@dinahmanatee the virus shown is a bacteriophage. Polio is an enteric virus (and therefore spread through the fecal-oral route) that can spread to the nervous system. I'm not sure why you said that other person was wrong. They aren't.
Attention ignorant, slow-thinking, dull-witted right-wing morons: You should NOT be vaccinated against Polio. It's a "liberal" conspiracy created by Obama to sterilize your kids and eliminate the white race. It's part of our NWO plan.
why does everyone say needles are painless WHEN THEYRE NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!ESPECIALY THE POLIO VACCINE!!!!!!!the needle is 2 INCHES WIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!i gotta say the i would rather be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life than get the vaccine
My fridnd and I are working on a project right now on the polio vaccine and we are making a documentary. This video is great and has been a great help to us. Thank you very very much!
See the whole story Dr. Mary's Monkey by Edward T. Haslam, shows you how the polio virus was contaminated with cancer-causing viruses that are now in the bodies of millions of Americans. The vaccine was grown on the kidney cells of monkeys that had SV40 and other monkey viruses. Scientists like Bernice Eddy had their lives destroyed for trying to warn the public.
Polio was directly linked to DDT spraying especially on cows and their feed. There was no polio virus. It was an unsuccessful poisoning meaning people survived it and suffered with paralysis and iron lungs, better known as Polio. Wake up America!!!
This was just a video to explain how the virus and vaccine works to either younger people or just a simpler way to look at it. He wasn't making fun of polio, maybe he added a few jokes to lighten up the mood. You need to chill.
I caught polio when I was eight weeks old, in 1949. It hit my left leg, right arm and both shoulders. I more or less recovered and spent 25 years as a journalist, travelling the world (going through 169 airports in 89 countries.) 40 or so years later, PPS started to kick in and I am now on a downward path towards a wheelchair. God help me.
one of family members name JD what we called him had polio from the age 6 to his 70s he die a few weeks ago I know that he was strong to live that long>
I wish I could find words of comfort for you, but I cant even begin to imagine how it must feel to be attacked by this horrible horrible virus. My thoughts are with you and everyone who is enduring any kind of disease which is destroying their and their families lives.
@Slikhedgehog I saw one for the first time in the Science Museum in London, UK. I had never heard of them before and on seeing a short film about them and reading up on them, I was horrified. I can't stop having nightmares.
wonderful. absolutely adorable! hope you got an A!
one thing though, in my work with the Iowa Polio Project, it was mostly that the virus would attack certain limbs, not necessarily "the neck down" although i do remember one story where he was completely paralyzed except his tongue. he regained movement, but remains in a wheelchair. just my 2 cents.
quite the contrary.. i met a woman named Diane Odell, very sweet courageous woman in Tennessee, she has been in an iron lung since 1950 and she has to have an iron lung because polio paralyzed all of her body including her lungs, it doesn't affect the nerves, just the muscles, so she can feel, just can't move, or breathe

@ Psyche8D, wrong, it can be contracted through the oral and fecal route.

0:50 it looks like the virus is on an acid trip with that music is this a joke?
pureefficient 8 months ago
Virus shown is a bacterial virus and does not attack humans.
Polio vaccine is an oral vaccine.
Polio is not contracted through the skin. Spred is by ingestion of fecal material.
