Its calcium carbonate. I had tonsil stones from around 16 onward. I used to remove them every 5-6 weeks using my index finger. I was getting tonsillitus 3 times a year, and had my tonsils removed when i was 26. Very painful precedure, but i never hada problem since. If you hav your tonsills removed you are more prone to chest infection, as the tonsils capture bacteria.
