  • This version may have been crammed with more gimmicks than Deal or No Deal, but at least HS seemed to want the audience to have fun.

It's quite a shame that this didn't last longer -- the 1990s would have been a more fun decade had Squares, Super Password, and Sale of the Century been extended that far.

The only thing I didn't like about this version was that each episode was self-contained (main game, car game) instead of straddling like the daytime Marshall era and the last Bergeron season.

  • Don't forget Press Your Luck, the 90's would've been better with that too.

  • With so many crazy hijinks going on on this version, with action inside or outside the squares, it's no wonder I call this version "Freestyle Squares".

  • Any plans for this era of the Hollywood Squares to be shown on the Game Show Network? I liked the show back then. The Hollywood stars weren't as self absorbed as the ones today.

  • The best version of H2 there is.

  • I agree!! I miss the 80s version of the Squares!! I also miss the 70s version!!!

  • @Golbez1991 I don't know if it's the best version, but it should have lasted a lot longer then 3 seasons.

  • Can someone tell me why Shadoe Stevens was arrested again?

  • He wasn't arrested. He temporally left the show to do a movie and his brother took over.

  • what is the name of this song? i like this song.

  • Huey Lewis and the News - "Hip to be Square"

  • what's also ironic is that the name of the 1986-89 version of the HS main theme is actually called "It's Hip to be Hollywood Squares."

    I'm not lying.

  • You have my favorite version of Hollywood Squares, which is the John Davidson version! YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! You rule!!! Thanx a dozen!!!

  • Merill Heatter was right, this show as a circus. I love it!

  • Ignore my last comment. What I meant to way was Merrill Heatter was right, this show WAS a circus. I still love it, though!

  • The circus that was the greatest GAME show on earth! YAhooooooooooo!
