you're totally right with your grouping of Celtic and Germanic languages, all the Celtic languages descend from a common ancestor, called Proto-Celtic, and all the Germanic languages descend from "Proto-Germanic", but Proto-Celtic and Proto-Germanic both also descendet from a common ancestor, called Proto-Indo-European. So the Celtic and the Germanic languages are related, though quite distantly. Remember though that language has nothing to do with genetic relationships.
