

  • no one knows the piano song ? :(

  • This is the most emotional, heartfelt and sincere letter I have ever had the privilege to hear - any parents out there will completely agree if you have this bond with your kids - amazing :-)

  • I couldn't write that well sober.

  • Loving you has been the most profound, intense, and painful experience....wow, that is something that is hard to describe until you have kids, but Moody nailed it!

  • @Zoidberg312 and its fucking true!!! its so hard...

  • tears....

  • This reminds me too much of something I know I rather not think about.

  • whoever thumbed this down has a cock the size of the little pills hank was popping

  • It's the best scene of Californication. I can't forget about this scene. It's most universal text that I' ve ever heard. We try to protect our loved persons and we hurt them...

  • @manforwoman2 try "in utero" season 2. with Pearl Jam's Nothingman in the background. simply amazin'

  • @rocklove021

Yeah, scene with Hank letter to Karen is my second best from Californication ;)

  • Such a brilliant scene, and so well worded. It really cut to the core of me, maybe due to having a teenage daughter myself. "Loving you has been the most profound, intense, painful experience of my life. " I think any father would appreciate that line.

  • It somehow reminds me on Kurt Cobain's letter to Frances...I think that being a father is the most difficult thing to do but it's just my modest opinion :)

  • does anybody know the guitar solo at the end

    is there any full version

    i am desperate to know

    pls pls reply

  • What is the song???

  • Does anyone know if there's a specific name for the piano melody in the background?

  • @SwedishStalker pretty sure it's Vidrar Vel Til Loftarasa by Sigur Ros

  • @embersghost

Don´t think it is, listened to Vidrar.. it sounds different.

The song during this scene is most likely composed for the series. Let´s hope they release it :)

  • Very touching...

  • thats not a tv show for idiots it got a deep meaning in it and you have to focus to understand it correctly thats why its so good

  • When hank says " it's getting dark to dark to see" it makes me wanna play knocking on heavens doors - bob dylan.

That's one of the reason why I do love this show, many references to music, and good ones.

  • Does anyone know the song name?

  • A truly beautiful scene. It encompasses the emotion so perfectly; the water, his drowning in it all. It's too much, all at once.

  • one of the best in the whole show? come on. Don't mistake me for hating on Californication. It's an amazing show. but it started to decline after the second season. This is a decent monologue, but second episode and he's already downing half a pill bottle? Gimme a break. Dear Karen was so much better!

  • @MikeyNick Don't forget the stress Hank is in here has been building since Season 1 "The Pilot" When Karen introduces Hank to Mia, after the "F&B" & Hank rescues Becca from the Party (btw Mia's @). I agree with you how moving "Dear Karen" was, but Pearl Jam playing as Hank & Karen walk to Kurt Cobain's Vigil added to the emotion, where “Dear Becca” was raw Parent/Child. I have both a Child & TrueLoveB4... this scene hit me like none ever in my life!

  • What is the song in the background? And what is the song at the end title?

  • "Noble in thought, weak in action". Absolutely perfect quote, describes Hank into his bones.

  • I hope Hank dies in the scene.

  • I really have no idea why you would thumb this down. I mean, if u don't like californication, this scene is still great, what could you not like about exactly this scene? Not to mention that you wouldn't watch californication scenes, if u don't like it.

I guess it was a troll.

  • Amazing, David's directing and performance couldn't be more spot on, starting to think this is going to be my favorite season.

  • I really, really LOVE this scene. It´s so fucking well written. I could listen this over and over without getting bored.

  • Can anyone help me find the piano tune playing in the background of Hank´s narration. I´ve searched google but haven´t found anything yet

  • @SuperMageo If you find out please let me know, it's not on the soundtrack that is for sure and I'm always trying to find the secret lil soundtracks they do use in the episodes, they had some great ones last year too.

  • @okiecatstamper72 and @SuperMageo any luck with the piano song?

  • @umk4s

Hi, no not yet. Still looking though..

  • @okiecatstamper72

    I will for sure

  • This scene and the letter to karen are just amazing. This character has so much soul, even though he seems like a prick on the surface.

  • I wonder who's the idiot who thumbed this down !!

  • @DonNumb Karen and her girlfriends

  • This scene is just amazing, i can't stop thinking about it. The best scene ever seen in a tv-show since six feet under.

  • @azazerta I don´t know much about six feet under, but I love this scene

  • @azazerta what sence in six feet under ?

  • @Lods22 Many... But it makes me think about the episode in the first season, when Nate finds the secret room of his father and he try to imagine what he was doing there. No obvious link, but I don't know... Both are great. Anyway, looking for an amazing scene in six feet under is not that hard, disparition of Lisa, Nate first and second death, final scene...

  • @azazerta Yeah it is a pretty good scene, although I still put the finale of Season 3 above it.
