This is Captain Brady speaking!!!.....okay in this shot everybody lean to left....then in the next shot, everybody lean to the right....now everybody bounce up and down for the turbulence....so corny, you gotta luv it~
I remember this one too. Never have been so many TV stars (and an upcoming "Q") have participated in a so little refined special FX disaster movie (possibly trying to get at a certain coming motion picture about a now discontnued supersonic plane co-starred by Sylvia Kristel (no comment). Now, there were some brilliant FX moments if you skip most of the bad ones. And it brings some nostalgia about the actors and aviation.
I remember watching this as a kid too, when it ran as Movie of the Week.
I think I was 11 at the time, but I remember noticing those engines, and thinking "oh brother!" Hahaha, even cheesier than I remembered it. Yep, folks, the 1970's encapsulated perfectly here.
Ah! Another aviation buff, I see. Thanks for the compliment! Haven't started on the XB-70 yet, but she's coming up soon. I will post when I've finished.
You should make a trailer/teaser for this film using clips from the film itself and from the documentaries on the real-life American SST that you have. Both planes look similar enough.
@bennjr I am thinking of making a trailer for this film myself. Does anyone know if there were originally promos/teasers/TV spots for this when it Premiered back on ABC - and if so - what were they like?
I watched it the night it was on; was 16 at the time, and I think there was a trailer, but can't say for sure. it's VERY TOUGH to get any info at all on this flick. I do have a page from TV guide (Full page ad), and have the film on DVD for anyone who is interested.
Is that the one of the black-and-white poster or is there an article on the film? I'd LOVE to see it! Did the version that was broadcast when it Premiered have the nudity in it or was it cut and replaced with the 'clean' version of that scene?
The effects weren't too bad actually, compared to the animation used for some flying sequences in "Airport '79". Honestly, I would rather see a model of a fictitious SST against a skyline backdrop rather than an outlined animated Concorde. The film's director also directed "The Horror At 37,000 Feet" and "Airport '79". Clearly David Lowell Rich had a love for disaster/action-in-the-sky films and for SST's aswell. But to be fair, they are still better than some of the rubbish out there today!
"..We shouldn't have turned him down for production supervisor...we should've shot him!" LOL!

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology and vision:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Why do we enjoy supersonic flying?
(3) Why do we think that supersonic flying will become popular?
(4) Why do we want to pilot a supersonic jet, such as Boeing 2707?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

This movie is SO STUPID!!!
An sst with plain engines...
And the special effects are SO CHEAP!!!
It's all the fault of the all-American people
themselves who ruined theis own sst of
which was the Boeing 2707 in 1971:
shame on you.
Now YOU!

I remember watching a bit of this when I was a kid.
Seeing the FX now it's just hilarious. The 70s did have some great airplane disaster novels and movies.
