  • We would be better to establish a colony and space station on earth's moon! If we did this, our turnaround time, and rescue abilities, if needed, would be feasible. Building a base on the moon would prove to be economical and beneficial to all on earth. It would be a more stable stepping stone for which to launch, literally, to other planets, asteroids and systems. Let's do it first!

  • lol how can they say that nasa is going to be top dog with a straight face lol and to say they will be leaders when they will be hitching rides with china and russia they have there heads so far up there asses they can only hear the echo of there voice and not the laughter of all of us out here watching

  • Bolden is a yes man. His performances at NASA press conferences are embarassing to say the least, He talks about developing heavy lift vehicles that will be operated sometime around 2030 - at the same time as scaling back preliminary work on Ares V. At least if you are going to outsource, say so positively. Say that SpaceX will now build Heavy Lift - don't just sit there and talk about 2030 and 2040 - Bolden just passes the buck down the line. Where's the ambition? The drive?

  • Here is a point for you all to ponder, back in 1996, I was called on to support satellite based uplinks during the time that Telstar 401 "disappeared" from orbit. While it was a small task to find an alternate Satellite, what do you think will happen when an asteroid or solar flare takes out our space based infrastructure? You cant say it cannot happen, because it already has (Telstar 401)

Imagine a world with non-functional phone, data, Internet and ATM circuits.

    Now Thats TRULY SCARY!!!!

  • Scientists everywhere laugh every time "science" is used to further partisan interest. "you are the scientists" crap. Obama will cut NASA funding, in addition to many other research endeavors. This clip is like listening to a motivational speaker who pushes partisan interests. A car is only about 5 to 15 percent energy efficient, you could triple the cost of a car and it is only an additional 5 to 10 percent more energy efficient. taxing energy can be sold as "going green". Time for unemployment

  • This should not be a "political" appointment.

NASA is like the fire department...no one really appreciates them until real danger is bearing down on our doorsteps....

How about discussion of the Asteroid/commet that threatens to disrupt satellite based telecommunications around 2013?

Nobody is talking about it...I just would like to know why?

  • Because NASA is a political establishment. It derives its funding from congress, its appointee (IS SUPPOSED TO BE) is appointed with every new administration as per the cabinet changeover which is normal.

Furthermore, the claim you make has not been vetted by anyone who is willing to submit their works for peer review.

  • Senator Nelson trie to end my rights to own pythons and boas. He is now trying to push legislation to sensor the internet and has not signed on to Sanders bill for Federal Reserve Transparency.
