Alright, you seriously need to buy the new Benchmade 755 MPR and be the first to review it on here. I didn't like the pictures of it at first but it has definitely grown on me...it's on my list.
CreativeOutletHobbie, You have so many great knives but I've yet to see you mention a knife sharpener. My recommendation, skip that next knife purchase and instead get an Edge Pro Apex. Trust me you will never care about "out of the box" sharpness again. I've yet to receive a knife that is as sharp as what I can achieve myself. Just my .02
I have a video out there on the sharpmaker. It does fine for me. The out of the box sharpness talk I do is more about manufacturing quality and care put into knives leaving the factory. I know I can sharpen my own stuff, but that requires my time and tools, which I'd rather use elsewhere.
I owned a Sharpmaker for a long time. It's a fine tool for minor touchups and maintaining the factory edge but that's it. You have knives with some incredible steels yet you aren't experiencing nearly their full potential. A highly polished 20~30 degree edge of CPMS30V or CPMD2 can't be beat.
Anyways I'm sorry that you're too busy to sharpen your knives. Being able to maintain your tools is actually one of the funniest parts of a knife hobby. Good day.
that knife has always been in my to buy list, but never really got me excited enough to get it...I'll probably get the 890 torrent before I get the 710.
It's 12% chromium where 14% is a stainless steel. I don't think it would be a problem I got a knife in A2 thats 5% put a patina on it no problems at all. I would not take a A2 blade anywere I knew that it was going to get wet a lot.
fucking bad quality..

I hope the boxed knife is sharper than the one you're attempting to open the box with.

Yeah that one looks pretty cool. I'm not a big fan of the green scales though. They do have some pretty nice looking knives coming out for 2010.

I don't understand why people care about initial sharpness. I like sharpening my knives. That's part of the knife user's life.
The CR knives by the way have terribly bad heat treatment. They are really only good for cutting papers.

You got that from Knifeworks, right? I can tell by the box and from your mentioning of coupon codes.

I wish they went with a steel that has more rust resistance, but I've heard good things from D2.

I have a couple of D2 blades that don't have any problems, but yeah something to look out for.
