  • There was more to his speech. He knew that NEGOTIATIONS needed to happen and that both sides had to put partisan bickering and politicking aside in order to balance the budget in any real sense.

  • Additionally, since the government has no choice but to borrow more money...why put up much of a fight? To me victory for Republicans would be to get the Debt limit raise under a TRILLION ... approve it ... then blame Obama for massive deficit spending during his term during the election. If we have even a threat of a government shut down, voters are going to flip out and vote the other way. 4 years ago the debt was what? 9 trillion? now it will be almost 16 TRILLION under Obama?

  • Again, Democrats and Repubicans are both to blame in the debt problem. Its the finger pointing that will screw us in the end. I can't wait to see how long and how much B.S. will occur in the current request to raise the debt ceiling yet again by 1.6 trillion. Debt is growing far beyond GDP growth. When we our government ever pay down any debt? When will the crys "back to surplus" ring in congress? I respond on the video because it should be taken down because it offers nothing but fingerpoints.

  • Yes, Democrats spend. But Republicans pretending they dont is absurd. Anyone who believes either party's tripe is a buffoon.

  • Dear Raptorstuff, Please Give the Dates and the amounts that the House and the Senate agreed to raise the debt ceiling to under Reagan. More importantly, What % of the GDP was the National Debt when Reagan left office?

  • David Walker warned us back in 2007.

Now we have a AA+ rating with a negative outlook.

Teabaggers, Republicans, or Democrats.... most have Iost faith in our government's ability to pay down the debt.

We are screwed, period.... finger point all you want....we are screwed.

There is zero political will in Washington to pay down the debt or even balance the budget.

    -20 trillion by 2015

  • talk, talk talk.....

    practice what you preach...

our government is out of control

  • You folks realize that Reagan didn't raise the debt ceiling, it was congress. Instead of picking that history book up, you might want to read a civics book.

  • @JWillsWay Hmmm, an yet you're saying Obama raised it?

    Hmmmm

  • @circumarc I said Obama raised what?

    Reading comprehension much?

  • @JWillsWay Right, and Reagan could have refused to sign it, just like Republicans were asking of Obama. But he didnt. Why didnt he?

  • The problem is that home schooling is creating stupid video's like this. Who needs to know history? Duh... You can be mad about the debt crisis, but to use the WORST SPENDER IN THE HISTORY of THE USA as the poster boy for a balanced budget is more than funny, and shows how sheep stupid most conservatives are. Open a history book and realize, that no one spent more future generations monies than Ronnie RAy Gun.

  • then was now and now is then keep to a budget the rest of us have to.big gov't sucks!!!!!

  • While I voted for you, Reagan is a terrible choice for a political "balance the budget" video. The thing is ... the USA will never pay off the debt.... ever... I doubt we will ever pay down the debt... we will never balance the budget. We will hit 20 trillion in debt before we ever pay against the debt. Why is it that Republics insist on using vintage Reagan footage to push a political agenda? STOP IT

  • No one in the history of the USA has been as reckless with spending funds as Reagan.

  • LOL, well he spent you into the mess that you are today. He increased big governments footprint by 9 times! The bulk of your countries debt was incurred under Reagan, in fact today's generations are still paying the interest on the monies he spent.

  • You realize that Reagan raised the debt ceiling 18 times right? We are not talking once, but EIGHTEEN TIMES!

  • @raptorstuff Raising the debt limit back then wasn't the same as raising the debt limit today. When Reagan was President, the Debt was accounted for a much smaller portion of the GDP then it is today. Also When Reagan raised the debt limit it wasn't by trillions but rather by millions and billions.

  • It is time to get the sick and old off our backs. Who needs them? Let them die.

  • Rep. McMorris, is this the first time in your career that you have voted against bumping up the debt ceiling? If not, when have you voted against a debt-ceiling increase previously? If so, why now and not before?

  • What music is that?
