Its actually a federal offense to buy, make, or sell salutes that have over 130 mg for aerials (a dusting of flashpowder) or 50mg of flash for ground salutes (firecrackers). It is a felony if you get caught so i suggest someone as stupid as you shouldnt be handling 8 inch salutes any time soon. You'll probably end up blowing yourself or someone you know, up.

I'd have to say that was a good report for a 2 inch. Experiment next time and paste it in, instead of using gummed kraft tape.

yeah, but i prime all my shell fuses or use a spolette primed with blackmatch because i hate shells that dont break because if poor transfer of fire. it usually does make a BIG difference if a visco fuse is primed. visco isnt easy to light on lift without priming. either he ran his fuse straight out through the lift cup or primed it with meal or he crossmatched it. or, he just got lucky. but he seems to know what he is doing so im sure he primed it in a way.

Making fireworks in private in general is illegal, unless you got a permit that says; your working area is secure, and the surrounding areas are not being threatened by your activites and so on. so if you and your friend shot private shows, werent that illegal? how about 2.25 ..I said in the vid it's a 2 inch ID.. with a 1/8 wall.. which is sorry.. don't you know 3 inch salute tubes have at least a 3/16 wall and the report would have been way more thunderous.. I make both.. 3 inch dominates.. but I bought quite a few of the 2 inchers sold as " 2 x 3 x 1/8 " when received the tubes measured out with a 2 inch ID, 2.25 OD.. It was a good report for the quick method and about 30 grams of flash I think it was..

If the tube was 2" ID, what size mortar did you use? I would think that a 3" gun would have too much of a gap, but a 2.5" OD shell wouldn't fit in a 2" gun.

actually you make a good point now that I sat here and thought about it.. I suppose it could be considered a 2.5 shell after spiking and wraps.. and what orientation it would have in a mortar in size.. but we're still talking 1/8 walls with 2" ID.. not a big deal though.. thx for the comment

The shell was spiked.. white glue was applied.. then a wrap of kraft.. then spiked again between the first layer of stringing (over the kraft) then glued/wrapped again which is quicker than brewing up some paste and just about the same amount of work.. however I do recommend pasting method if you're making more than a couple shells in a short period of time as opposed to making one or two in a long period and no need for many salutes.. the flash comp is shimizu's mix (thun. #3) using 3microm Al
