Even the fastest responding LCDs have noticeable ghosting (blurring) and potential input lag, and on a CRT you can use refresh rates in the realms of 120-150Hz, which makes everything much smoother. That said, I use an LCD myself, simply for convenience and because I don't have space for anything else.
