Had a fire truck door open into my chest last week as I rode past at about 20km/h. Took the hit from the heavy door straight to the Knox chest guard and I cannot imagine the serious injuries I would have sustained had I not been wearing it. I sustained two broken ribs, but this was from being knocked off my bike into another car (side ribs), but no breaks from the direct hit from the door to my chest. I always wear it and it has paid for itself already. Great product!
@keller18 I use the Bohn adventure pants for on track use and find they are great in beefing up padding in areas most suits lack. Such as the hips! I lowsided while wearing them and no bruise!
Never the less I own the Knox Contour Back Protector + the Chest Guard. So far I can confirm EVERY information Brian has given in this video. I just want to add something: When you are riding at 80-90°F (= 25-30°C)your back is getting quite hot. I did not really sweat but I could just feel my back getting warmer and warmer the longer I was riding in the sun. I wear a black textile jacket without any zippered vents or climate membrane.
Your information videos are really great. They affect my decison-making on which gear to buy a lot. *two thumps up!* The only reason why I didn't purchase my stuff from STG is that I do not live in the US. Actually the current USD-EUR exchange rate invites Europeans to shop in the USA but shipping costs, european custom duties and especially German taxes break it even again :(
In my opinion KNOX is a better choice. We have looked at the T Pro, while it is nice we are confident the KNOX is a better choice. One example is the coverage offered by the KNOX back protectors as compard to the T Pro. The T Pro narrows at the top lacking coverage for the shoulder blades. This is a major flaw in our opinion.
I like what Knox offers for armor. I ordered the contour back protector. However, Im more of a commuter rather than a racer, but I like taking precautionary steps to protecting myself on the road to work, school etc. Just wondering how practical the padded shorts would be for everyday riding comfort-wise? Ive had pretty bad bruising on the thighs so preventing that from happening again would be nice.

@Deesboy08 That sounds painful to say the least. Glad you were wearing your gear.

How do you go in to a tank slapper at 160mph?
whatever52h 1 year ago
@whatever52h Go out on the track with the damn steering damper turned off on a bike that was a bit unstable in a straight line.

Kind of a random question , whats your take on under pants armor, such as the Bohn adventure pants?
Is it something you would consider wearing?
keller18 2 years ago
Bohn makes a nice product, have heard good things about the pants. Personally prefer the short and knee guard combo as it will be a bit cooler

Hi Brian, great videos. I've got a kc2000, how would it in your opinion compare to the latest Contour? Should I consider replacing it? Thanks
aleshamahon 3 years ago
I would suggest replacing the KC2000 with the Contour. I believe the Contour is a real step up

I have not tested the Knox Contour under leathers yet but I guess its heat management results will be equal or even worse.

How do the Bohn shorts compare to the Knox ones?
D3ADSY 3 years ago
Remember the street is more hazardous than the track. I would suggest picking up a pair and giving it a shot. The shorts are comfortable
