Getting attacked by a pit bull is "ethically" no different than being attacked by a wolf. Is it "bad" or even "a crime" to defend against a life threatening attack? Absurd. A victim of assault who is able to defend himself is still a "victim". The 911 supervisor was very insulting, and showed NO concern for the victim or his dog, and NO concern for the fact that a viscious dog was still on the loose.

Since when is it illegal to be "armed with a handgun". Just because this douche is a police dispatcher doesn't mean he knows crap about the law. I appreciate that the police have a very difficult job and frequently come in for outrageously flase criticism, and let's face it, we always want them there when we need them, but despite their duty to protect the public, and they often do so losing their own lives, this despatcher is a bit daft, hysterical and unreasonable.

i know how ya feel...my mom and dad were walkin our dog, a miniture pinscher, and this pit bull came chargin at them and went right for my dog, he got a hold of him before my parents could get him and grabbed his leg and wouldnt let go, the owner came down and tried to help..in the end my mom had been bitten on her leg and hand and my dad was bitten on his hand as well..but my dog got the worst, we had to have his leg amputated..but he is gettin along fine now, im just glad we still have him

this is ridiculous, ive been bit by chihuahua, an australian elk hound and a few other, but never a pitbull. does that mean all of them should be "killed" because there owner doesnt know how to properly train a dog. the only thing my pitbull bites is his toys and the occasional shoes when hes playingand gets too excited. pitbulls just get the most attention.

Wow I cannot believe that 911 operator. I am amazed at how calm you remained while dealing with him. That conversation would have gone very differently had I been talking to him. I can' t believe he thought it was ok to let the pit bull attack you and your dog and do nothing about it. You had every right to defend yourself from that dog. My poor puppy got attacked by a pit bull today. Thank god we were able to get it off with "minimal" damage.

Sounds like everything worked out for the best.I had a pitbull that lives its life in a pallet yard dive over a 10 ft fence and come after me and my pitbull.If I had a gun I would have probably shot it after the way it was freaking out but all I had was 2 unopened soda cans and I was going to smack the shit out of its head.It ended up smelling my dogs butt and wandering off.

The majority of "pit bull" attacks are from dogs roaming free, which is an obvious sign of a bad owner. But people always blame the dog... A Golden Retreiver killed it's owner so they looked into see if the dog was abused, and said it wasnt the dog's fault. If it even looked like a "pit bull" they wouldn't of looked into it they would just kill it.

I am an American Pit Bull Terrier owner, and I think that the owner of the pitbull was not responsible enought to own a pit. Obviously this pitbull wasn't trained to be in society. It's all in how you bring them up!! I think that the dog just be taken away from the owner and sent to a rehabilitation center where It will be properly trained instead of killed.

12/14/2009 last day in court. all vet bills paid and the pit bull was relocated to a different county.

july 26th thru December 14th case closed. my dog has recovered and is doing ok.

first of all i do not hate pit bull dogs! i love dogs. in this case it was a pit bull dog and it has been removed from Boone county by court order. the owner is in the process of paying my vet bills. this dog has attacked three dogs that i know of in my area. that is why i went to court to get the dog removed. if i had known that the pit bull had attacked prior to my dog being attacked i would have shot it! all dog owners must take care of there dogs. it was a pit bull dog.

The funnny thing is that the pitbull is probably a good dog. He's just being a dog. Its the owner who is bad. Dog to dog aggression is normal. Hell,... my pit loves people and other dogs too. This is an excellent video. The dispatcher is horribly out of line. The dispatchers job is to determine what is happening, where it is happening, then send an officer to that location...PERIOD. As an officer myself, had this happened to my dog, I would've told that dispatcher to shove it up his ass and I'll call him back when I get home. Regardless, the victim of this pitbull attack was very level headed.
