  • you should come to B.C, Canada sometime, and perform. We use ASL too!!! If you ever get a chance it would be so awesome.

  • nice to finally hear your story.. :)

even though i'm hardly fluent, i got the gist of it.

    the song was amaizing!

i especially liked the "see like me" - great interpreting!

and the church bell ringing just when he says "God".. LOL!

  • I think this may be my favorite of all the songs I've seen you perform... Would there ever be a change you'd be willing to break down this one at some point? I'm a 21-year-old ASL student from the Bay Area and I find your videos are one of my strongest motivations to continue improving my signing!

  • ALLY!!! HELLO IM BARBARA FROM MEXICO I HAVE TO ASK SOMEThing sorry about capletters

did you know universal sign language?

my boss is made acongress and we need some interpreters

    if you can help

    thanks have fun

  • Thats true thats like my experience in learning ASL trying to find people who were patient enough to help teach me. I never had expected it, I've only been learning for 3 months and 3 weeks. Went from not being able to say anything to being able to talk with people for hours. Btw, what is that sign when you make a fist kiss it and move it away from your face. I see it a lot but not one has told me what it means.

  • FAVORITE :)

  • thank you I use a different variation than that, was never taught that variation. Good to know I see a lot of people sign that never knew what it meant. Much like a see a lot of people sign "try" more ESL vs ASL. Thanks! You sign well keep it up!

  • ok wow! 1: great song choice!

2: Way to persevere through the noise distraction, deaf folks probably didn't even miss a beat.

3: WONDERFUL use of Classif., facial expressions, sign choice etc. ; this song is so [english] and the words seem difficult to put into a good translation, but big Kudos 'cuz you nailed it!

Loved "open up your mind and think like me"

and "look into your heart and youll find LOVE, love love love..." (the way LOVE just sprouts from the heart made me smile) thank you!

  • I wish I realized I could major in Deaf Ed before now. I just spent 3 years in an interpreting program and I'm bound and determined to finish the last two years of it and then I'm going into Deaf Ed. I want to teach Deaf kids too. You are such an inspiration. I love watching you sign. Keep up the good work. You are showing the world what a beautiful language ASL really is.

  • thank you! :)

  • I just have a random question....did this happen to take place on a Tuesday??? it would explain the LOUD alarm. Every Tuesday the Ferry Building has an Alarm that goes off.

  • this was on a ..... i think saturday?

    not 100% sure actually. lol

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA I just wanted to share that as I was watching this video from my desk at work...the clock started chiming!!! LOL

  • hahaha! :)

  • haha. i was sooo waiting to see a fire truck or fire fighters going behind you. gahhh. you are soo inspirational. you keep me learning. i find asl soo fascinating and want to be as good as you are one day :) good job!

...and please keep making videos i love watching you

  • Your right, it was "before"! Thanks! What about at 6:34 ? Sorry to keep asking you, i'm just curious! :D

  • FOCUS?

  • I love this sooo much.

I need to do an about me sometime soon. I know what I want to say, and how to sign it, but I'm sucking at actual ASL right now. With the word ordering, ect.

But You've got it down pretty well. ;) I don't remember how long you've studied ASL, but I've only been involved in it for about three years on and off.

  • just about eight years. :)

  • Hey Ally, I'm a big fan. i was wondering, at 0:18/19 what is that sign it looks like "worse" to me. or maybe "unbelieveable"? great job!

  • IRONIC. :)

  • thanks that makes a lot of sense.

  • Ally at 4:20/21 what is that sign? It looks similar to 'way' but I can't figure out what it is...

  • i believe youre referring to BEFORE

  • What does the sign mean when you rub one flat hand on your chest and the other flat on your stomach? I've noticed it in a bunch of videos, usually at the beginning before a song begins.

  • ENJOY.

im usually signing "hope you enjoy"

  • This is my absolute favorite song of yours! I looked up the lyrics and, WOW, that must have been difficult to translate! Can you do a how to video for this?? :)

  • i love this song. you should be on americans got talent. it's on right now!

  • I think that was my favorite interpretation of yours! That was phenomenal! I absolutely loved how you interpreted those lyrics. I've tried when it's on the radio and it was great to see how you did it. Loved it!!!! You brought that song to life! :)

  • Great job! I am impressed that you held it together with all of the distractions. You didn't even blink. You are quite skilled! Kudos!

  • i was so into the performance! haha

  • Brilliant! I absolutely loved your interpretation, it was stellar, especially since Mr. A-Z is so metaphorical with his lyrics. Absolutely beautiful!

Oh, and random, but I like these little connections: your sign for the part "see like me" is the sign a Deaf kid taught me for "Telepathy."

And it's great to learn your story!

  • GAHLEE i wish Mr. A-Z would make lyrics i could interpret better! hahaha.

i had SUCH a hard time!

haha. yes, it's like "reading the other person's mind" :) that's what he means... at least, that's what i interpreted. hahaha.

  • aw you look like you're having such a good time! thanks for posting this...you really are the reason i started teaching myself to sign and will begin classes in the fall. i'm still very new to it but i did understand bits and pieces.

  • Amazing! So many distractions! but you were just amzing and zoned them out!

keep up the good work!! :]

  • Once again another AWESOME job! Great job at playing off the interruptions. As I watched the end of this I was like I thought you said you were going Seasons of Love from Rent.... then you introduced it and this video ended. I love that song, I got all happy is was coming on then the video ended,,, and my bubble burst. Anyway, Awesome job as always 8D

  • i DID say that!! you have to remember that i had to split the vids in parts, as i cant upload more than 10 min at a time.

the next section will have Seasons of Love. :)

  • Good song, wonderful signing... again, awesome job. The alarm and clock didn't seem to distract you one bit, did you just zone it out? I'm curious... are most of the audience members hearing, deaf or hard of hearing?

  • yes, i was so into the song, that i just didnt even really notice the bell.

i did however hear the fire engine. haha.

and most of the attendees were Deaf, however, i had the most hearing viewers, obviously, they heard the music and came right over!

  • you did great.

  • I know this sounds really lame.

    But you are my idol(:

I wanna Teach ASL when I grow up as well(: I have seen alllllll your videos several times(:

  • aww i love that song. We walked down the isle to that at my wedding :). Thanks for sharing! And you definitely rocked it with all the distractions. I saw church bells and fire alarm in the description and boy was i shocked when i heard the bells. Lol you did awesome though.

  • clock chime is kinda cute actually, fits the song lol

  • hahaha

  • I have a question? Are you taking requests for songs in ASL let me know!

PS: Thank you for taking the time to share these videos

  • not at the moment. :(

    im just too bogged down!

  • Loved it! There were so many distractions. It's great that you can just focus on interpreting the song.

  • iiii know!!

the freaking interruptions were driving me crazy! but i just kept going.

  • hahaha and the drum festival just happened to be in town that day, too. When you were doing the sign for love and the clock tower went off, you could totally see it in your face. "Is that a...bell?" lol

  • it was some homeless man playing drums on trashcans.

  • I am so glad you are sharing these.

  • you're most certainly welcome! :)

    thank YOU for watching!

  • You are so brilliant. Thanks for sharing all of your videos with us. You rock!

    ~Carrie :)
