Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty! Do NOT associate with those given to CHANGE! Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil. Do NOT be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes, For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught. The wicked flee when noone pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion - Proverbs
Watching things like this makes me REALLY think about humanity as a whole. Even the idea's we have and the way we live.
How DARE we allow people starve so that we can have three televisions..... I'm not saying we should all be communist, but COME ON, we could at least hep these people. If everyone used their garden fro growing food, and NOT for showing off a few plants which then die and crumble, or a perfect lawn, we'd have MUCH MUCH lower hunger rates. They might even disappear.
Several reasons: 1. Agriculture is highly unpredictable even with better technology and growing techniques. 2. A developing country need goods their own country cannot produce, therefore it is necessary to sell crops they produced to other countries, sometimes there is not enough crops for their own country. 3. Developing countries often have unstable and/or corrupt government and/or engage in wars which lower the standard of living in general.
4. Also (the more controversial arguments) green-washing of the west failed to realized the practicality of their lifestyle for developing nations, such as converting corn into ethanol instead of feeding people/livestock and setting up unrealistic standards for developing countries on the environment without meeting thos standards themselves.
but, as the lady says, at the local level that has little meaning. Does the local farmer disappear in a developing country?
I only talk like this, because my grandfather was a farmer and all my mother and aunts and uncles worked that farm. They were dirt poor, but they staked claim to land and made a farm. It seems so bazaar that a developing nation can't do that at the local level.
Some local farms are disappearing due to competition against larger corporations is too great, others simply cannot sustain itself due to change in living standards.
You have to remember different countries have different laws regarding operating small businesses.
WHY THEY NEVER EVER SPEAK ABOUT THE RAPID POPULATION GROWTH IN THE UNDER-DEVELOPED COUNTRIES?!!

I've always said - the problem isn't the system of capital exchange. The problem, is human nature. What we are like as humans. And it ain't purty.

@AirelonTrading We're not born greedy..we get it from the environment. And our socio-economic system perpetuates greed.

I just can't wrap my head around people starving in a developing country?
Someone explain it to me slowly. I mean a developing country... has a GDP of agriculture, not computer tech. So how can a developing country starve?
