Elektric Engines can go up to 20000RMP and need less care than Combustion Engines. Look at the Jaguar X-C75 its a Hybrid Racer with 800BHP and Hybrid because its Uses Turbines to charge the Batterie and so its able to go about 1000 Kilometers. Elektric Cars are Expansive because the a build in little Series and all the cost of Development are put on Top the Material Prices. So Elektric Engines are for Sure the Future. Electric motors are more efficient than petrol or diesel with lower centre gravity and 100% acceleration at the touch of the pedal, if wrightspeed got his hands on an f1 chassis , he would make it faster by using electric motors. f1 will be fully electric within the next decade.

some truth to that but an F1 is a fairly extreme machine plus battery electric has a significant disadvantage in the amount of energy it can carry. it's pretty certain we can match an F1 in acceleration and maybe top speed but probably not duration at the same time. yet.

but with battery swap you could probably change formula 1 to be pure battery electric anyway. just means there would be more pitstops. maybe 5 during a race. not sure how the fans would like it. I'd love it

Yes, no, and no. . I doubt you could get the same power and speed out of an electric motor that's the same compact size of the gas engine, I think an electric motor would have too much torque to be in a F1 chassis, F1 engines are not very torquey, but they still tend to spin tires like crazy, that's why they have traction control and launch control.  Plus who would want to listen to a boring whooooshing sound? The sound of an F1 engine is god like.

With gas engines they can mandate what the specific size's of certain part's are etc. With electric and battery's people could have anything hidden in a "code" or what have you. LOL, the (KERS) system was one of F1's biggest failures. Only a 3-5 second shot of power! Only 2-3 team's used it this past season. With no improvement's in lap time's. After a few races no one was using it! And this year ALL F1 team's are abandoning the KERS system! And Braw who won the Championship didn't even use it. So, are you sure of your comment? That is a really cool electric car. As a stock/racecar driver myself..it is easy to pick out when the driver was on the gas and how much he was on the gas. The electric car was way out of its element with both of those cars in another lap or two. However, that being said, that little electric car was the coolest thing I have ever seen. Who doubts now that we already have a clear solution to our current issues? I do about 150miles per week.. i recharge my phone once every two days. Just think of how easy that would be for us to work around this, if we did spend the time and budget we could easily solve this autonomy issue in no time. My car has about 300 miles autonomy with a full tank... we could easily find tecnhologies that allow silent recharging like we already do for cell phones.
