How can we tell whether it is a power regulator or a swithching MOSFET? Some images of IGBT also look the same. Do voltage regulators always begin with 78?
Significant amount of heat, hells yeah.. why the f*** do they develop something that burns everytime you run for 3~4minutes, i made a laser diode driver and LM317 gets so damn hot.. i did put aluminum heatsink on it, can someone tell me where to get these without getting hotter.. i need to run a LM317 based voltage regulator and it shouldnt get hot..
P.S: im a pharmacist.. i dont know most of it, be specific in a general language..
Is there any way to distinguish mosfet from voltage regulator? Do they have any appearance differences, or does it always require checking the datasheet?
@RealationGames Some MOSFETs may physically resemble many voltage regulators (For example, an IRF540 looks just like an MC7805), so check the data sheets.
@entehrend A transistor is very simple and its easy to decrease it in size when u know how to deal with atoms and stuff. Its like one Brain-cell. Its super simple and you wonder how a bunch of these can actually make you think. Maybe they hit a dense of transistors that the computer starts to think by itself o_O. Scary somehow, imagine its not a hacker robbing your bank, its your own computer!!! Cyberdyne and Boston Dynamics will fuse with Google and create a new internet security named Skynet.
i have the middle one of those burnt to a crisp not the board that much just this peice mostly in my kenwood amp, where would i buy this and how much, is it an easy fix?? please help
@stratdude83 Don't you get it, He's just explaining what transistors are for people who don't know but would like to know. Simple as that, now do you understand?
Don't touch them when they're live.. Also, LM317 is a voltage regulator, not a transistor, and are known for getting very hot and often have heat sinks for this reason.
what would i have to but and where its a kenwood kac-624 its sealed no fan and theres one thats completely burned? from the side you hook it up at its the 2nd on the right. i need help with this cause i dont have enough money for someone else to do it. any ideas of what it is i couldnt read it, it was so burned but everything else stayed in pretty good condition or seems like it

is mosfet the same as voltage regulator
013dirtdiver 7 months ago
@013dirtdiver No. But they often have the same package and hence look very similar.
Gunner3210 7 months ago
@Gunner3210 ok thanks for the info!
013dirtdiver 7 months ago
@013dirtdiver No. But it is possible to design voltage regulator circuits _with_ MOSFETs.

1) Hold your breath.
2) Copy all of these steps.
3) Go to two other video.
4) Paste it in the comments.
If you can do all of this without breathing you're a good pot smoke

without transistors you would not have written that
transistors replaced lamps in computers thus making it possible for you to own one for less then $1.000.000 and having to replace thousends of lamps
ekkrir 2 years ago
Plus the fact that now transistors are only 32nm and hundreds of millions can fit in a chip.
