@TheSupremeAbstract Very true haha, but hey thankfully we had good bands like smashing pumpkins who were able to maintain grunge for a while. It's such a pity though, these guys had amazing potential.

I just think grunge has come to an end for now. But it will be back again soon enough. Just re-packaged and given a shiny new box
They did take a long break though.

@TheSupremeAbstract Very true haha, but hey thankfully we had good bands like smashing pumpkins who were able to maintain grunge for a while. It's such a pity though, these guys had amazing potential.

@TheSupremeAbstract excuse me for disagreeing with you but they did not get bad. They progressed and put out four other great albums with a fifth on the way. :) I for one have never stopped caring about silverchair even though a lot of people here in the U.S. have. Their brainwashed by the shit music of today. Daniel has written beautiful songs since Frogstomp so get out of your grunge state of mind and take a listen.

@Dansilverbabe You can disagree all you want mate; doesn't make your stance on it any more or less valid than mine; it just means that we have different tastes. There is no right or wrong on a subjective matter and that's something you should probably get used to.
Who are you to comment on my state of mind? Can I not dislike a bands progression or express my opinion on the direction of a 20 year old genre without becoming a grunge elitist?

I wouldn't voice my view it if I hadn't heard their albums. You can't seriously put your point forward and expect it to hold any water when it is purely based on assumption. Which is why everything you said bar your opinion is pointless and void. It's all rambles based on uneducated assumptions you conjured up in your head.

I'm not singing his praises and Silverchair's not my favourite band by any stretch of the imagination but you've gotta appreciate how much talent Daniel Johns had at such a young age. @GrungeTheMusic I hear Eddie Vedder in him too. Except I can actually understand Daniel Johns. It's hard to decipher what Eddie sings sometimes lol. Don't get me wrong, I love them all anyway, because I love grunge. But Daniel was 14 years old, so he may have been inspired by AiC or Pearl Jam, but he has his own raw talent.

It will be an imperialist action, not a humanitarian one. After the bloodshed it produced in Serbia, Iraq and Afghanistan, the doctrine of "humanitarian military intervention" should be discredited beyond rehabilitation.
