Poor monetary policy by the fed. Should have been stronger not to drop rates. Inflation should been the priority concern.

In order to hedge against inflation investors bought oil (and other commodities) this drove the oil price up. Oil price further manipulated by hedge funds, particularly oil futures.

Oil goes up market falls.

Oil companies don't set the price, the market does. Oil came down dubstantially from the previous $135 record, so a massive correction was needed(oil is in a BULL market, remember?). And oil is in a bull market because of the weak dollar more than anything(and the dollar is weak because the Fed prints money like crazy).

It went like this:

Unemployment rises, so confidence in the US markets go down, so stocks and the dollar plunge and so oil rises. Voila.

This Israel stuff is minor in comparison.

The excuse for the oil going uo today is israel said they are going to attack iran,which i think is a bluff,this is said times for us, the corporations have become so powerfull, they own washington,the american people, myself included are going to have to start a revolution to take back this nation,we can start buy never buying any products made in china ever again,we have to start somewhere....

I should have read a few more comments, you said it, the israelis are stirring the pot hard, AIPAC owns washington, the most powerfull lobbyist in DC, did anyone hear about a bill that was going through congress that said bush will not attack iran before his term is over, but AIPAC steps in and says no, and they removed it from the bill, who are they to dictate foreign policy to the usa, it is total BS.
