I'm sorry, but this just doesn't compare with the original. These Cat Power guys should just have made a whole new song, instead of taking this lovely old Velvet song and destroy everything about it, that made it awesome. I can hardly hear anything from the original in this song, and that's sad for a cover. It really is.

No one would have noticed the (nonexistant) similarities. Cat Power made this cover just to live benefit from Velvet Undergrounds fame. That is my perception of it all. I understand not wanting to sound completely like the original, but this particular cover is just grotesque.
