  • All those people are dead.

  • @amnm12 Probably for half a century.

  • I remember this game...I took my best gal and we had refreshments and cheery good times.

I eventually married the gal, had 3 kids got bored and cheated on her. Divorced by '28 and falling into depression/alcoholism by '33. Contracted Consumption by '36 and took up smoking as it was guarenteed to give pep and zeal. It worked and now I'm 132. Ha yes, those were the days.

  • @DjBobbyLosAngeles because back then the government was very strict with black people. Thay were very racist.

  • @DjBobbyLosAngeles

This was the early 1900s. Racism and discrimination towards black people was very apparent.

  • @DjBobbyLosAngeles becuase its princeton and yale and black people arent smart enough to get into good schools

  • you would think this would be fake but its real but old

  • 2:17 funny ever!

  • football was so different when they never threw the ball !!

  • @truepass2679 It's the british 'football' which is soccer.

  • @truepass2679 It's the british 'football' which is soccer.

  • Maybe Kevin Gilbride, Giants "Offensive" offensive coordinator, should take a look at these films and get some ideas on how to make plays for a ground and pound offense and utilize running backs a bit more.

  • just think, these guys had their whole life in front of them....

  • Once upon a time, when the game was still in its infancy and a strange hybrid of soccer and rugby...

  • This looks like an ugly version of Rugby... The sport has come so far...

  • This makes the 1950's look new :)

  • These two teams go back a long way.

    Talk about tradition.

Anyway, thanks for uploading this piece of football history.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • lol yeah people do seem to look differently along time ago :P

  • Funny how much this looks like a scrum in rugby, since the "forward pass" had not been invented yet. ;-)

  • Google Flying Wedge Football. Teams on offense would mass together 7-8 guys and trample some poor defensive player.

  • Brett Favre's rookie season

  • @youtuuberoxx haha

  • @youtuuberoxx haha

  • not only the video is old but the video itself on youtube is one of the oldest!

  • looks more like ruby shame it changed

  • What is so strange is that the people and the times seemed so different back then, but I'm sure that everyone lived and breathed as we do.

  • @ThePart17 That would make it the oldest FILM ever made. There's no 1869 film.

  • It looks like a big game of smear the queer.

  • I would imgaine that the stadium where this game was played was one of the largest sports venues in the U.S. at the time. The capacity of most baseball parks in the early 20th century was only about 15,000-20,000.

  • This has got to be one of the most creepy videos i have ever whatched. idk why.

  • Haha christ this is crazy... It's funny to see how they played football back then.

  • Are the ref's blind?

  • This was back when football was football.

Now you have all these show-off athletes along with these stupid freakin' rules.

  • Not only are all these people dead now, BUT so are both football programs..

    ZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.............

  • i wonder if mouth guards were optional?

  • @GoGators12188 they werent invented yet

  • About 20,000 at this stadium? Every person at this stadium is now passed on. My point is, this is just one tiny spot, now take all the people in the United States at that same time that have also passed on. My question is, where are all these people buried?

  • Check out the wide reciever in 2:12 (left corner of screen) . That guy was definitely off-sides.

  • @beerborn he wouldnt be a reciever the forward pass was illegal then

  • @beerborn Replay the game! Retract the whole of football history since then! From that play on, it's all a swindle, I tell you!

  • @beerborn Replay the game! Retract the whole of football history since then! From that play on, it's all a swindle, I tell you!

  • ....and here we are, 107 years later, watching the footage. Brilliant...

  • Practically everyone in those days was wearing a hat. Especially all the men were wearing those "derby" hats.

  • yes. they are all dead now. unless theres a 107 year old person that was at that game running around somewhere. that moment in their lives is gone. poof. like it never even happened.

  • Would have been a wonderful time to be alive. The industrious build up of the 1800s, and the hope of a new century. Just imagine the optimism. In 1903 "History" meant the classics and the American Revoltion. Then everything went wrong and the horrible world wars. What a waste. But that's human nature I guess.

  • @d3f1n1t1v

And beer was probably only a nickel in that stadium too.

  • @beerborn 'A nickel' is a relative idea. What was the comparitive inflation rate.

  • Dick Enberg did the play-by-play.

  • Is it me or am i seeing a lot of Jews?

  • @gangstaz001

its just you with a bad joke.

  • Nice historical college football footage. Princeton won this 1903 game by a score of 11-6 and fininshed the season as undefeated National Champions. Yale ended their 1903 season with a record of 11-1.

  • Football today has gotten very dangerous. Especially with the hard hitting of todays players,. they are faster, stronger. The NFL. has had a high number of on the field concussions. There is talk , that the NFL, NCAA, might remove the face mask all together, and possibly bring back the leather helmets. players will be more personable...that would be Awesome.

  • @misterman555 Actually it was MORE dangerous back then with many schools banning it because so many players were DYING each year!

  • @misterman555

There was actually a significant number of on-field fatalities playing the old school game which almost led to it being banned around this time period. The players today are bigger and faster and so the absolute collisions are bigger along with a high rate of injury, but the old game was more brutal (one player got killed on the field by being kicked in the head), had fewer safety measures, and worse dr's. It becomes a matter of "pick your poison".

  • The game has changed just a little since then...

  • This is more Rugby than Football.

  • @lukeallyn American Football evolved from Rugby.

  • @jamdawg That's very obvious in films like this. This resembles rugby far more than it does modern American Football. Amazing how things can evolve...

  • And can you imagine it took the Fla Gators only 90 years to win a national championship! Of course only films of important teams were made during that time so we have no record of the Gators until about the middle 1990s.

  • every play looks like a goal line stance

  • Was this filmed in 1080p?

  • Of course it was in 1080p... they also came out with a Blu-ray copy. :P lol

  • whoa, check out the kicker practicing drop kicks, they didn't have holders?

thanks for loading this, crazy. it's like the most exciting play was the punt.

  • lol soccer sucks in america we play real football, and all the sissy pads are u kiddn me u ever watched a game and see how hard these guys hit, sure in aussie rules their is an occasional good hit but in football almost every down there is a good hit,

  • sissyes play american football

    real man play rugby

  • Real men play rugby...you mean the ones in the tight shorts and cutoff shirts all sweaty and wrestling and grabbing each other? Looks about as 'manly' as the UFC.

  • @slm1963 Wrestling is more manly and tougher than football, get over it douche.

  • hell this is rugby, they didn't have the forward pass yet.

  • i like to see you british fairies try and play against us in AMERICAN FOOTBALL! funny how the only position you idiots can play is punter! that the only thing you pediphiles can do is run!! go suck some young boys ballz!!

  • Dub in "what is was was football" and we have a good'un

  • i thought back then in football anything thing would go on the field?

  • This is film, not videotape.

  • I didn't know they had video cameras at that time. Very old

  • Whoa nelly! In a high scoring affair, Princeton 3 Yale 2.

  • 80,000 fans all dressed as Jack the Ripper.

  • The teams are rushing out out of the locker room onto the sidelines and quickly taking their seats on the bench!

  • Compare Andy Griffith's comedy recording "what it was, was football". And there commenced the biggest fight you ever saw.

  • I wonder if gameday was there?

  • Gameday, no; Lou Holtz, yes. He did, however, have his view blocked by an old man with a big nose and big sunglasses, named Paterno.

  • in that time they didnt wear helmet., *pain* :D

  • Why no football?

  • Time capsule

  • Where the hell are the cheerleaders? We need babes.....

  • lmao

  • at 3:42 I thought I saw holding.

  • man the place is packed!!!

  • were did you get the footage becuase i need to cite this in my history day projected. please tell me were

  • they wouldnt have had sound, the camera works on a photograph basis, it takes millinons of photographs really fast, just like a flick book.

  • wow..........

  • Where's all the brothers at?

  • Wow, I guess the hurry up, no huddle offense isn't such a new thing.

  • wheres the sound??

  • nice video

  • This isn't football!! more like rugby!

  • wow they still incorporate the rugby posts and i saw a guy practicing his dropkicks because back then the ball was much more rounder which made it easy to kick.

just a bit of rugby heritage

  • no one cares about if soccer is the worlds most popular sport, or any of your opinions for that matter. You clearly dont know what youre talking about, so fuck off.

  • ya people do give a shit u retard ,and my opinion is way better than urs cos atleast i know what im talking about ,btw how old are u ,i bet ur a freak that stays on the computer all day long cos ur fat ,ugly and got no friends

  • no, nobody cares if american football is popular around the world or not. It really doesnt matter, as long as we enjoy the game thats all that matters. And you dont know what youre talking about. How do i know? You tried to bring in the "pads are for pussies" argument.

  • stfu get the fuck out of here football owns all sports bitch. and soccer is for fucking queers.

  • what gives me a weard feeling is that every single person in the video is dead now...

  • thats what i was thinking too.

  • @Yuzu81777 why is everyone talking about how the people are dead?

  • @Yuzu81777 i resent you for putting that disturbing thought in my head.....

  • @futurepresident100 man up... don't be a pussy!

  • @futurepresident100 man up... don't be a pussy!

  • @Yuzu81777 o_o....
