  • Is that Kenneth Branagh as the general with the beard?

  • @brando92346 The one at 3:00 - 3:29 ish ? That's Jimmy Yuill.

  • I'm pretty sure they didn't have automobiles when Mozart created The Magic Flute.

Why, Brannaugh, can't you keep a story in its proper time period? You did so well with "Henry V", but you've warped every other Shakespeare piece since.

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE THIS FILM AVAILABLE IN TH U.S.!!

  • Como visualizarían la Tercera Guerra Mundial musicalizada por Accept (Balls to the Wall)?

How hill u visualize the World War III with music by Accept (Balls to the Wall)?

Comment vous visualiseriez la Troisième Guerre Mondiale avec music par Accept (Balls to the Wall) ?

  • It's scandalous that this film has never been released in the U.s., not even on DVD!

  • Omg...this video is all one shot...

  • Does anyone know where I can watch this movie online?

  • Is anyone reminded at all of Disney's Fantasia?

  • Ok. A musician here, but far retarded.

  • never saw this film..i must see it !!! wow impressive and surreal !

    greets

    ender

  • I like that Branagh tried to bring this great opera to new audiences; given that Magic Flute was intended for a mass audience, and that it was to be played to this audience in their own language, it makes sense to translate it into english. And I'm not against updating the settings of opera, if it's done well - but WW1 was a brutal muddy mess, whereas magic flute is all light and wit, so the image & setting simply does not fit the music, not even ironically. But there's still a lot to like here.

  • Wait, so if you live in the US you can't watch the whole thing? :(

  • @magicpony9 you can watch dvds of any region on a) sony DVD players which are not coded, or b) a computer as long as you use the VLC programme (which is free to download and non-region-coded) to play them - so yes, you can watch it in the US as long as you import the DVD, although you cannot watch it on an Xbox or cheap dvd player... basically you just have to jump through hoops to watch the films you want; it sucks, but there's always a way

  • I have just finished watching Shackleton by Kenneth Branagh, which is marvellous....Ken is a national treasure !! And, as for Mozart...words fail !!

  • This movie was AWESOME!!! And the overture is one of my personal favourite scenes. I love war-movies and I love Mozart!

  • MOZARRRRTTTTTT<3

  • ...AND BRANAGH;)

  • Absolutely Superb

  • I've definitely been out of the loop. I've never heard nor seen anything about this film before now! I haven't even seen so much as a trailer. Opera remains my first love in all entertainment media so my lack of knowledge about this is a shock.

  • @QueenBoadicea It's never been released in the U.S., and it's only available on DVD in a Region 2 version.

  • Certified Intergalactic!

  • great version of the opera...just a little over ramanticized

  • Awesome! Branagh has a great sense of the chaos of war, even when set to the music of Mozart. My favorite director. Thanks for the upload!

  • saw this in the cinema, brilliant!!! would like to see it again, once is not enough, and there's no better experience than viewing this in the cinema

  • Coronel Dax as Tamino! This is the world of Paths of Glory (death, destruction and silly officers). And Dax/Tamino must find a different world (within himself, first of all). The end result will be peace and brotherhood. THAT is pure Mozart.

  • i don't know this strange movie ^^

    it seem interesting for me

do it exist in French ?

  • I think you can find it with the subtitles in French, because it was traslated in English from German just to make the film.

  • i go to seek a french DVD of this movie :-)

  • but why didn't they put English subtitles for this in the UK? It's not fair!! Was this brought to Germany, and how did they put it there w subtitles?

  • The dvd was released a while ago i was lucky enough to get a copy through Ebay

  • fantastic. gotta get the dvd. hope there is one!!!

  • got it, watched it (more than once), loved it. i recommend it to everyone who is a) interested in brannagh´s work and foremost b) who likes mozart´s magic flute. maybe not for the specialized opera purist, but if you go for the whole experience of visuals, sound and interpretation, you´re in for a treat.

  • oh wow. could you please post the rest of this??

  • incredible! is this ever getting a general release so I can see and own it?

  • This is great! :)

  • ABSOLTELY BRILLIANT. I've gotta see the entire movie. do u think u could please upload it? I loved how Kenneth Branagh barely allowed sound effects or dialogue to be heard during Mozart's spellbinding overture.

  • I wish this film to be released in South Korea, too.

  • Hm...I like the scenes of this movie, but the language....I`m from Switzerland, I really like this opera in german...but the scenes are great, respect!!!

  • I don't like the film, but the mozart's music is sublim

  • I want the DVD...

  • the guy running through the trench is one of our finest actors. Ive heard he's single too.

  • This is an incredible shot.

  • Thanks for this! I've been waiting FOREVER to see this.

  • Brilliant and imaginative adaptation of The Magic Flute.

  • It's full of poetry and magic indeed!

  • *sigh* When is this thing gonna get released in North America??

  • when will it be out in America, it is not fair!!! I really would like to see the whole movie
