  • ¿Por qué fue "Mingo" se hizo famoso en vez de Gicomini? ¿Porque era mejor parecido (Giacomini es bajito, calvo y de vista deficiente), o porque el "marketing" decidió que era más "vendible" -amén del hábil manejo de las relaciones públicas? Porque, como cantante, "Mingo no tiene nada que hacer al lado de este gran cantante... ni de muchos, muchísimos otros más.

  • ¡Sorprendente! Su voz dramática y oscura no demerita absolutamente en nada sus maravillosos agudos. A diferencia "Mingo", que nunca tuvo el "Do", Giacomini SÍ; y en cuanto a dramatismo y potencia, el famoso tenor madrileño nada tiene que hacer al lado de Giacomini.

  • well...for everyone who loves lanza but are frustrated by the opera "know-it-alls", here is yet another tenor they cannot deny as a "true" opera singer whose interpretation leaves pavarotti "in the dust". just listen to them both. pavarotti doesn't even approach giacomini.

  • He is just a phenomenon. He was Mario Del Monaco's student. And one of the Giacomini's student is in Turkey. I met him!

  • @FanOfTenors That's correct. He has studied also with Marcello del Monaco. Mario, as far as I know, never taught singing.

  • @andyroma72 Qui é in tono, e aveva 56 anni. Dal vivo sbassava normalmente di mezzo tono - come tutti del resto. Ha cantato Boheme ancora nel 2010 ! ( audio su Youtube - a Bucarest)

  • @maestroredal Guardi, che non volevo essere polemico. Ho il CD originale della Bongiovanni ed essendo direttore d´Orchestra Le confermo che é in tono. E´peró una registrazione in studio. Il mio maestro di direzione a Vienna aveva diretto Giacomini in Boheme allo Staatsoper nel 1978 ed aveva avuto un gran successo. Dal vivo Giacomini ha sempre abbassato l´aria, tenendo conto anche il peso della sua vocalitá. Cordiali saluti.

  • One can like this singer or not. But he is unique, exciting, genuine, with a way of understanding this art inherited fron Caruso, etc. To me, this is one of the ways opera singers should sound.

    The open sreaming llike technique could be loud but without interst.

    In the theatre one could not spot listesing to him.

  • I love Giacomini. He sounds round and dark, like a baritone and yet, his high notes are brilliant and resonant. I'd love to be able to sing like him one day. I wonder if he ever sang Wagner. I'd love to hear him sing Preislied, from Meistersinger.

  • Apprezzo molto Giacomini,un grande tenore drammatico dotato di rara potenza vocale, ma nel ruolo di Rodolfo non lo vedo tra i migliori, a testimonianza che non si può eccellere in tutto il repertorio.

  • Il Maestro Giacomini ha una voce veramente fenomenale. Come l'ha detto giustamente Regio 180, G.Giacomini è un helden Tenor con una voce e un fisico da cantare Wagner, Otello, Pagliacci, André Chenier, ma non La bohème. Cantando così, spaventa Mimi più che altro :-))

  • @osiarap no my friend I am no critic I am indeed a singer... nor am I pathetic... I try to spread this type of beautiful music to everyone I know and I have a deep love for singers like Giacomini. I have been working very hard to get my voice to the level where I feel I can go out and start an incredible life of singing opera. None of my comments on this page warrant a rude response such as this. Just listen to the music... all opinions of the voices are welcome. Just don't be rude...

  • @songsofscarlet My apologies if it sounded rude. I didn't mean to. I wish I could have what you have currently, a chance to develop my voice, as well, not so much with opera as with religious aria, which I enjoy singing a lot.

    Helden or Dramatic?

    He has the power and the depth to be Helden, that is BEYOND question. However Helden is a German word and may or may not have relevance in the repetoire Giacomini sings.

    Find me a Tenor who has a darker voice! even melchior doesn;t match in my opinion.

  • Gut, Giacomini hat eine dramatische Stimmfärbung. Trotzdem höre ich auch gern

    La Boheme von ihm. Er unterscheidet sich von anderen Tenören natürlich erheblich,

    Wenn ich von ihm den Bajazzo höre,

    dann finde ich, dass es keinen besseren gibt, der die Arie so eindringlich singt. Einfach grandios. Er ist mein Favorit nach wie vor !

  • Magnificent singing, stupendous voice. The "unsteady" vibrato, if it exists, does not bother me in the least. It sounds immediate and expressive. One of the most luxurious tenor voices ever, I´d say.

  • Wonderful voice, as he called himself years ago in ONews a "heroic lyrico-spinto". Still, always the problematic, unsteady vibrato, the obvious manipulation of the resonance & larynx. Onsatge his virtues were limited tho earnest, and unfortuantely, he was inconsistent and never seemed to solve the vibrato problems and frequent cracking. Almost 1 of the century's best...

  • que voz mas fantasticaaaaaa ,, todo un dramaticoo ,, agudos redondos como la forma del universoo ,, timbre varonill ,, quisa no es para esta cancion ya que carece un poco del sentimiento a cambio de la potencia propia de su maravillosa voz ,, pero q estamos frente a uno de los tenores mas importantes de nuestros tiempo no cabe duda me siento alagado de estar vivo en la misma epoca que el , y la pera no es solo para personas mayoress ,,, yo tengo 19 años y amo esta musica

    Hanno fatto storia le voci (scure) che hanno affrontato un ruolo-repertorio piu "acuto" per loro. Piu impegnativo per le proprie corde. Dove la tecnica e la forza toccano limiti e.....cuore! Pensate solo il Don Giovanni di Siepi o di Ghiaurov. Non puoi sentire qualcosa di meno dopo!

    Giacomoni=GRANDE!

  • Un tenore che canta con estensione del suo campo con tono da basso-baritono trovatelo voi. Createle voi se siete capaci delle corde vocali così (certe cose è meglio lasciarle fare al buon Dio)

  • Absolutely astonishing voice.  He sings this aria in the original key, which few dramatic tenors (and not a few lighter tenors) often do not do. Stunning high C. Whether or not he makes an ideal Rodolfo is beside the point. This is one aria, and he renders it amazingly well. His Otello and Andrea Chenier were classic. This is one of the great tenors of the 20th century, and he does not get the praise he deserves in America, where we went for glitz and stereotype. The loss was ours!

    Reason why he didn't blossom in america is because Domingo had a monopoly.

    Domingo kept other talented tenors away with various tactics.

  • Anche T. Schipa, in quanto tenore di grazia, non aveva una voce particolarmente adatta al ruolo di Rodolfo ( per il quale sarebbe decisamente più opportuno un tenore lirico pieno o, tutt'al più, lirico leggero ). Questa rimane un'interpretazione di primissimo livello e Giacomini può essere considerato sotto tutti i punti di vista uno dei migliori tenori drammatici italiani di tutti i tempi.

  • Bisogna pure definire cosa si intende per interpretazione, io non sento nulla, odo solo una valanga di voce, sicuramente usata nel modo corretto, altrimenti non riuscirebbe.. ma non è questo che basta per definire un'INTERPRETAZIONE di primissimo livello, almeno nel campo del canto lirico d'opera. Giacomini faceva già parte di quella "nuova corrente di pensiero" ... non è questo il canto che gradiva Puccini, quantomeno Verdi, pensando che Adelina Patti era la favorita di Verdi.
