  • I was at his show today in Williamston, SC. He can still hit the notes in this song! It was perfect! He still has it! BTW, ETC loves his fans! Children mobbed him at the stage in between songs, and he signed every autograph. After the show, he signed pictures and CD's, and took time with every fan! Much to the dismay of his handlers who told us to be quick, lol! ETC is a class act!

  • @Arcticfox36 im so jealous. wish i could have been there :(

  • love this song...

  • the country music in the 80's was, and still is, the best! still listen to it, found a radio station for it :)...

  • If I could put my life into song...well this would fit it PERFECTLY.

  • And then sometimes, I realize that although our hearts may still sing of love,

  • These were the times you could hear the 1st few bars of a Singers voice and know right away who it was. Today and for at least the past 10-15 years most of the newer artists sound the same. I miss the old singers and songs that had some depth.

  • seen etc a few years ago at a lil show...goin to see him again may 28th..cant wait..

  • love the "old country" yeah... whatever happened to it!?

  • back in the 80's i hocked a sterio to go to an ETC concert...well worth it too.

  • story of my life " once in a blue moon i will do something right "

  • LOVE THIS SONG TOUCHS MY HEART FEEL THIS WAY ALOT!

  • What an awesome country song!!!!! Not this crap they play nowadays!

  • @FloridaBoy5315 i know today is crap now :(

  • todays country stars all sound the same, and they never had to play in a honkytonk to make a living, they have not been to the school of hard knocks like the traditional country music greats have.

  • @ezrider47 I agree almost all the singers now are puppets there is very few that pay their dues and do it right Jamey Johnson is a true country singer he does it the right way but I dont know if music will ever be as good as it was when we heard Waylon,ETC and the other greats on top.TC

  • @stakfan lol HE NOT REAL COUNTRY lol

  • You folks want good ol' country streaming to your PC? Try KVET.COM from here in Austin, TX. Great stuff that you won't regret.

  • I challange any so called modern country singer to do what ETC does. He is one of the best and sadly he can hardly get booked into even a honky tonk, cut and shoot Saturday night Juke Joint.

  • sadly, this music has left the dial...unless you can seek out a good retro country station...these shows are great; it's just that I refuse to tune in at 4:30 am on Sat morning! This prime stuff has been relegated practically off the dial--unfairly--to make space for the new stuff.

  • This nothing but the best of him,,what a beautiful touching song~

  • Awesome!!

  • I have always loved this song. As I sat on my balcony on a cruise ship I took years ago, I stared over the dark Caribbean waters as the blue moon set on the horizon with its reflection to the sea and played this song. It was just by chance, but instilled a spirit in my heart that this song had a special meaning and purpose for me. It is one of the most beautiful country songs of all time.

  • i seen him in concert in bryan tx bout 2 years ago he is one of the greats

  • One of a kind singer doing a one of a kind song. Thanks to Mark for the link. Two thumbs up.

  • THIS IS ME!!!!!! ONCE IN A BLUE MOON I WILL DO SOMETHING RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE MADE SO MANY MISTAKES IN MY LIFE AND I HAVE SO MANY REGRETS BUT ONCE IN A BLUE MOON I WILL DO SOMETHING RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I love this song. Reminds me of my ex-husband.

  • I know that there is someone out there who believes in love, hope and peace. I do. this song reminds me it is out there.

  • this is the best song by earl thomas conley and he was a great singer

  • they don't make music like this anymore..great song, brings back memories..

  • A very beautiful song by Earl!

  • ETC is country

  • such a sweet sound to the ear. going to tootsie's for a cold one

  • The old life story singers have all just been put away. The wonderful song "Old Violin" has the story. Most country stations have moved along to the "younger" set. That's too bad. Conway, George, Loretta and the rest aren't "news" items anymore. That's too bad. Most of the youth today never learned to appreciate their type of singing. Oh people, you have missed a goldmine of stories with smiles and tears. You just might decide that I'm right. Enjoy!

  • @CntryGentleman i agree. ask yourself while listening to a "modern" song can i close my eyes and be there? ive maybe, MAYBE found2 that i could. now, these relics as they call them. ive found maybe 1 that i couldnt imagine myself in that song. GOD bless you Earl thomas conley

  • @yamahonkawazuki song writers were GREAT in the 80's, and WONDERFUL singers. People have seem to run out of stuff to write/sing about, and have really ran out of different tunes for songs. So many songs, Country and Rock (is it ROCK today?), sound the same, tune wise. Love the 80's for country and rock music, not b/c was teen then, but they knew music then!!!!

  • @christyharts agreed

  • @CntryGentleman i dont decide youre right. i KNOW. i grew up on alot of the stuff. includign mr conley. i ONLY discovered old vviolin wihtin the last 3 years lol. i was thinking to self " how have i missed this gem?!?!?!?!

  • my favorite song by him. :D

  • awesome thank ya

  • if you think about it, most of us think we are doing right, however we are hurting someone! we do not even realize it!

  • @lwarzon So true

  • I remember when it first came out in 1986. I was just going to high school. WOW! how much time has passed! I FEEL SO OLD!

  • if you sing it right they can feel it.and earl sings it right

  • I agree..this is what real country sounds like...not the new pop music b.s.

  • I know, todays country, sad. none of them ,sound as good as this.sorry, just speaking the truth.

  • this is what bill anderson asked on country family reunion . " why don't we hear these on the radio " ? the response was these songs don't get air play because there too old .

  • Miss This Kinda Country!!!!

  • I also got to see George S. many times when he was the house band in Gruene TEXAS, at Gruene hall( oldest bar in TEXAS)sorry guys, like I said you will never know. But at least you can enjoy ther music. Also got to see Gary Stewart 4 times!!!!!!!!

  • I fell for those of you not from TEXAS. You truly will never know waht we have experienced not just living here but being raised here. My family has been in Texas since the late 1700's before it was "TEXAS"(no I'm not hispanic). I grew watching George Jones, Willie,Waylon,Kris,David A.Coe my parents took us to as many concerts as we could make. Before Mark Chesnut,Tracy Bird, and Clay Waklker made it big I went to a bar where those guys played every Friday night. Continue on next post.........

  • @Lastdaysmercy the men you just named, cant touch Merle Haggard

  • this is real country music. not todays garbage wanna be

  • doesn't matter when you get into it. i got into it just recently. always hated it. then came the girl, then the breakup, then geo jones singing "she's lonesome again." now i'm hooked. george, hank, merle, kris and willie are my faves. can't stand the new country stuff. horrible... i like krauss and harris though. travis is on the bubble. i think kris brought freak in but it wasn't new. there's always an outlaw element that's admired. who loves a goody two shoes?

  • i found the original video to this song over at spike..... i love this song... it brings back alot of memories from my days as a kid.. ETC's music is what i call real country music.

  • @bigdubb72003 it sure does bring ya back! Ahh the Reagan years!

  • i crack up at all the new country singers portraying themselves as cowboys and rednecks, singing about farming and tractors lol, bet most have ever gotten dirty

  • i miss the good country music too. Cant take this stuff nowdays. Something happened back in about 95 and almost everything since has sucked BAD. If you have to profess and keep talkign about how country you are, you probably arent.

  • hey.......mu ....d

  • God, what a voice. Then the message sinks in. Super powerful.

  • This is what you call REAL country music! My goodness I miss the good ole country music! I was country when country wasn't cool.

  • @mom4rtroops the way most people look at it real country still aint cool. this is real country. and hey if it aint cool then neither am i and most people think alright. love it, love it, love it.

  • I love you T.R.P...!!!

  • Classic. I remember this when cmt was young and so was I.

  • Hard Rock Casino, Biloxi, MS Jan. 2010. I'll be there. Saw him in 2005, he was great. Still sounds the same.

  • This is R E A L COUNTRY MUSIC what ever happened to it!???? GO ETC!

  • @Mrrickthestick I don't remember an electric keyboard being an essential of REAL country. While ETC is considered solid country gold today, at the time he was considered very pop country the same way Patsy Cline was considered "Cow"-mopolitian.

  • This is a R E A L man's Beard What ever happened to it????

  • @Mrrickthestick YES IT IS, AINT IT!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO GREAT COUNTRY MUSIC LIKE THIS?

  • @Mrrickthestick im wondering the same thing

  • @Mrrickthestick they sure dont make em like they used to!

  • @Mrrickthestick your right i've been asking my self the same thing where in hell did it go new country sure suck big time more real country bring it back

  • @Mrrickthestick i love old country this new stuff is just noise

  • he has such a beautiful voice whatever happend to him .I saw him at the corn festival 1991? in Florida he is very good

  • OK!!! the next real blue moon is on december 31st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope ill be able to see it from ireland!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING TO SEE ONE SINCE I WAS 10!!!

  • Easy enough to see a blue moon in Ireland. Stand on the Falls or Shankill road when it's cold and the other side will show you one.

  • Hear E.T.C. and other Classic Country artists at RadiofreeCountry

  • Thanks MArk for sharing¨!

  • aw ty mark, havent heard this in ages,, ETC certainly was an awesome singer, another one long lost and not heard from

  • Have most of "ETC's" cd's & this is definitely one of his best songs, really takes me back down memory lane, haven't heard this one in ages, my fault, lol....have it on cd..........Thanks Mark !!!-----Jo

  • Haven't heard this song in ages. It's nice.

  • Beautiful song from yesteryear, they don't make 'em like they used to

  • one of my daddys favs

  • This song is good. :D

  • Nashville will chew you up and SPIT you out..............

  • Had a broke heart when this song came out.Called a buddy in the middle of the night 2 find out who sang it.Good friends are hard beat!!Seems like a thousand years now,but this song is a great song meant to last a life time!!

  • I love this song. I remember when the video premiered on CMT.

  • ETC is a great singer i love to listen to some good music for a change not many of those left now . i think most of the new ones now just run out of songs to write about

  • I don't get it. At the time, this was criticized as un-country because of the use of synthesizers and distorted guitar. Now people are saying that this is "real country music" and bad-mouthing today's artists for not being authentic.

    Oh the irony.

  • I think we can all agree that 98% of country music today is crap. If Willie Nelson showed up in Nashville in 2009, he's be ridden out of town on a rail.

Dragknuckle, do you have any support for your contention that ETC was criticized? I was listening to country music in the 1980's and I don't remember that at all.

  • The introduction of synthesizers to country music was VERY controversial. Most of the people I jammed with back then HATED that sound, even though they still liked ETC because he had killer songs and a great voice.

I myself was a purist in those days, preferring Skaggs, Travis, and Strait, and rejecting the "modern" stuff like ETC as "crap". My loss, as I can see now.

My point is that there is no such thing as "real" country music. It constantly changes, because it is a living thing.

  • @dragknuckle good point and I agree with you.I listen to Willie Nelson and Alex Harvey in the 70s....

We are living things that constantly change

    PEACE

  • video :) LOL

  • damn makes me wanna see the video.

  • yes a classic, someone who can sing and put there heart into it!! wish i could bring those yrs back!!!!what a time for country music back then

  • A classic!! 10 stars!

  • story of my life glad he could sing with such emotion that years later generations can feel his music

  • He's still alive. I saw him on the Direct TV 101 recently. He still has a great voice, but like the rest of us, older. The song takes me back, too.

  • Good Song....ty for sharing....(Describes My Husband) lol

  • He's in VA beach tonight.

  • I freaking love this song!!!!!! Damn it takes me back.

  • Earl died years ago...

  • No he is still alive.. he is 67 yrs old

  • i thought he was still alive. i heard he still writes songs. do you know why he quit singing?

  • He is still alive. Im not sure if he is writing songs or not. I have heard he quit due to some vocal cord issues.

  • i did,nt know he died ! i heard he still writes songs but i never heard he died

  • Hard to write songs when you are dead. Of course he's still alive.

  • awesome song..passionate and emotionally raw...brings tears to my eyes...where is etc now? does he still perform? love to know...

  • i heard someone say he had surgery on his throat and it changed his voice so he quit.

  • Does anyone have another ET song they could upload. Too Much Noise about a truck driver always on the road. I beleive it was on the Fire and Smoke album. Is Et still doing live performances?

  • Wore a cassette out in my old auto about 20 years ago just playing this song over and over and over again. Had not heard the song for years and it tweaked a lot of wonderful memories. Thank You YouTube!!! Earl Thomas Conley is a Master and delivers emotion like nobody else can.

  • i remember watching this vid when i was a kid..great song..left a mark
